006 - Girls' Night Out

Tifa hadn't really been looking for ways to enjoy Vatheon while she was here, but she seemed to be getting a lot of encouragement to do so lately. And she found herself really looking forward to her girls' night out with Rinoa. Not that, to be honest, she was completely sure what the difference was between a 'girls' night out' and just a night out, but she supposed she'd learn.

She approached the entrance to the carnival, looking around for the younger woman. On finding she was the first to arrive, though, her attention shifted to the bright colors and lights within. The only thing she had to compare it to was Gold Saucer, and she wondered how it compared.

"Well, let's see." Tifa thinks for a moment. "I've... climbed the Nibel Mountains. I've listened to the voice of the Planet. And, I've been to a city no one's lived in for thousands of years."

She's also infiltrated a brothel, driven a truck through a window, and been thrown in jail no fewer than three times, but those aren't really things you brag about.

"Wow! You've really been around, huh."

Aw, but Tifa! Those are the best stories!

Rinoa can begin to feel the ride begin to slow down, but she ignores it for the time being.

Those stories will come up sooner or later.

"Just about everywhere, it feels like."

Tifa swings one leg around, perching sideways on the seahorse to face Rinoa. They can go around again if you like, but this makes talking easier.

Excellent.

"It's neat, to see new places. New people and faces. Although circumstances can really shape the time there..."

As the ride comes to a stop, Rinoa dismounts her seahorse as well. Apparently one ride is enough for her, for now.

Tifa hops down from the seahorse and starts away from the carousel. Where to next?

"They can. But, sometimes you meet the best friends in the worst situations."

[sorcery_fledgling]

"That's completely true. I wouldn't have met the friends I have now back home if it weren't for some bad stuff happening."

She follows, looking around to see if anything else catches her eye. But maybe Tifa should pick next? If she sees something?

"You see anything interesting?"

"Same goes for most of mine."

There are some stalls with little carnival games and food-on-a-stick nearby, but something else has caught Tifa's attention.

"Looks like there's a roller coaster further in. You game?"

"Some way to meet friends, huh?"

...Did someone say roller coaster?

Although the height aspect makes her nervous, Rinoa loves the thrill of the ride, and there's no way she's passing it up.

"Definitely! Just don't mind me if I scream."

"It certainly makes it memorable."

At Rinoa's response, Tifa smiles and heads in the direction of the track visible above the other stalls and rides.

"I thought you were supposed to scream on these things."

"Tell that to Zone and Watts," Rinoa muttered, referring to her two friends from back home. "They always insisted wussies only screamed on rides."

"It sounds to me like they're worried about their own reputations," Tifa observed. "I bet they're just saying that to cover for being scared themselves."

[sorcery_fledgling]

"You know what, that wouldn't surprise me." Hmph. Too bad she can't keep her memories, or she'd ask them about that. Hopefully, if she gets the chance again. "Boys can be so dumb."

[fightforastar]

"Hmm, I guess they really can be." Though Tifa is a little amused by the remark. It seems like such a teenage thing to say.

"Oh come on, you never had that annoying guy friend or boyfriend that made you pull your hair?" It is very teenage. Rinoa pretty much embodies many things typical of a teenager.

[fightforastar]

"Oh, I've said it before, but I pretty much meant everyone but me was being an idiot," Tifa says with a laugh. "All my friends growing up were boys, and... well, most of my friends now, too."

[sorcery_fledgling]

"I'd say you're crazy for having so many guy friends, but I've been surrounded by guys myself for the past year." She laughs with her. "I guess that makes us both crazy."

"If I'm crazy, I don't think that's the reason. They're not dumb all the time. No more than anyone else, I think."

[sorcery_fledgling]

"They certainly do a good job of acting like it." But she's a bit biased. Her choice in men have been... interesting.

[fightforastar]

It's okay, Rinoa. Tifa's choice in man gave Sephiroth the Black Materia so he could summon Meteor and kill them all. Twice, even.

"Are you thinking of something else in particular?"

[sorcery_fledgling]

Mental/emotional baggage all around. They really do like the oddballs, don't they?

"Mm, maybe. Do men get much better when they get older?"

What other options does Squeenix provide?

"I guess it depends. But, some of them do learn how to be responsible, and honest.."

[sorcery_fledgling]

Very true. Damn you, SE.

"Oh, I know they can do that. But they just are so clueless sometimes. And dense. Really, really dense."

[fightforastar]

"Mm... No, I don't think that part really changes."

Nanaki seems perceptive enough, but he's a... cat thing. Does that even count?

[sorcery_fledgling]

"Great. I better resign myself to it now, I guess."

Her mood flips when she sees the entrance to the roller coaster up ahead.

"Hey, up ahead! Is that the entrance?"

Tifa gives her a shrug and then looks ahead.

"I think it is. Come on." She picks up her pace a bit to reach the line.
