Who: Yoko and Kamina
Where: Somewhere on the beach up on the island
When: Late Evening
Status: Closed! It's a private reunion of a dead man and his girlfriend with a big booty.

[ Even the stars were different.

Yoko had spent enough long nights stargazing since she'd first gotten to the surface to know that much and the realization only managed to make her feel very alone. It could have been true, the story she'd been told about being a different world. But at least her investigations, asking questions and poking around, had led her up here instead of leaving her in that underwater dome.

She sits in the middle of a blanket she's laid out on the sand, leaning back as she still stares up at that strange skyscape despite its unfamiliarity. Her rifle lays next to her, always on hand even in a seemingly peaceful moment like this. It wasn't like she'd decided on where to stay yet anyway, no place to store it mostly for the fact that she didn't like going down into the bubble any more than she had to.

It was just all so frustrating. She didn't belong here, she should have been with everyone, finally building on the surface. She seizes a nearby rock, pitching it into the waves.

She wasn't going to go down without a fight, but right then it seemed like there wasn't anything she could target that would make a difference. ]

[His frown deepens.]

What are you talking about? I'm always there.

[ She shakes her head faintly. ]

Don't you get it? We lost you. [ Her breath hitches. ] You never repaid me because--

Because what?

[He's got a feeling, but no, it's gotta be her words. She's gotta say it.]

In that battle... [ She had thought she'd almost come to peace with it in the past few months, but now it's like the wound was as fresh as that day. She could still vividly recall every detail. ]

...you died, Kamina.

[ She brings a hand up to her chest, over her heart. It had been the one place he had still lived on, she had thought. Her fingers curl into a loose fist. ]

[...he died. He died. He-- No, he didn't feel dead. How did you feel being dead? He wasn't sure of that, but he figured it was a hell of a lot more boring than this. Nope. He feels just fine. Just as alive as ever.]

I-- You must've had a nightmare. I ain't dead. Look at me, Yoko. I ain't dead at all.

Maybe...

[ But she doesn't sound convinced. ]

Or... if this is a dream, I want to stay asleep a little longer. Don't wake me up, okay?

[ She raises up on her toes, moving to kiss him. ]

[He cups her chin much like how he had the first time, leaning down to kiss her.]

Stupid. It was definitely a nightmare. The great Kamina-sama wouldn't just die.

[ Her eyes fall half-lidded as they kiss, almost as if she's afraid he'll just disappear if she closes her eyes. And maybe she is, but she can't help herself.

Yoko can't help herself, not even with him there and filled with that incredible bravado. Everything is just right, everything is him right down to her memory of the press of his lips against hers. If this had to end, she just didn't wnat it to be any time soon.]

[He kisses her slow, tender, inexperienced, one hand propping up her chin, the other wound around her back to keep her close to him. It was crazy to think he was going to die. It had to be a nightmare of Yoko's, had to be. Maybe she still wasn't as used to trusting into Simon's ability to pull through at the last minute like he was. But they'd see, they'd all see; Simon would do it.

And even if, theoretically, he did die. Then it would be fine. Cause his little bro was there to take care of the Dai-Gurren Brigade for him.]

[ For a moment, nothing else really had to matter. The one thing she'd wanted, locked away deep in her heart, was to be with him. Though she'd been able to keep going forward for the sake of the world that they were going to create, she could stop just for a little while and focus on the fact that Kamina was right there. ]

[Eventually he breaks the kiss, his hand still under her chin as he leans back a little.]

See, I told you I was gonna pay you back ten times over. And I'm just gettin' started.

[ She tucks her head down against his hand, a blush rising on her tear stained cheeks. ]

I'm holding you to that.

Good. What good is a man if you can't even keep him to his word.

Now stop crying. It looks stupid on you.

[ She turns without pulling away from him, scrubbing at her cheeks as the flush on them darkens. ]

You don't have to say it like that.

It's true. You ain't got the face for tears. Makes you look all freakin' splotchy.

Then... you shouldn't make me cry anymore. I've got more important things to focus on than tears.

Yeah, that's right. We gotta burst outta here. We can't stay in a dump like this.

[Even if the surface, at least, is far better than what is there below.]
