Where: Wandering about the city. I haven't gotten old Douchefin out and about in a while.

[It has been so many sweeps since he's simply been able to walk around without a care in the world.

Despite himself, he has to admit that he's becoming comfortable here. He hasn't seen the Grand Highblood in a little while, though he's well-aware of his proximity when he's at his hive at Ordo. He has a moirail who seems to be doing a good job of keeping him calm and stable, not to mention a kismesis to keep him entertained. The emotional hurts of various romantic failures have lost their sting.

He's turned to other pursuits now, and has picked up reading again, and watching television, and even swimming for the pure pleasure of it. It seems as though even the threat of sea monsters is not one that will arrive any time soon.

He picks up an ice cream at a vendor and wanders along, nibbling at it delicately with his sharp teeth. It's a vice that he's picked up here, and he loves the sweetness and the biting cold of it.

Feel free to bother him. He's in such a terribly good mood]

[What is with small winged creatures using his head for a perch?? He scowls and waves at it to try to scare it away. Hopefully it won't start singing.]

[Dualscar is hardly the only one our and about right now, in fact, Eridan is taking this time to walk his chocobo around. The poor thing's been kept in the back lawnring and has hardly gotten to stretch its legs at all. Eridan's only leading him around also, he's almost of age to start riding, but not yet. Though, when Eridan sees his ancestor, he half wants to get his attention, half wants to hide behind his overgrown flapbeast.]

[He still doesn't know how to act or feel around Dualscar, so turning tail and hurrying back to the hive seems like the greatest option--but his chocobo thinks differently. Definitely with how the blue colored bird is pulling Eridan towards his ancestor, despite how much he himself is yanking and cursing at the disobedient chocobo. But once they are basically right in front of Dualscar, Eridan straightens up and tries to better compose himself. He definitely wasn't just pulled over by a chocobo fascinated by the older version of his master.]

I--Hello, Dualscar, uh sorry about Dua--[Oh that's right, he definitely named his chocobo after his ancestor... awkward.]

Dual--uh--la... Dualla, yeah. Sorry about Dualla, they're a bit fuckin' dense and owerly curious for their own good... So, what hawe you been up to, hawen't exactly seen ya in a good fuckin' while.

[Oh god everything is so awkward and it hurts.]

Wwhat the fuck!

[He waves frantically at them, striding towards a restaurant and glaring around to see if there's anyone who is watching him]

[Dualscar certainly notices the oversized blue bird heading towards him, not to mention the young troll hanging onto its harness and cursing at it.

He watches them come, utterly bemused, and then wrinkles his nose at the smell of the thing. It pokes its enormous beak at his fin and he ducks away, holding up a hand to protect himself from it]

Wwhat in cod's name is this thing, Eridan?

[People are watching you, of course. Because now there are like, 20 birds all over you, tweeting away happily and seem to be quite amazing at dodging all your efforts at swatting them away.

[Eridan definitely swats at the bird as it tries to poke at Dualscar. It lets out a disappointed "Wark" but pulls back obediently.]

It's a chocobo. They're good as mounts and shit, when they're fuckin' listenin' like they should.

[A leveled glare at "Dualla" as he makes that remark. The bird looking a touch annoyed at it, but otherwise standing proper.]

Is this honestly the first time you'we seen one?

[Unbelievvable!

He snarls and heads for a fountain. See if the birds will stay on him while he's in the water.

When he gets there, he pulls off his shirt and jumps into the spray.]

They're not nativve to any wworld I'vve evver been to. [Dualscar looks at Dualla with a more speculative eye now, considering its possible uses] You lookin' at joining the cavalreaper squad, boy? [He's joking, and smirks at Eridan in a friendly fashion - at least, for Dualscar]

[Aww, well they'll just perch around the fountain then.]

[Also there are a lot more birds now.]

[This is getting kind of silly.]

[He eyes the birds as he washes himself off completely, making sure that there's nothing on him that was attracting the birds]

Wwhat do you want?!

Bird feed usually.

[A familiar voice from the side, Summoner stepping over, hands in the pockets of his nice, tight, bright red new pants. He gives Dualscar a smile, peering into the fountain inquisitively.]

You, uh... taking a dip? Oh, and shirtless too. I'll try to control myself.

Pffft yeah right. I used to ride my lusus when I was out huntin' for Gl'bgolyb. Definitely gawe me a great adwantage and while this owergrown cluckbeast can't fly like he could, I think he'd still serwe as a suitable mount.

[He catches the friendliness behind the smirk and it definitely pauses him. Something's definitely different about the troll before him. He seems almost... happy, maybe even at ease compared to how he was the other times they spoke.]

[ It's hardly the Helmsman's intent to come across the seadweller, but he can't exactly change course when he sees the man. He has nothing on hand, it had just been a trip out to touch the coral and then he'd been heading back to the hive where he'd stay the rest of the day. He felt uneasy around people, after all, but there wasn't any avoiding it sometimes.

He ducks his head down, continuing. It would be up to the highblood to let him pass unbothered, and he wonders if he might just be that lucky this time. ]

[He scowls at the Summoner, stepping out of the fountain. His hair is plastered down and his thorax shines with water, his gills gaping a bit and then closing tight again]

And wwhat do you wwant?

[Yeah, he's doing pretty well for himself. He fends off another inquisitive sniff from the chocobo and moves around to Eridan's other side]

A mount for wwhat purpose, then? Gl'bgolyb isn't here to hunt for.

[...Seadwellers are...so strange. Sorry if he's kind of staring right now.]

Uhh, nothing in particular. [Flicks his hand and suddenly all the birds fly up and disperse.]

Seeing how you were.

[Dualscar has just turned away from the ice cream vendor and sees the Helmsman coming, ducking his head and looking small in a manner that tells Dualscar that he saw him]

Wwhere are you off to, boy?

Well... Yeah. But, uh it doesn't make for a bad means if trawel. And who knows, could hawe an adaantage ower whatewer we might get attacked by in the future. If we do. We probably will.

[A look of warning to Dualla as he tries to sniff Dualscar. God, he is NOT that interesting smelling you stupid bird!]

[ He shrinks down further when he's taken note of, deferentially keeping his dimly glowing eyes focused on the ground. ]

To my hive. May I therve you, highblood?

[ He's really gotten used to this over time. Dualscar, for all the power he had, treated him surprisingly well. At least he didn't have to worry about any danger to himself as long as he behaved properly.

It wasn't too difficult to do so. ]

[Dualscar is aware that Signless disapproves of the fact that he requires Psiioniic to come to him regularly, though he's been relaxing the requirement slowly over time. He still cares about keeping the Helmsman properly trained for when they go home, to a certain extent, but also he simply likes having him around every so often. A little taste of proper highblood lifestyle. And that's worth a little inconvenience to the Helmsman]

Come, wwalk wwith me. Or float, wwhatevver. [He heads for a park nearby, which he knows is generally not crowded.]

You wwill ride it around the city, then? [He chuckles with amusement] Just be sure that stench doesn't get into your clothes.

[He glances at Eridan] So wwhere did you get it? They havve these for sale around here somewwhere?

I'm irritated and besieged by featherbeasts, noww. Before that, I wwas havvin' a good day. [He rolls his eyes and folds his arms] So you havve the ability to control animals, then?

[ He's just relieved that Dualscar had thought to amend the order. It had been months of physical therapy, and walking was very distinctly still not his strong suit. He trails obediently just behind and off to the side of the seadweller, easily visible in peripheral vision without asserting himself in any way. ]
