[Serph had been put to sleep for nearly a month.

In that time, Sera and Gale had left Vatheon, the coral had been broken and fixed, and the resultant water damage had wrecked the garden that he and many friends had cultivated together. Most of the flowers died from being submerged in salt water for so long, and even the saplings and rose bushes are looking worse for wear. And many of the gifts from his friends have either been washed away or heavily damaged by the water.

Serph's first instinct had been to tear a local apart (he had been hungry), but he'd held himself back, remembering what he'd told Ky. But the killing of locals stops now. He doesn't need to eat people. Not any more.

All week, Serph will either near the Forest Quadrant, picking through the garden surrounding his Tribe's base to see what can be salvaged, or up on the island in his demon form as he returns to the shore after hunting in the sea. He's always happy to talk with people, new and old, though people who know him may find him slightly more forthcoming than usual. But only slightly.]

[Serph nods. He can empathise with that; his own life had been nothing but warfare, until he arrived in Vatheon. But... it sounds like Saber's world found some measure of peace, at least.

However... She 'visited' later? If it wasn't for the existence of Vatheon, he wouldn't even be able to come up with--]

Do you mean you can travel worlds?

[ A small shake of her head. ] After I died, I was summoned in the same world in a very much later time.

[ Saber pauses to think, and wonders if Serph would be comfortable telling her about his homeland. The bits she received from Cielo made it sound as odd of a situation as the ones she was used to. ..The knight decides to go ahead and ask. ]

Would you be able to tell me about the world you and Cielo come from? He mentioned there was a lot of fighting for the goal of winning victory that was misleading, but you all continued regardless.

[... Summoned...? Serph makes note of that, as something to ask Saber later. When Saber asks him her question, he nods; he doesn't mind speaking of the world he came from.]

That is correct.

[He's not sure how much Cielo's explained, but...]

Our original world's law dictated the Tribe that conquers all other Tribes would enter Nirvana, a land of peace. To conquer a Tribe means to kill its leader, the conquered Tribe subsequently absorbed.

[Mmm, it's been some time since he's thought about their beginnings in the Junkyard.]

We were all incapable of ignoring the law. That changed when we gained our demons.

serph can see saber's defense force file? interesting stuff in there.

[ Saber nods. ] I was summoned into the Holy Grail War, where seven mages fight with seven summoned partners to the death. I was summoned to it twice. We all believed that the Holy Grail would grant any wish. It was much more complex than that, but the second time.. we learned better.

[ The knight shakes her head slightly. ]

That was only one small section of my life, .. but I feel it kind of has the same sound as your situation did. I hope you don't mind my comparing.

yep! although, unfortunately, he only has a dim understanding of knights and kings

[Serph shakes his head.]

I don't mind.

[But he doesn't understand... He tilts his head.]

If you were summoned, does this mean you had a purpose outside the war?

..How it happened was, [ the knight started, thinking of the most effectively short way to explain it, ] I ruled during my life as a king. And then I died. After my death, I was summoned twice to the Holy Grail Wars as a Heroic Spirit.

[ Yes, that should do. She nods once. ]

[He grasps the explanation, for the most part. The way Saber has existence past death is... not a new concept, but it does give him hope the others who have passed on are still with them.

He's... curious.]

What was existence like, after you died? When you were not summoned.

[If she does not mind answering.]

... [ She goes quiet, but does answer after a moment. ] I go back to a certain time and am suspended there until I am called. [ Remembering that bloody hill does not improve her mood, but she hides it well. ]

Other Heroic Spirits are held in the Throne of Heroes, and are not awake or aware they are there.
