One of Vatheon's perks was that it wasn't necessary to work; almost everything was free. As far as Shizuo was concerned, however, that was also one of the drawbacks. He missed working. Of course, his track history for holding down jobs was poor, up until he finally relented and became a body guard, a position where his strength came in handy. But that was exactly what left him feeling off. Too much strength and energy, with no where to vent it. It made him feel restless - even more so after Izaya had denied him a good chase. Shizuo wouldn't have wished an attack on Vatheon under any circumstances, but he could not deny that having a reason to channel that jittery energy would probably help him relax.

Without that prospect, Shizuo tried to focus on other things, like keeping track of the happenings around Vatheon and keeping an eye out just in case anything strange happened. Which is exactly what he was doing, walking in the park - trying to take his mind off of everything. After a while, he paused his walk in favor of leaning against a tree and having a smoke.

[ Never let it be said that demons were nice. This one, no. Definitely not nice. At least he didn't think he was. Hell, he'd rather give up his position than be called nice. Moving in was just a circumstance. He didn't know anyone else and truth be told, he hated being alone. It was the next course of action.

There's a huff and a frown from that and he's about to open his mouth to protest until Shizuo gets to that last bit. Then he's quiet. ]

I don't give a fuck about him.

[ And as if catching himself, he turns right back to Shizuo. ]

It's just kinda weird so I figured you'd probably know if it was normal with that weirdo!

[It didn't sound like Laharl didn't give a fuck, but Shizuo just shook his head.]

I don't know, it probably is normal. Who the hell knows what goes through his head? The weird part is that you know about it.

[Izaya isn't exactly the type to let other people know he's feeling - whatever it is he's feeling. Just like it isn't like Izaya to get caught when he and Shizuo are fighting. Just like it isn't like him to not run when Shizuo is bearing over him.

Yeah, there might be a pattern there.]

But if you don't give a fuck, then drop it. It's not going to make your life any easier to try and figure it out. He's a bastard.

[ Honestly, he didn't know what he was feeling really. Izaya said he wasn't the kind people liked so he tried to dismiss it. Unfortunately, this wasn't going very well. Stupid feelings. Everything was so confusing, admittedly. ]

[ It's not like he was paying extra attention or nothing. ]

...Fine. Guess he doesn't like anyone messing in his business anyway.

[Everything about it is weird. Especially the fact that Laharl is standing here talking to him, of all people, about Izaya. Which makes Shizuo think of something.]

You going to tell him you asked me about it?

[It would be kind of funny for Izaya to hear something like, I was worried about you so I went to talk to Shizuo!]

[ And suddenly all the redness has just gone shooting up to this kid's cheeks. ]

N... no! Why the hell would I do that?!

[ Besides, if he did, he was sure Izaya would never let him hear the end of it. The constant teasing of being told that he cared was something he wasn't too keen on getting back to. ]

[Shizuo often verges on oblivious when it comes to reading other people because, unlike Izaya, he doesn't make a habit out of studying them. As such, though it is obviously clear that Laharl does care enough to ask around about Izaya, Shizuo is surprised - and a little confused - by the intense reaction to his question. In fact, it reminds him a little of the way Sola acted before he stormed out during tea with Zelda.]

Okay, okay. You don't need to get worked up about it. I was just asking. Probably a good idea not to, anyway.

[ But he huffs slightly, arms folding back across his chest though he glances aside to attempt to hide the blood that was tainting his cheeks a rather deep shade of red. Muuuuch calmer now.

Apparently, Shizuo, this kid's temper is as bad as yours. ]

Yeah, yeah. He'd probably never let me hear the end of it anyway!

Right. He probably wouldn't like that you were talking to me about him, either. I don't think he'd want me to know that he's been "low."

[Though...it had been a little obvious.

Shizuo shrugs and finally tosses away his cigarette.]

[ He's pulling himself from the tree though. ]

Heh. Like he'd care.

[ And a bit of the roll of his shoulders before he continues. ]

Didn't know anyone else who knew him. Had to ask.

[Why is the demon so sure that Izaya wouldn't care? Shizuo doesn't like that. The stupid flea should care if his little friends were running around playing nice with the man he hates the most. Now Shizuo feels irritated.]

Okay. You asked. I guess that means we're done.

[His cigarette is done, too, so Shizuo might as well resume his walk. He straightens and starts off.]
