006 - Girls' Night Out

Tifa hadn't really been looking for ways to enjoy Vatheon while she was here, but she seemed to be getting a lot of encouragement to do so lately. And she found herself really looking forward to her girls' night out with Rinoa. Not that, to be honest, she was completely sure what the difference was between a 'girls' night out' and just a night out, but she supposed she'd learn.

She approached the entrance to the carnival, looking around for the younger woman. On finding she was the first to arrive, though, her attention shifted to the bright colors and lights within. The only thing she had to compare it to was Gold Saucer, and she wondered how it compared.

"They certainly do a good job of acting like it." But she's a bit biased. Her choice in men have been... interesting.

It's okay, Rinoa. Tifa's choice in man gave Sephiroth the Black Materia so he could summon Meteor and kill them all. Twice, even.

"Are you thinking of something else in particular?"

Mental/emotional baggage all around. They really do like the oddballs, don't they?

"Mm, maybe. Do men get much better when they get older?"

"I guess it depends. But, some of them do learn how to be responsible, and honest.."

"Oh, I know they can do that. But they just are so clueless sometimes. And dense. Really, really dense."

[fightforastar]

"Mm... No, I don't think that part really changes."

Nanaki seems perceptive enough, but he's a... cat thing. Does that even count?

"Great. I better resign myself to it now, I guess."

Her mood flips when she sees the entrance to the roller coaster up ahead.

"Hey, up ahead! Is that the entrance?"

Tifa gives her a shrug and then looks ahead.

"I think it is. Come on." She picks up her pace a bit to reach the line.

Rinoa hurries with her, and frowns a bit at the length of the line. It really isn't that bad. She's just impatient.

"We're gonna be waiting a bit."

[fightforastar]

"Not that long." Tifa scans the track for the coaster and then nods to herself. "Almost half these people will get on the next time around."

"You think so? Seems like a lot of people..." To be sure, Rinoa starts mentally counting. Yep, counting.

Tifa gives her a nudge. She sees that look on Rinoa's face. Stop that.

"What's our rush anyway?"

[sorcery_fledgling]

"Well, no rush... I just hate waiting in line!"

She traces her foot on the ground, head bent.

"I'm a little impatient."

[fightforastar]

She can't help a laugh.

"I think you've still got a little growing up to do yourself."

[sorcery_fledgling]

"Well, yeah. I'm still a teenager. Though I don't always feel like it."

[fightforastar]

"You're... what, eighteen?"

Tifa isn't sure if she's ever asked or not, but that's the number that comes to mind.

[sorcery_fledgling]

"Yep. I'll be nineteen in March." It still feels a little strange, since she was just 17 when she came here.

[fightforastar]

"I don't even have two full years on you then."

[sorcery_fledgling]

Blink. Not that she thought you were an old lady Tifa, but... "Really? So that makes you, what, twenty?"

[fightforastar]

"You thought I was older, huh?"

So long as Rinoa didn't guess 30-something, she'll take it as a compliment.

[sorcery_fledgling]

"Well, not old old, but... I dunno. You act older than twenty."

She was much, much more mature. And while she does mean it in a flattering way, it worries her a little. The ones who acted that much older did so for reasons, ones that... usually weren't too happy.

[fightforastar]

"Hmm. I guess we just grow up a little faster where I'm from."

There are plenty of reasons, but some of them aren't unhappy ones. Tifa just gives another shrug and moves up in line as the next ride loads up.

[sorcery_fledgling]

Rinoa moves with her, taking those few seconds to think over her words.

"Maybe. But it's sort of sad to grow up fast, you know? Childhood and adolescence doesn't last very long."

[fightforastar]

"I never thought it was sad. I had a good childhood, and maybe circumstances rushed things a little, but I think I was about ready anyway."

Another year or two, and she probably would have left home on her own.

[sorcery_fledgling]

"Really? Ah, I guess I can see that. Some people are more built for being grown up than others."

Like her, ha.
