[The mingle party for this month is slightly delayed, and it certainly isn't because Station Master had decided to wait for the perfect weather.

Today, the party is taking place on the island, where there are locals stationed out on the beach who're more than happy to toss you a kite and show you how to fly one in this breezy day. There are plenty of kites to choose from, ranging from the simple to the pretty to the more tentacular.

Further out along the beach are rows and rows of surfboards, with a sign. With those sweet waves, doesn't it make you want to get out there and ride them? ...Well, even if you don't, some locals will be quite insistent you try and look they're even willing to show you the ropes!

Away from the waves, however, is an outdoor barbeque, with locals cooking shrimp prawns, fish, hot dogs, skewers... anything you want. There's something for everyone, and if you want to be the cook, they'll happily shove over and give you space to be the Iron Chef of the Beach.

Wow, jerk! [She nudges his head with her boot in payback.] I'm always playing for these things. Someone has to liven things up around here.

Oi, gimmie a break! I've been busy lately!

[and he sticks his tongue out at her in return.

It's not that boring. ... music is nice, though. Don't have much of that around here.

See? I'm doing a community service by helping out. I've been trying out different styles for each show. Ever hear of Riot Grrrl?

Figures. It's this punk rock sub genre, oriented towards chicks, right? I was showing my friend Jade some of the songs, and I figured, hey, why not make a concert out of it? Not like anyone's gonna stop me.

I grew up in Japan listening to church hymns. Did you really expect me to know somethin' like that?

... it sounds cool, though. Not surprised you got Jade to listen to it.

Yeah, but how long have you been here again? C'mon, spread out!

Yeah, Jade's been pretty awesome. I'm trying to get her to come up and play with me.

... almost two years.

[He tugs out a small music player (probably in some fish-related shape) and hands it over.]

I have this but it's pretty much the same stuff I listened to back home.

... I didn't know Jade played.

That's just sad. I have got to introduce you to some more music.

Anyway, yeah, she's stellar on bass. Just a little stage shy.

[At least he's gone beyond church hymns, and there's a few notable American and European top 40 hits in there, but the rest mostly stays firmly in the "This was produced in some Asian country" category.]

Huh. Learn somethin' new every day... can't say I blame her, though. I'd be all nerves, too.

I'll just be sure to tell her that there's people like you in the audience who only listen to church music, so anything she pumps out will practically be a godsend.

[She starts to snigger.]

Haha. I said grew up listening, I didn't say I still listened to it. I'm not that much of a loser.

Hee, I'll tell her that anyway. Don't you want to give her a boost in confidence?
