19 ♐ Trial of Three
Who: Beast Master Darkleer, Rogue Bro Strider, Bard Summoner, Cleric Disciple
When: March 16
Where Exploring new ruins
Style: ???
Status: Closed
Well, Bro had expressed interest in traveling with Summoner and him during the start of the week, and with Disciple a valuable healer... Darkleer knew exactly who to contact when he and Summoner saw one of the quests on the board advertising an excavation of sorts.
Well, alright. Really, by the look of things, it couldn't really be graced with the professional title of "excavation". It was more like running into a dark cave and hoping things came out for the best.
Patting his musclebeast's broad back to soothe him- Arty doesn't like going into dark cramped caves- Darkleer looks to his companions. "I trust we're all prepared, then?" The odd tail poking out from his spine tries to curl loosely around one of Disciple's hands. Darnit, he still can't control the blasted thing.

"Stopped by the shop and spent a few points on potions if anything bad comes up." Pft, who needs these points anyway, he's fine without whatever they get him at the end of the curse. What could he want from Alternia anyway, besides to go back? And he highly doubts they'll bring a dragon here.
Summoner sends a wave Disciple's way and a nod to Bro when either show up.

"I'm thinkin' we won't need potions either way." He shrugs in a nonchalant manner. Bro's one of those stubborn people who likes to take the hard path in games and avoids using healing items as much as possible. The difference, of course, being that this curse doesn't give you the option to reload your savegame. Still, he's positive they've got a good party going here.

She holds up a small satchel that contains a selection of strange little odd-colored potions.
"Hello," Disciple says, walking up to Bro. "I do not think we have met before. I am known as the Disciple." She offers a hand.

"The Disciple, huh? Well, I'm known as Bro," he says with a cheeky grin. "And yeah, I've still got all the shit from the starting point too."
Though, this isn't his first quest. He's been on quite a few already. From cleaning glitter off a guy's house to killing three wolves to something as simple as telling a stock boy about a spill. This'll be his eleventh quest.

A loooong whistle.
"Got a lot myself, can't say I've used any much either, but those remedies at the shop sounded good for a big cave we're unfamiliar with."

Hopefully this won't be anything like the quest the Head Nurse sent him on that involved those poisonous slime... Darkleer sighs. "Well there's no point in standing around then. We have everything we could need, hopefully. I'll go in first." He's not entirely sure of the health stats, but he's pretty sure a big buff musclebeast has a better chance of standing up against an ambush than a bard, a healer, or a thief. Pulling a small torch out from a pack he put on Arty, Darkleer lights it and starts to step inside.

"If it is poisons we are worried about, I believe I have the knowledge to cure such a condition... I think. I have not really had the opportunity to use any of my abilities as of yet. I can also treat minor wounds, counter anything that slows you down, and also provide some limited form of protection... and on that note... If you are going first, Darkleer, let me try this first."
She closes her eyes, offering a quick prayer in Alternian to the power of Light and points the head of her wooden staff towards her blue-blooded Moirail. For a second nothing happens, long enough to make her worry, but then a faint shimmering light flickers around Darkleer, wrapping him in its protective embrace.
"It worked!" She is positively exultant.

And of course, there they have the stereotypical protective healer spell. Say what you want about mages, but they're handy to have around from time to time.
"Perfect. If a monster comes out and jumps him, he won't be in quite as much pain."

As for a human in battle comment- Summoner kind of sighs, he'd like to jump into the 'battle' end of that, fight along with Bro and the others not that he thinks Disciple will be doing much fighting herself considering she has magical powers? She looks to be in about the same boat as him- support. Ugh.
"Right-" Staring at Darkleer for a moment. Oh right he should probably play something. Beginning of the cave, there might be- traps? He'll give a small, rather displeased sigh and pull his violin up to his shoulder, pulling up his rather complex looking bow, and begins to play a quick -Cat's Grace- to up the party's stamina before they head too far into the cave. He doesn't want to just be playing in the silence of the cave after all, giving away their position as the song echoes down the whole darn thing. So the lot of you will probably feel a pick up in your speed. Enjoy that beefed up ability for a bit.

With Arty going up a little bit ahead and Darkleer's free hand just resting on his hindquarters, the pair lead the way. The torch is a glow in all the darkness, illuminating them as they make sure that all is clear. It doesn't seem like there's anything yet. No beasts attacking him or Arty, no traps going off. Honestly, it just makes him more suspicious. Still, he gestures for the others to follow as he keeps going. They've taken up the quest, after all, it needs to be finished.

Disciple moves to follow after them, more-so taking up the rear of the little group they had going. If anything dangerous were to happen, she did not trust her current physique to get her to safety.
"Oh, I did not know you played the violin, Lysunder. Quirk of your assigned class? It sounds... enchanting." Joke not really intended, her mind was occupied with the strange lightness of step she felt as soon as he started playing. It almost made her feel... normal.

He sticks near the rear of the group along with the Disciple, knowing full well Rogues aren't entirely fit to lead a party. Depending on what lies ahead of them, his skills may come in handy later. Right now, though? He'd rather not be a sitting duck. Even in the darkness, a flimsy torch being the only useful source of light, he's not removing his shades. After all these years, he's developed some amazing skills when it comes to being able to see in semi-darkness. He's not saying a word, he'll just watch and listen. If the quest's designed for shit to hit the fan in this cave, it'll happen soon enough.

"Hm?" Glances to Disciple. "Oh yeah, this old thing?" Looks at his rather gaudy violin. "I can't play it normally, but uh, whatever happened to us gave me ability enough to play what I have to. Think I'm taking a liking to my new instrument more though." Grins, the violin moving to his sylladex and replacing with a rather crude new instrument. A rather large fish bone guitar, pretty dang sturdy too. And when Summoner strums at the rip bones it has a nice, deep, hollow sound, almost base like.
"Still not uh, exactly me, but it does me a bit better in battle." That and his songs effects are stronger, not that he knows that really.
"But really, Swipe, when aren't I enchanting?" A small chuckle, glancing up at her as they start into the cavern. A little ahead of Disciple and Bro, snugly set at Darkleer's rear- intentional implications all around- and idly slides his fingers over the curves and bones of his guitar as they move in. Kind of wonder what might happen first... All that's accompanying them right now are a few random drops of moisture from the cave ceiling, and the sound of dirt crunching softly under their feet.
