Who: Orihara Izaya & All Of Vatheon
Where: The park
When: Sometime towards the evening but not at night
Style: Prose or action. I really don't care.
Status: Open
He looked like he hadn't slept in days. And really? He probably hadn't. He walked slowly, his shoulders drooped with a bit of a glazed expression on his face. He knew it wasn't safe to be out and about in a state like this but his day was coming to an end and he planned on sleeping tonight. Swinging from his hand was a small plastic bag and in his other hand was a bottle of what looked to be tea.
As he shuffled through the park along the path, he eventually stopped by a tree that was just a few feet away from the path. He walked on over and all but collapsed at the tree's base, leaning up against it and stretched his legs out in front of him. He closed his eyes for a moment and took a breath. A few minutes passed of him just sitting there before finally, he moved again and began to unpack his bag.
A box of ootoro. He began to eat his dinner with his fingers, the bottle of tea on his other side. Of which he occasionally took a sip from. The typically observant informant seemed to be...well. Not so observant tonight. He seemed to be, anyway.

He sat down on the ground in front of Izaya, wondering what happened to the man. It was the first time Ruca had seen him looking so tired.
"I already know. But it's okay. A frie-" he stopped himself from saying that. Chitose wasn't a friend. If anything he should probably consider her an enemy. But he couldn't do that. He liked Chitose. She was a good person, even though she believed in Mathias' twisted ideals. "...Someone from my world helps me gather some information about Vathoen." he said in the end.
"But yes, you are right." He hesitated a little, then a very soft smile appeared on his face. "...What kind of books do you have?" Yes. He would never refuse such an offer. When books are involved everything else loses all its importance.
...And it was a good excuse to avoid answering the last question. Still, Ruca had to think about looking for a place where he can practice sword-fighting later. No matter how much he wanted to avoid trouble, trouble would always find him, so it would be best if he was prepared for that.

"I'm fine. I've just been very busy," Izaya explained, dropping his hand and he even offered Ruca a reassuring smile. "But it's pretty nice of you to be concerned. Even if you don't really know me," he admitted.
He looked a bit surprised at Ruca's immediate cut off and made a mental reminder to ask the boy about that later. Right now, he'd simply just nod his head a little. "Good. Most people who have lived here for a while know about as much as me. Unfortunately, it's not that easy to find out about Vatheon. I've been an informant for a while but I've always focused on people rather than places in general. What good does that do me? But I also came from a world where the city you lived in didn't impact your life so much. Not in the way Vatheon does. It's like Vatheon itself is an individual person," he said and glanced up above, through the branches of the tree and at the globe around them.
"Scaaary stuff."
He dropped his head back down and then almost instantly laugh. "Oh, God, I have a bunch of philosophy books. You probably will sleep right through them," he said, recalling the books that he had gotten in his stocking around Christmas. It had been nice to see old classics. "And you might be too young to get through them but if you really want, I don't mind lending them."
Luckily for Ruca, Izaya is both too tired and hungry to really care about repeating himself. It was the park after all and he could expect people to walk by just fine. He'll continue eating, that is, until he suddenly stopped and then offered a piece of the sushi out to Ruca.
"Do you want to try some? It's really good," he offered.

It was as simple as that. Even though it didn't actually mattered to Ruca if someone was kind to him or not. He would still want to help and he would still be concerned, showing kindness even to his enemies.
Though, there were exceptions. But towards those very few people, Ruca felt absolutely nothing. Their actions made him angry, but he couldn't bring himself to hate them. He just couldn't hate anyone.
"Please, make sure you'll rest properly when you go back to your apartment." He said, concern never vanishing from his eyes, even though he was smiling softly all this time.
"Is that really how it is?" He sighed a little. "Back home there are a lot of cities or towns that affect the people living in them. Like Tenos, where winter seems to last forever... or Ashihara, that is sinking because of rising sea level... but I can't think of a city that would be in any way similar to Vatheon." he smiled somewhat sheepishly. "...I wish I could learn something more about this city, though I can't help but have a bad feeling about this."
Sometimes it was better not to know too much and Ruca was painfully aware of that. Some of the memories he had from his past life weren't exactly nice and happy.
At the mentioning of books, Ruca gave Izaya a surprised look.
"I'm pretty sure nothing like that will happen."
He couldn't imagine a book that would be too hard for him to read, neither he could imagine falling asleep while reading one. Besides, philosophy sounded interesting and he was curious what kind of books Izaya reads. And maybe he would also learn something about the other's world from them? Also, he was definitely not too young. His soul wasn't at least. Before he was reincarnated as human, he'd lived a hundreds of years as an arch-demon after all.
But of course the past and present didn't have much to do with each other, yet the past still had an impact on Ruca's current life.
"...I would love to borrow them." he said, sounding a little as if he was trying to prove something by doing that.
When Izaya offered him sushi, the boy shook his head lightly.
"Thank you, but I'm not hungry."
Sushi wasn't something he was unfamiliar with. He had eaten it a lot of times on his journey and even had a recipe how to prepare it.

The incapacity to hate was something that Izaya was slightly envious of. He liked to think that he was mostly like that but then came that big, angry, blond thorn in his side and then all prior notions were lost to the wind.
"I promise I will. I'll lock myself up and go to bed," he promised and he really would. He was dead tired and just thinking about his bed made his toes curl. He was lucky that his roommates were pretty quiet. It would probably be the first time in months that he would sleep through an entire night. He was a big nap person.
"Well...I don't know. Well that's weather, see. Weather I understand. Natural, environmental changes and even the society of the city. I suppose I meant that Vatheon is different as in it seems to be...A bit more connected to the residents through mythical means. Like, I didn't get random curses in my old city. I didn't need to touch something every now and then to keep my strength up," he explained, thinking back on Ikebukuro.
"You and everyone else, Ruca. Any city that takes people from other worlds and traps them here can't necessarily be good. It's almost like a scientist has collected a variety of specimen from different worlds and has set up this city to observe their interactions and their way of living in some massive psycho-socio study. And then maybe when we die here, they take us away briefly to examine our biological aspects and then patch us up and send us back..." This was the first time that he had shared his theory with someone. It was mostly because he felt like Ruca...might actually respect the theory. "Otherwise, you'd have to wonder what good bringing us in does. I mean yeah we power the coral but that couldn't be it..."
When Ruca confirmed that he would indeed like to borrow his books, Izaya smiled. "Great, I'll get them to you as soon as I can," he said. Maybe it would give them something to discuss in the future. "I'll leave them at your home sometime. I know where you live so it's not a problem," he said.
While that might have sounded sketchy, it really wasn't. Izaya knew where everyone lived. Especially the people who he interacted with the most. And he had planned on going to pick up Ruca that one day to head off to the library but that hadn't happened.

For the very same reason he looked embarrassed when Izaya said he liked him.
"M-me? Why would you... I'm mean... I'm not a kind of person anyone would like."
He listened carefully to Izaya's next words, nodding when the other promised to get some rest and when he explained about the city. However, Izaya's theory made Ruca frown a little, as he considered the possibility.
"Yes, you might be right..." he said looking deep in thought. "It does seem like that, but... there are so many things we don't know about. The main reason why we're here might actually turn out to be something none of us here has ever thought about."
Experiments. He remembered how on Naraka people experimented on Avatars to create a mass-destruction weapon with the said Avatars as a power source. It was horrible and Ruca couldn't believe people are capable of doing such cruel things. The Avatars were also humans and yet they were treated no better than monsters! It wasn't right...
"You... know? How?" he looked surprised now. There was only one person that wouldn't make him surprised if she said something like that
because Chitose is a stalker, but anyone else?...Though, they could still go to the library together one day.
