Selphie Spreading Cheer

During the curse, Selphie had been forced to stay away from the barn - there was no way she wanted that to spread, not if there was a possibility that it was actual sickness that she had, and not just a curse. So she'd been home for a week for real rest and sleep, and was able to return to the barn as positive as ever.

There's some disturbance and noise going on around Nostalgia Nook, near the barn. Selphie's busy in there again, only this time doing something else. She's definitely decorating. There's fresh coats of paint around, the barn doors wide open, and Selphie can be found high up a really high ladder, stringing up some lights that she's had since Christmas. The place, for a barn, looks pretty tidy too, with the hay stacked in neat cubes at one end, and the other with some wooden planks, vaguely resembling a stage.

"Still, did you need any help?" Nasuti looked over the fresh coat of paint, smiling a bit. "What's the occasion?"

Selphie smiled at the lady and descended the ladder, turning to her brightly as she stood on the barn floor, "Oh! It's for a music concert!"

Nasuti's eyes rounded a bit, and she released the ladder for a quick moment to clasp her hands together in delight. "Do we have musicians here? How wonderful! Oop--!" She quickly grabbed back onto the ladder to steady it, sending up a nervous smile to the girl above. "What's left to do?"

Selphie just smiled at the woman's happiness, because it was always great to meet a fellow music lover, and she walked over to sit on the stage, looking around her, "I think now... now we just need the band!"

"You mean there aren't any musicians that you know of?" Seems a little backwards, doesn't it? Or did she anticipate the musicians would come out of the woodwork once they'd realized they had a venue.

[booyaka_boom]

"Oh, there are! There are loads of musicians here. But I'm part of a band, and I'm waiting for the band leader to get everyone together so that we can practise."

"Oh! So its your concert, then!" Nasuti smiled, her eyes lighting up. "What do you play? Or are you the vocalist?"

Nasuti tried to remember if any of the Troopers played instruments. She never pursued any musical hobbies herself--unless you counted karaoke--but maybe Touma or Shin...?

"Uh huh! Sure is!" She laughed a little and gave a bright nod, "Well, I'm not gonna be main vocalist for this band. But I play guitar and a whole bunch of other stuff. But guitar for this."

"Oh, so you play a lot of instruments, then?" Nasuti appeared impressed. "Is that what you did back where you came from?"

"Yeah, I guess I do!" Selphie smiled back at her and shook her head, "Nah, I was more like a soldier, a mercenary.."

"Where did you find time to pick up all the instruments, then?" Seemed like everyone around here was capable of combat of some sort...

"Well...during break, during free time... It's a good thing to have a hobby - helps keep your mind off a lot of bad stuff, I guess."

She smiled and glanced the lady over, trying to guess what she did, "And what did you do back home?"

Nasuti laughed a bit and shrugged. "Well, I'm mostly an archivist and researcher for ancient Japanese history." Bet that sounded exciting, huh? "Several of my friends are warriors in their own right, so I basically took care of the details and tactical aspects of things so they could focus their energy on fighting."

"Ancient Japanese history!" Selphie perks up, as if she wasn't totally perked already, "I've been learning some stuff since I got here. Like samurais, like Kenshin!" Lots of people seemed to know about Kenshin, somehow.

"And that sounds great - like a really good team."

"Kenshin?" Nasuti blinks, and pauses to jog her memory. "Kenshin...Kenshin..." She shook her head and smiled to the girl. "I'm afraid I haven't heard of this samurai. Is he in this city?"

"You haven't?" Selphie frowns a little at that - she can't help but take it a little personally, what with her feelings for the samurai. "He's a war lord! And he's here!"

"A warlord?" Nasuti appears sincerely surprised at this. "Well, I won't pretend that I know everything about the samurai period. It covers a lot of time, after all."

Selphie nods brightly, "Yup! He has other samurai friends and ninjas and everything." Though, of course, what Selphie knows about all this she only learned since getting there, or via Kenshin himself. "Huh... There do seem to be a whole lot of samurais out there. Maybe you could meet him!"
