[The mingle party for this month is slightly delayed, and it certainly isn't because Station Master had decided to wait for the perfect weather.

Today, the party is taking place on the island, where there are locals stationed out on the beach who're more than happy to toss you a kite and show you how to fly one in this breezy day. There are plenty of kites to choose from, ranging from the simple to the pretty to the more tentacular.

Further out along the beach are rows and rows of surfboards, with a sign. With those sweet waves, doesn't it make you want to get out there and ride them? ...Well, even if you don't, some locals will be quite insistent you try and look they're even willing to show you the ropes!

Away from the waves, however, is an outdoor barbeque, with locals cooking shrimp prawns, fish, hot dogs, skewers... anything you want. There's something for everyone, and if you want to be the cook, they'll happily shove over and give you space to be the Iron Chef of the Beach.

...Actually the party's just an excuse for Station Master to show off his masterpiece]

[Resisting the urge to roll his eyes again and going back to the food.]

... This is good.

[sigh.]

[Rin pokes at the grill a little, but his attention is elsewhere now. Mainly on Yukio.]

Soooooo... we should like. Hang out. Or somethin'.

[doctor_dragoon]

[Raising an eyebrow and swallowing the bite in his mouth.]

Hang out?

Well... yeah. I mean, I'm gonna get pretty busy with the school openin', and you work a lot even here so... I figured we should do somethin' together since we don't really get to normally.

[saying all this while prodding at a frying squid on the grill, not even looking up at Yukio]

'cause. Y'know. Brothers do that sometimes.

[doctor_dragoon]

[Normal brothers do that. Rin and Yukio haven't been normal for a very long time, if ever. It's been years since the two of them really spent quality time together.]

... Did you have anything specific in mind?

[keepsthefire]

[Which is exactly why he brought it up. They're never going to get a chance like this outside of Vatheon, and as dim as he can be, he's painfully aware of this.]

I'unno... we could hang out here, if you want.

[And hopefully not reprise that horrid episode at the summer festival.]

[Yukio's also aware, and recent events have brought to light just how different things are inside the bubble. He has been making an effort to be less of a jerk, so...]

... I don't see why not. I don't have any other plans.

[And maybe try not to drop any bombshells on him this time?]

[Luckily he doesn't really have any real big ones anymore. He got most of them out after their last big talk about it.]

Okay!

[That gets him to perk up, tail swaying behind his back excitedly.]

[Taking another small bite of his tasty food.]

Do you have to stay here long?

[keepsthefire]

Uhm... 'bout another half hour? If you wanna get more food and wait for me.

[doctor_dragoon]

[Nodding.] Alright. I'll stay around this area.

[Congrats, Rin, you're getting what you want. Here's hoping you don't come to regret it.]

[He's going to... try and be on his best behavior because hey he doesn't want to ruin this for either of them.

But at the same time he's excited enough to practically be bouncing over this because yay brother time!]

[The excitement is odd (at least to Yukio), but kind of adorable.

He'll grab something extra to snack on and offer Rin a wave before wandering off. True to his word, he won't go very far. Probably end up finding himself a seat somewhere so he can people watch.]

[Rin is the kawaiiest

And true to his word, Rin finishes about a half an hour later. He makes his way over with his apron folded and draped over one shoulder.]

Ready?

[doctor_dragoon]

[Kawaii like dumb puppy.

Yukio stands and dusts off his pants.]

Ready.

[... Though for what he's not entirely sure.]

['scuse you, adorable puppy]

Alright! Uhm. ... what should we do? There's uhm... kites... and sand castles... or just swimmin' since I don't think either of us know how to surf.

[doctor_dragoon]

[Adorable puppies can still be dumb.

He looks thoughtful for a moment before shrugging and gesturing in the general direction of the kites.]

Why don't we give the kites a try? I can't remember the last time I flew one.

[keepsthefire]

[Of course. But he's still adorable]

Okay! Kites sound fun!

[doctor_dragoon]

[Maybe to Maka.

Nodding and heading on over toward the kites, then.]

[Well she's all that matters then.

Rin practically bounces along next to him, tail swaying excitedly. Up ahead, colorful kites dot the blue sky.]

[Aw, Yukio doesn't matter? So mean.

Yukio makes the journey much more calmly, and when they get there he picks out one of the simpler kites for himself.]

Which one are you going to use, Niisan?

[keepsthefire]

[Nah. Rin could never think like that.

Rin picks though a few of them before going for one of the prettier, more elaborate ones, holding it up for Yukio to see.]
