Who: Yoko and Kamina
Where: Somewhere on the beach up on the island
When: Late Evening
Status: Closed! It's a private reunion of a dead man and his girlfriend with a big booty.
[ Even the stars were different.
Yoko had spent enough long nights stargazing since she'd first gotten to the surface to know that much and the realization only managed to make her feel very alone. It could have been true, the story she'd been told about being a different world. But at least her investigations, asking questions and poking around, had led her up here instead of leaving her in that underwater dome.
She sits in the middle of a blanket she's laid out on the sand, leaning back as she still stares up at that strange skyscape despite its unfamiliarity. Her rifle lays next to her, always on hand even in a seemingly peaceful moment like this. It wasn't like she'd decided on where to stay yet anyway, no place to store it mostly for the fact that she didn't like going down into the bubble any more than she had to.
It was just all so frustrating. She didn't belong here, she should have been with everyone, finally building on the surface. She seizes a nearby rock, pitching it into the waves.
She wasn't going to go down without a fight, but right then it seemed like there wasn't anything she could target that would make a difference. ]

[Come on, the last thing he remembers them doing was sharing that totally awesome kiss. And now she is staring at him like that making such weird noises? He doesn't like it.]

If this was a dream, it was a cruel one. ]
Kamina...
[ It's not much of an answer, but maybe rushing suddenly to close the distance between them is a better one. ]
no subject
What the hell is up with you? You're acting weird.

[ She thumps her fist against his chest lightly before she hugs him, clinging tight. It doesn't matter if none of this makes sense. Since when had he ever made sense when he'd been alive? ]
You're here, Kamina, right? You're here.

[He leaves one arm slung around her, reaching up with his hand to scratch the back of his head.]
no subject
[ She says the words like they're somehow profound. But more important, she can hear the beat of his heart when she rests her head against his chest. ]
How can you act like this is nothing? [ She takes a shaky breath, and she still doesn't let go. ] After everything...
no subject
...Is this about the kiss?
no subject
[ It comes out muffled, tremulous and as if she's on the verge of a fresh wave of tears. ]
You don't remember, do you?

[He pauses.]
I can't remember it at all, though. I was getting into Gurren and then I was here.
no subject
[ She can't say why, not right then. Kamina was there and as dense and wonderful as she remembered, and she didn't know how to say much else. ]
You missed a lot, Simon showed everyone just what humans could do.
no subject
Of course, he's Simon, after all. His drill will pierce the heavens and break through to tomorrow.

[ She looks up at him, her expression vulnerable and soft. Those tears in her eyes are spilling over her cheeks, and she really doesn't have the complexion to be crying like this. ]
And we're here. Together.
no subject
What's with that look? And those tears? Of course, we're together. We'll always be together. I still gotta repay you, after all.
no subject
[ His hands are warm and comforting, and the trembling tenseness to her starts to slowly bleed out. ]
I really thought I'd lost you.
no subject
What are you talking about? I'm always there.
no subject
Don't you get it? We lost you. [ Her breath hitches. ] You never repaid me because--
no subject
[He's got a feeling, but no, it's gotta be her words. She's gotta say it.]
no subject
...you died, Kamina.
[ She brings a hand up to her chest, over her heart. It had been the one place he had still lived on, she had thought. Her fingers curl into a loose fist. ]
no subject
I-- You must've had a nightmare. I ain't dead. Look at me, Yoko. I ain't dead at all.
no subject
[ But she doesn't sound convinced. ]
Or... if this is a dream, I want to stay asleep a little longer. Don't wake me up, okay?
[ She raises up on her toes, moving to kiss him. ]
no subject
Stupid. It was definitely a nightmare. The great Kamina-sama wouldn't just die.
no subject
Yoko can't help herself, not even with him there and filled with that incredible bravado. Everything is just right, everything is him right down to her memory of the press of his lips against hers. If this had to end, she just didn't wnat it to be any time soon.]
no subject
And even if, theoretically, he did die. Then it would be fine. Cause his little bro was there to take care of the Dai-Gurren Brigade for him.]

no subject
See, I told you I was gonna pay you back ten times over. And I'm just gettin' started.
no subject
I'm holding you to that.
no subject
Now stop crying. It looks stupid on you.
no subject
You don't have to say it like that.
