Who: Shirley and anyone
Where: Near the coral/later near the elevator
When: Late evening, sure.
Style: I will always match, but slight preference for brackets.
Status: Opeeeennn \o/
[There seems to be a red-headed girl near the Coral today; her hair, and her...well, everything soaking wet from the trip down. She's breathing heavily, still recovering from...something, as suggested by the blood on her shirt, but she at least doesn't seem to be in pain anymore--so she is able to walk on her own two feet, her head held high, despite the circumstances.
She doesn't seem at all bothered to be here; with a mere towel around her body (a rather pathetic attempt to hide the blood, until she can get changed), and another for her hair, she walks on, rediscovering the city she once knew.]
...It's like a dream, being here again. This is so hard to believe...
[And then she keeps going until she comes across a rather large elevator, staring at it with awe.]
Ah-- this wasn't here before!

[...Approach?]

[Shirley doesn't quite know what to say to that. "Not from her side"...? Then from where--his own?
She hadn't thought about it before, perhaps not since she suddenly got all of her memories back...but she did want him to repent. Just as much as she'd wanted to herself. She wanted them to repent together and be sorry together for everything they'd done.
She doesn't know if Vatheon would give them that chance, but she supposes they'll find out, somehow. Its streets seem even quieter than usual, but she can't find it in her heart to mind it.]
Um...others?
[She'd think that'd be a good thing, to see their friends again. But judging by his tone, it's...not so much.]
no subject
Maybe mentioning C.C. would be irrelevant. They never met, after all.]
Suzaku, Nunnally, and...[A pause. He's bracing for her reaction:] Mao.
[He lets that sink in for a moment, before speaking up again.]
I'm sure you remember him.

[The first two names hadn't phased her. She should have been excited to see them; no one else from Britannia had been around, the last time. But she knows another name is coming--one that would change everything--
She just didn't know which.
And when he says it, it hits like a ton of bricks, her eyes widening.
It does take a moment to sink in, sure; her eyes widen, and she even freezes in place, taking a hesitant step back.]
No...b-but I thought--
[He was gone...
but then again, she's here, isn't she? Heh...]
no subject
It was all his fault she was even involved with him in the first place, wasn't he?]
He won't hurt you here. I promise. [He lets those words hang in the air for a minute. He...wasn't all that great with promises, though, was he?] Suzaku's here; I'll have him guard you when I can't.
[A beat.]
I won't lose anyone I'm close to here by him.
no subject
[She won't run. She wants to at first, but seeing him step forward makes her stop before she gets the chance to do much more. After all, she wouldn't want to be a bother by making him come after her.
But in the end, as she can tell by his words...she already is one.]
Thank you... [She frowns, taking a step closer to him instead.] I don't-- I don't know what to say.
[But then again, maybe she does:]
Although I wish...I wish you didn't have to protect me. Because I...I want to protect you.
[A frown, as she still remembers her final moments, playing in her head even now.]
But I guess I can't, in the end. ['I'm not strong enough.']
no subject
But so had Rolo. Rolo, when he had saved him. And he had done it himself, when trying to save Nunnally. Was it the love she mentioned she had for him?
Yup, feeling awkward all over again.]
You don't have to worry about me, Shirley. [And there's a smile, however fake it has to be right now, to calm her nerves. Of course he wouldn't let on that it was this way...] I'm sorry, I'm putting too many worries on you for your first few minutes here. I just wanted to warn you about Mao, and to let you know I'll make sure you're seen to. For right now, getting yourself some new clothes should be the priority.
no subject
Love--that's exactly it, and it's so simple and plain as day that perhaps Shirley never felt the need to explain. Not until her last moments, anyway...because he could tell, couldn't he? How she felt about him
To Madame President, to everyone else, it was so obvious, and yet...still, it has to be like this.
In the end, she supposes she has to accept it, though.
Because truthfully, she's lucky to even be here, and she's beginning to realize that now.]
Of course. [She'd almost forgotten; that's where they were headed, the marketplace.] ...We're nearly there now.
And I understand. I promise I'll be careful, so please...don't apologize.
no subject
Everyone. All of the lives he touched. Shirley, Euphemia...]
I'm glad to hear it. [That she'll be careful, he means. The part about not having to apologize...he needed to apologize though, didn't he?
Ahhh yup that sure is an awkward silence from him.]

The sound of their footsteps are so loud as they walk, too; but she isn't the type to waste an opportunity like this, so she refuses to let it go on. After a few deep breaths, she allows her thoughts to gather and musters up the courage to speak again.
Even if it is just a simple question, in the end.]
Have...have you been here long, Lulu?
[She does remember spending time with him, the last time she'd lived in the city; but she was also around long enough to know that people come and go.
It's definitely worth asking.]
no subject
Heh.]
I've been here about four months now, if I'm correct in my calculations. [Which they both know is correct anyway.]
Four months and I have only gained more questions then answers.
no subject
...Maybe they can forget about Britannia for a while, and the war, and everything else...]
I see. That's a long time, but...I'm sure if anyone could figure this place out, it's you.
[She takes a glance around the shops just then, trying to decide which one she wants to go into first, but quickly adds:]
I'm not sure I mind it much, though. Being here.
[It's...peaceful. For the most part, at least.
Isn't that what he wanted? For Nunnally...]
no subject
Perhaps. Finding those answers are going to be a little more...trying, to say the least.
[It's better than being dead, right? But he's not going to relive that again; they had just gotten off that subject. He didn't want to upset Shirley again, after all.]
Curses aside, it's...peaceful.
[Definitely more peaceful than at home. Even though that's a good thing in some respects...for someone who's used to doing something all the time to land in a place such as this--
He's kind of bored.]
no subject
Not that she really had the power to, being as ordinary as she is. But just seeing her again elicited some reaction, so there's still hope...]
That's what I remember, too. [Saya had told her it was like a long vacation, right?] But--maybe we'll be able to find some answers together.
[Unlikely BUT...it's a nice thought nonetheless and Shirley hopes it counts for something.]
no subject
[The thought of staying answerless for much longer wasn't a very good thought.] ...Have you found anything that interests you yet?
no subject
[Oh--
That's right; they've been walking past a few stores now, which she'd neglected to look at until now. Seems she's been pretty distracted, but she smiles a bit, approaching one of the stores.]
Ah, yes. Sorry about that. [She glances at the window for a second, seeing the latest outfits on display. A nervous chuckle passes her lips, and then:] Here--we can look in this one.
[--and then she leads the way in.]
no subject
It was refreshing.
He nods, following after her to go into the store.]
It's alright; I'd just rather let you rest as soon as possible, anyway.
no subject
Right again, that is definitely a thing she should do. She isn't all that tired, but she feels like she needs it nonetheless. Like after a big session of swimming or something.
...As a result, she isn't too picky about her clothes. She doesn't want to bore him anyway, so she tries to be quick about it and picks a rather plain dress to go with her red hair. She's examining it and holds it to her body, wondering if it will fit.
The clerk, who is watching on with a polite smile, seems to take no notice of the blood on her; or if he has, he hasn't reacted. And for that she finds herself thankful.]
no subject
While he was here...
Ah, well. He'll figure something out.]
no subject
In fact, she's glad that he even agreed to come with her. This must be pretty boring for him, so she decides to try to pick up the pace a little.
After debating for a minute or so longer in front of the mirror, she finally decides to find a fitting room to try on the dress. It doesn't take more than a few minutes; Lelouch may not have even noticed she was gone, if he was distracted enough.
But either way, she walks up to him, new dress on with her old, bloodied outfit in a bag in her hands.]
Um, this is...better, right?
[She turns around once to show him, her cheeks reddening somewhat. She has always wanted his honest opinion on her appearance, though she knows there's always the chance she'll regret asking.]
no subject
So when she addresses him again he looks up, and looks a little relieved to not see that blood coated shirt on her anymore.]
Yes, that's much better.
[In the respect that it doesn't have a mess all over it.] Then are you ready?
no subject
Yes. We can go now.
[Hmm, although she's not sure where to. She doesn't remember what building she was living in before, and who knows if it was even still there anyway?
There've been a lot of changes in the city; she supposes she'll just have to explore all over again.]
no subject
Would you like to come to my apartment for a little bit? That is, until you know what you're going to do here.
no subject
She doesn't want to sound too eager about it of course, though her eyes already kind of light up at the prospect. What has his life been like here?]
Sure! I'd-- I'd really appreciate that...
Do you think Nunna will be home, too?
no subject
Who knows when that would be, but.]
Maybe. I guess we'll just have to see, won't we? I'm sure she'd be ecstatic to see you as well.
no subject
[In her final moments, she admittedly had been fixed on Lelouch, but-- Nunnally, and Suzaku, her family...these were all people she held near and dear to her. She was sure she'd never see them again, and she's sure no one else expected to either.
She hopes she won't react too strongly...]
Then, let's find out together.
