Kanaya's shop has changed a bit since it's quiet grand opening. The dress forms out front all have been clothed in a variety of styles; the specific outfits on display change often, sometimes as often as every day. Men's and women's fashions are available, though there is usually more dresses than anything else.

Inside there are a few more outfits available for viewing, but this is not a clothing store. None of these outfits have a price tag, as the clothing here is hand made by the proprietor. a small sign on the back wall indicates that this business is for clothing repairs, tailoring, and custom commission work, though you are welcome to make an offer on something if you like it.


A single bell chimes when the door is opened, summoning the proud owner of this workshop and boutique from the back room.

[It's sooner than one might have expected when Karkat makes his way to visit Kanaya's shop. That would be because he lucked out: Eridan woke up the same day he did, and with Feferi having already bought bleach and dye, fixing his hair was quick to do. Finding the place is also easy enough. Between Kanaya's directions, his familiarity with Vatheon, and the nearness to the Plaza, it's easy for him to just head over after his customary visit to touch the coral.]

[Neither the sign's wordiness nor the purpose of the shop surprise him, when he finds it. He steps inside, and though the ring of the bell announces his presence, he still calls out for her.]

Kanaya? It's Karkat. I'm here for whatever it is you wanted help with.

[He might look out of place here in his jeans and turtleneck (not his usual shirt), but fashion's never been much his thing. There's also a bruise on his chin, but he doesn't act concerned about that; the high collar is just to conceal his neck scar.]

[Kanaya wasn't in the middle of anything that couldn't be set aside immediately, so when she heard the bell she made her way to the front room.]

Oh, hello Karkat! I see you've taken care of the hair situation. The black dye looks good on you.

[His expression falls a bit at that.]

It's black every other normal day. What's so special about the dye?

[But with her here, he heads on over to where she stands.]

It can always be blacker, and a lady with a true sense of style knows this.

Thanks for coming over. I need to ask for your opinion and I also need your advice.

Blacker? What, does it stand out from the rest? I wanted it to look normal.

[He looks up as though trying to see his own hair, and he fusses at his bangs with one hand. Usually he couldn't care any more than it takes to wash and get the tangles out, but he's never had to worry about hair dye before this incident cropped up.]

[He does glance back as she brings up the other topic.]

What's the issue, then? Or issues?

No no, you did a good job of it. It's just apparent to a trained eye that your hair is all a little bit darker.

[Kanaya miraculously stops herself from giggling a little at Karkat's fussyness]

And I don't really have any sort of issue, though I can certainly understand why you might think there is nothing but serious business behind and requests for your expertise. I want your opinion on a matter that you probably don't find too important, but I thought I should ask anyway. I'm going to be making a garment for Eridan, and I wanted to know what his matesprite might like to see.

I'm not the one who dyed it. Eridan woke up later in the evening and did it for me.

[With her reassurance, however, he stops his fussing and drops his hand back to his side--]

That's it? Kanaya, I don't know jack shit about fashion and even less frequently can be assed to care. The only clothing I've ever gifted him with was a cape and some scarves, and those were easy because he wears them constantly and his favorite colors aren't hard to guess. Specific garments are more than likely out of the range of worthwhile comments I can make, and the most specific thing I can say is something that doesn't make him look like a dipshit wriggler playing dress up.

16th, shortly after her message

[Though the princess is slightly unkempt and just a little worn looking, she shows up promptly after Kanaya's message. A business arrangement with the Medic... hadn't she mentioned that he was helping her figure out her condition? In that case, it can't be good for anyone involved if he's vanished suddenly. She steps into the store, glancing around.]

[Kanaya's voice rings out from the workshop, but the inflection is a bit odd for the young troll. She calls out in almost a sing-song tone from the rear room.]

Hello~! I'm in here, but please, come on back!

[Kanaya is currently pinning pieces of fabric to a dress form. In an effort to show her own skill to visitors in the shop, she has elected to wear one of her more ambitious designs. If Zelda accepts the invitation to the workspace, Kanaya will stop and give her a smile.]

Hello princess.

[She does accept the invitation, though she spends a little while looking at the front room of the shop before heading back to see Kanaya. Her outfit is... significantly less than Zelda is used to seeing Kanaya wearing, but she smiles politely regardless.]

Please, just Zelda is fine. This is not exactly my court, after all.

[Kanaya draws out the name just a bit, almost savoring the experience. Quite a deviation from her normally precise vocal patterns, she seems to be speaking more fluidly and melodically than her normally almost mechanical intonation.]

I have gotten a few pieces ready for you to try on. They aren't quite finished yet, but they are at the stage where a fitting would be appropriate before I go any further. Would you be willing to try them on for me? [Did she just flutter her eyelashes? I think she did...]

Very well. I would rather not anyone walk in while I am changing, do you mind if I shut the door?

[We're both ladies here, Kanaya. Doesn't matter if they're a different species, right? Playing dress up is completely normal!]

[Yes, perfectly normal. We're both ladies, yes. Ahh, the perks of working in fashion. Kanaya lets Zelda handle the door to the room, while she maneuvers a rack of clothes out from behind some similar racks. This one is marked with a tag, one adorned with a hand drawn triforce symbol. ]

[The Princess may not notice any subtle flirting, but Kanaya's not sure how she would react to anything stronger. In fact, she's not entirely aware that she's doing any flirting yet, subtle or otherwise.]

[The chiming of the bell heralds a new arrival to the store. At the front of the store stands the Disciple, carefully looking around at the storefront.]

[Recently the clothing she had worn had gotten ripped, even worse then usual, and she needed it fixed. Way back on Alternia all those years ago, such things had been taken care of by the Dolorosa. She had been told that the jadeblood, Kanaya, shared the love of clothing that Lulu had. Hopefully she had come to the right place.]

[She was a little hesitant being here, seeing as the last time she had seen 'smallulu' they had both been drugged by cupcakes, memories of that day still a bit hazy. Disciple wasn't sure how the jadeblood would react to seeing her.]

It has been a trying week. I...[Disciple averts her gaze, her thoughts drifting over the events of the week. Shortly, she meets the eyes of the other troll again.]... I am doing better, I believe. In more ways then I have right to.

Hello then, Kanaya, It is a pleasure to meet you as well. I'd like to apologize for my condition the last time we met.

I am glad that you are doing better. You have no need to apologize for that, it was not your fault after all. In fact, I was hoping I could seek your forgiveness for my response.

[Maka doesn't usually stop by shops that specialize in clothing, she has everything she needs as it stands, so why would she? Although the familiar jade text on the sign stops her.

Reading it brings a small smile to her face. It's Kanaya's shop! She's awfully talented, Maka feels slightly jealous of how creative the other girl is. But still, Kanaya's a friend, being jealous of friends never worked out well for her. It wouldn't hurt to pay a visit just for a little while.]

Yes! I make all my own clothes, as well as everything on display here in my shop. So... [Kanaya looks over Maka's outfit/uniform with a professional eye, and is not entirely displeased with it.] Are you interested in adding some variety to your wardrobe then?

Oh don't worry about that! I don't get too many customers or visitors, and while I do have a lot of work to finish, I am still quite on schedule. I consider interruptions like this as pleasant way to take a break.

[ Kanaya swings into the backroom and returns in a second, pushing a nice office chair. She offers the seat to Maka, and sits herself on a stool kept in the main room. ]

So how have you been? I'm sorry I haven't tried to talk with you in forever but things have been very busy for me.
