[OPEN] Soldier On--
Who: Serph and YOU
Where: The Park
When: November 14th, afternoon
Style: [brackets] preferred, but I can adjust
Status: WIDE OPEN
[It's been quite some time since Sera's departure, and since then, there have been others -- both Tribe and friends -- who have left Vatheon and not returned. Serph doesn't know if they'll return. Maybe they will. Maybe they won't. In the end, the decision isn't in his hands.
Before, there hadn't been time for these departures to affect him.
Which is why he's in the park, kicking a hacky sack. Signless had taught him the game when he'd noticed Serph watching him, so many months ago. In some ways, this is an imitation of that time; while Serph's content to play on his own, he's more than happy to play with people passing by.
Will you join in?]

ohai
It's a bit rude to stare, but Kimblee really can't help it; in the five or six months that he had been here, this is completely new to him.]
...What on earth are you doing?
y hello thar--
This is a game that was taught to me.
[Serph holds the hacky sack -- it's rainbow in colour -- so Kimblee can see it more clearly before tossing it over in an easy lob.]
Try it.

That's too small and uneven to be a really good ball.
no subject
How large should a 'really good ball' be?
no subject
[Tidus holds his hands out about the same width as a soccer/blitzball.]
But I guess you wouldn't be playing whatever it is you're playing. What game is it?

[Passing by, she notices the game Serph was playing, reminded of her Matesprit. Hacky sack was not something she had done in awhile, and seeing as she had some time to dispose of, it seemed like a good way to spend it.]
[She marches over, and that is when a sense of familiarity washes over her. She had talked to him before, but she did not think too recently. She might have even still been a little feral back then.]
Looking for company? It is better with more people.

As his answer to Disciple's question, he kicks the hacky sack towards her in an easy arc, as he'd been taught by Signless.]
no subject
[She bounces it off her knee, buying herself time, then sends it back with an easy tap from the side of her foot. Now it is your turn, Serph. She flashes him a quick smile.]

He doesn't say anything immediately, but simply observes Serph playing for a moment. The kicking part especially has his attention.]
What is this?
no subject
A game taught to me by Signless.
[And with that, Serph kicks the hacky sack over to Gale in an easy lob.]
no subject
But he might not have been expecting it to be kicked at him right now. So, it's not that he misses the ball, not when he's used to kicking as a reaction to things. The problem being, however, that his reaction is also to use the blades in his shoes...
So, in short, the hackey sack has been very quickly impaled. Oops.]

At least, until she sees him mess up for the first time. Then he might hear her snicker a little as it drops to the ground.]
Whoa. [A sort of sarcastic, impressed tone-- although he really is doing a lot better than she might've expected.] Looks like you've been at it for a while.

You try.

[. . . She doesn't even know herself whether or not she's serious about this question.]
no subject
It could be.
[So no, not really. He lightly tosses the ball over to Argilla using his foot for her to try.]

It helps train control.
