Selphie Spreading Cheer

During the curse, Selphie had been forced to stay away from the barn - there was no way she wanted that to spread, not if there was a possibility that it was actual sickness that she had, and not just a curse. So she'd been home for a week for real rest and sleep, and was able to return to the barn as positive as ever.

There's some disturbance and noise going on around Nostalgia Nook, near the barn. Selphie's busy in there again, only this time doing something else. She's definitely decorating. There's fresh coats of paint around, the barn doors wide open, and Selphie can be found high up a really high ladder, stringing up some lights that she's had since Christmas. The place, for a barn, looks pretty tidy too, with the hay stacked in neat cubes at one end, and the other with some wooden planks, vaguely resembling a stage.

[Vegeta stares up at the girl on the ladder. He has the sudden urge to shake it a bit just to scare her, but holds it back. Instead, he just calls up to her.]

What are you doing?

Yay less murderous!

*Selphie tries to look down while doing what she's doing, but she has to wrap the lights around her neck, holding onto the ladder while she looks down*

Putting up some lights!

[He can see that, thanks. He's also got a decent low angle going here, so he's not about to fly up next to her to chat.]

I see that. But what for? All those little lights aren't very efficient, you can see just as well with one larger bulb.

*Oh, that is just cute, and Selphie can't help but giggle*

It's for decoration! Long as it's pretty, it doesn't matter!

[That makes absolutely no sense, Selphie. Vegeta stares up at her. Was she celebrating something? Was she going to throw a party and cook all the birds inside this building? That could be fun.]

*She places a hand on her hip and tilts her head at him*

Whatcha staring at, mister?

[Rinoa appears, poking her head around the barn door.]

Hey, Selph? Are you...

[Oh, wow. There's... paint fumes abound and decorations and... yeah. Selphie has been at it. Rinoa can't fight the smile as she steps around, admiring the handiwork.]

You've been busy.

*Selphie's just managed to string another section of lights onto a nail on the wall when she glances down at Rinoa*

Hey!~ Yeah! Do you like it?

Thank whatever gods there were here that the disease curse was over. Eikichi was tired of having the mumps. Everyone stared at him like he was diseased - well, technically, he was - but he was also the great Michel aka the Death Boss (or Undie Boss, thanks to Ginko). He'd glare at the locals, and they'd go about their normal business. Frustrating.

But that was all over and he decided to go hunt down Selphie. Her habits lately had been relatively predictable, making it easy to find her in the barn.

As he approached, the smell of paint overcame him. He looked up to find Selphie busy at work, hanging the lights, just like she'd mentioned over a week ago. "Hey, babe."

Whoa! She'd been totally in her own world there, finishing the last hooking up of the string of lights, and the voice had definitely startled her. She'd been standing on one foot, trying to reach the highest part of the barn, but when she tried standing on it properly, her foot slipped and she wobbled.

Selphie gave a little squeal of panic, but she soon managed to grab herself a steady hold on the ladder. After taking a deep breath, she turned down him, "Hey yourself!"

Eikichi panicked for a moment. There was no way he could catch her with his string bean arms, and he was about to summon Hades to catch her for him (he even had his hand outstretched to summon him!), but she managed to catch herself. Thank god.

"Careful there, babe," he offered stupidly. "Didn't mean to scare ya. You alright?"

Selphie started laughing as she turned to climb down that ladder, glancing at that outstretched arm and glad that at least he had been quick to try and catch her!

"Tee hee! Oops!" Finally she landed with both feet on the floor, and she spun round to him, shrugging and grinning, "I'm fine!"

Eikichi grinned and shoved both hands back into his pants pockets, seeing that she was now perfectly fine. Last thing he wanted to do was to rush her to the hospital. He couldn't really heal her himself, as he wasn't really compatible with the healing persona (though he probably had some healing gems on him somewhere).

"You've been pretty busy here," he gazed up at all the decorations. The place really was starting to look like a place to perform.

Selphie turned her back to him slightly again to take a good look at the makeshift performance space. She gave an assertive nod - yeah, she'd done a good job definitely!

"Uh huh! Been working all day!" And actually, she was pretty tired, but she looked at him happily, "So whatcha think?"

[ hay hay hay-- I should be shot for the bad pun. ]

Oh, so this is where you are ...

*Selphie glances down from on top of her ladder, her hands full of lights*

Oh, hi!~

[spiria]

[ she sees the lights, then looks back up to her with a smile. ]

Need some help?

[booyaka_boom]

*she shakes her head a little - there's not enough space up there for the both of them!*

I'll be just one second...

*she's actuall a couple of minutes before she gets the lights strung and begins to climb down*

[ she'll just watch until Selphie climbs back down. ]

It looks good in here!

*She smiles and her friend and nods*

Much better, right?

Nasuti spotted the girl up high on the ladder, and looked around the area to see if there were others assisting her. Furrowing her brow in concern, she noticed that she seemed to be alone in her efforts, and walked up behind the ladder to hold it steady.

"Isn't it a bit dangerous to be on this all by yourself?"

Selphie jumped a little at the slight tremble in the ladder as the stranger took hold of it, and she looked down quickly. But she smiled on seeing the lady and shook her head, calling down, "Nah! It's okay! I'm nearly done!"

"Still, did you need any help?" Nasuti looked over the fresh coat of paint, smiling a bit. "What's the occasion?"

Selphie smiled at the lady and descended the ladder, turning to her brightly as she stood on the barn floor, "Oh! It's for a music concert!"

Nasuti's eyes rounded a bit, and she released the ladder for a quick moment to clasp her hands together in delight. "Do we have musicians here? How wonderful! Oop--!" She quickly grabbed back onto the ladder to steady it, sending up a nervous smile to the girl above. "What's left to do?"
