Fai is out wandering around and enjoying the weather. He had chosen a little blue umbrella to carry with him in case he decided to go shopping, knowing that his brother was going to need lots of types of food to regain his strength. He hasn't made it to the shop yet though as he pauses to look up at the sky.

Slowly he lowers the umbrella and closes that one golden eye to let the rain hit his face. He smiles softly as he feels the rain drip down his face and start to mat his hair down. Normally the rain gives him memories that he would rather avoid but somehow he can't seem to be upset. The one thing he has pursued and wished for for much of his life is there, how could he be upset? And the vampire is incapable of getting sick so being drenched to the bone doesn't bother him. For some reason he feels like enjoying the rain for once instead of dwelling on the past..which is rare for him.

"This world really is amazing.."

Fai holds his hand out and watches as the rain hits his skin. "To make things happen that even the strongest of mages aren't capable of..What kind of place is this? What powers lie beneath the surface? What kind of price do we have to pay for the things we are given?"

Everything comes with a price..Fai almost fears what his might be but for now he tries not to dwell on it. Instead he folds up the umbrella. He doesn't feel like using it any longer.

"For some it probably is." Fai suddenly remembered himself and smiled brightly. "By the way, my name is Fai D. Flourite."

"Uesugi Kenshin," he offered a small yet polite bow. "A pleasure, Fai-dono." His honorifics were very formal, as expected of a warlord.

"It's nice to meet you..ah..would you prefer I called you Uesugi-san or Kenshin-san? I'm never sure how the people of different worlds like to be addressed." Fai gives a little bow as well.

"Whichever you prefer," Kenshin replied. He'd come to not concern himself much over names and titles.

"I'll use Kenshin-san then. It's easier to say." And Fai was all about simplicity. Then some of his playfulness starts to peek out. "Or maybe Ken-san! That's even easier!"

Very few people had ever called him Ken. "If you so desire," he said with a bit of a smirk.

"I like it! So Ken-san it is. What is it you do on your world, Ken-san?" Fai smiled brightly, clearly pleased with having a new acquaintance.

"I am a samurai," Kenshin replied, "lord of the Echigo region. You, Fai-dono?"

[behind_my_smile]

"Samurai? I don't know much about samurai. I did travel with a rather grumpy ninja though. I don't do a whole lot. I used to be a mage but I don't do that any more. I mostly travel worlds now."

Fai talked as if traveling worlds and giving up his magic was the easiest thing to do.

"Ah, I do employ a ninja in my army, though she is not quite so angry," Kenshin added with a smile. He did miss the odd blonde ninja. It had been a long time since he'd seen a sign of her.

"A mage? Quite an interesting profession." He dabbled in magics, but only one type.

"It was interesting but I no longer have those abilities anymore. It's for the best that they are gone. Powers like those can make people do terrible things." Talking from experience here..a monster was created from his dear Ashura-ou because of these powers..

Kenshin could see the pain in his eyes. It was hard to miss, the pain of loss and regret. "Magic is certainly a fickle art."

"When used correctly it can help a lot of people. When used incorrectly..worlds can be destroyed." Fai waved it off as if this was a topic he didn't like discussing.

"I don't have to worry about such things any more."

"Indeed." Kenshin had seen quite a bit of destruction in his time, particularly with the destruction of the two so-called unifiers. Oda Nobunaga was particularly destructive, using his powers to summon demons to try to control the lords and their people.

Fai decided it was time to change the subject before things dipped a little too far into the personal. "What brought you out on such a rainy day?"

He shook the thermos in his hand gently. "I require more sake."

[behind_my_smile]

"Were you heading to the store for it, or one of the bars? I know a couple good taverns in this town." And he worked at one of them.

"The store," Kenshin replied. "Though I would not be adverse to visiting a bar."

[behind_my_smile]

"Both Johnny's tavern and Otoha's bar are very nice places to visit. I work at Johnny's. They both serve all kinds of things. But if you want to have some to keep in your home, you'd probably be better off going to the store." Fai was more then happy to offer advice and plug his work place.

Kenshin went through a lot of sake on a regular basis, and he could hold it very well. He pretty much out-drank everyone he knew. But that was beside the point. Having a drinking buddy was important.

"Then let's go to Johnny's, if they serve sake." The foreign liquors just didn't taste right. Only sake would do.

"I'll lead the way." Fai turned and headed towards where Johnny's bar was located. "I'm not much of a drinker but the tavern is kind of a..cross between a bar and a cafe. It's a fun place."

"Interesting," Kenshin agreed. Food was hardly out of the question either. Foreign foods actually interested him, unlike foreign drinks. He found he liked a few of them, including chocolate and ice cream.

"I'll let you look at the menu. Pick whatever you want and I'll get it for you." It isn't a long walk and Fai leads the way inside the tavern. He held the door open for Kenshin. "Pick whatever table you want."

Kenshin picked a table near the door. He liked to watch the people come and go, and the samurai within was satisfied with a potentially quick exit route. The menu held a lot of mysteries. He didn't recognize any of these foods. "What do you recommend?"

"Well, lets see..would you like an actual meal? Then I would suggest one of the sandwiches. If you just want a snack, I know the desserts are all very tasty~" Fai knew that because he made most of them. Baking was one of those things that he enjoyed.
