She stood there, paralyzed in shock as the witch loomed in for the kill. All she did was blink. One blink and she wasn't staring death in the face anymore. She wasn't in the Witch's Barrier with Madoka and Sayaka, who were witnessing how once a powerful Puella Magi fell to her doom. Mami gave a start, finally noticing how soaked her Puella Magi outfit was. Even changing back into her school uniform did nothing to dry her clothes nor her hair.

'I'm... alive?' was the first thought that came to mind. She turned to look around at her surroundings, not recognizing each building, each little store she saw. What made the sight more odd was the glowing coral in the middle of everything. Mami felt a slight tingle at the back of her left hand, giving a gasp when she saw a mark of some sort on her skin, like she was branded by someone.

No, this wasn't a work of a witch. Her Soul Gem would have reacted to the changes, gone crazy at all of this. So, if this wasn't a witch then...

"Where on earth... am I?"

[The Central Plaza could be pretty boring, most of the time. Even with all these newcomers arriving, it's not unlike Yukari to goof off a bit sometimes--straying here, shopping there, the welcoming brochures still in her hand.

When she spots that familiar head of golden hair, though, she has to stop and stare.]

...Did you go for a swim, Mami?

[She didn't hear her question.]

[Another person who knew her name. Well, the mysteries of this new world are starting to pile up...]

I don't remember taking a swim, actually...

[...WHY...IS SHE WET THEN?

Wait, did she disappear maybe? Like she did...? She'd come back wet too, like any other newcomer...]

Um...do you remember anything?

I remember my time at home... This is the first time I've seen this square.

[Uh-oh.]

Well, my name's Yukari. [And then she turns around, finding a towel stand. She grabs one of them, handing it to her.] Here you go.

You should dry off first...

Ah, thank you, Yukari-san.

Mami takes the towel gratefully, removing her hair ties and flower pins so that she can dry her hair first.]

[She simply watches as she deals with that hair and those curls of hers; briefly remembering what she looks like with her hair down from the one broadcast she happened to see.

She's got another towel at the ready for when she needs it, too.]

Do you feel all right?

[goldenflint]

[Mami looks up and nods. Though there is some uncertainty seen in her expression.]

I do... but [She looks up for a moment and sighs.] I guess I'm still getting used to being in a new world, as it were...

[tsundyne]

...It'll be okay.

[Adjusting to a new world is pretty par for the course, so Yukari isn't too worried. She hadn't expected this to happen, though... so there is a sigh as she tries to wrap her head around all this still.]

Everyone starts somewhere, and you'll have plenty of time.

...Unfortunately, you won't be going back home for a while.

... I see. It would seem Vatheon is not at all that great at timing, is it?

[tsundyne]

...No. [She laughs a bit at that observation.] Definitely not.

But you'll find that it's pretty good at giving you what you need.

[Mami was just about finished drying her hair. To keep it out of her face, she ties it in a ponytail when she was finally done. Styling it in her usual twin drills will have to wait until later.]

Compensation for taking us from where we were, correct?

[tsundyne]

[She happens to think her hair looks just fine as it is; but yes, she can always tend to it later. Yukari could even help, if needed, but--]

... Nothing? Well now, how magnanimous of them. [a beat] They're certainly going through all lengths to placate us.

[tsundyne]

[Oh, she nods easily at that. Sometimes she thinks they try entirely too hard.

But she would see that soon enough.]

They are. It's a bit hit-or-miss, but...I think you'll be able to adjust.

[She's dome it once before, after all...]

I certainly hope so. It looks like I'll be here for a while...

[tsundyne]

[...Yeeeep. That's sunk in quite quickly; but then again, this is Mami, so she'd expect no less.]

If you need any help, don't be afraid to call me. You should have a communicator on you that looks like a starfish...

[Hm, maybe in her pocket?

Come to think of it, Yukari doesn't remember where hers showed up.]

[nods.] I will. Thank you Yukari-san.

...A starfish?

[Mami searches her skirt pockets and pulled out the SFC, looking it over closer.]

This one? [She presses a button, opening a contact list.] So it's like a cellphone...

[tsundyne]

[Yep, a cellphone. She nods easily, glad that she doesn't have to explain that, too. Some people just don't know what they are.

...It's really weird to think about.]

Exactly. All of our names and numbers are already programmed into it, so you can call anyone you like.
