Fluttershy's teal eyes blinked in the morning light. White. All around her was the color white. She lifted a hoof to her delicate features and wiped away the water. Where... where am I? Upon closer inspection, the white appeared to be actually white sand. She carefully pulled herself into a sitting position and looked around at her surroundings.

A beach.

There isn't a beach anywhere near Ponyville, the cream colored mare though to herself, taking in her pristine surroundings and the gloomy dome above. Wait, dome? Fluttershy let out a gasp. While there were dark clouds above, there seemed to be a huge, bubble-like ceiling even farther above. A whimper escaped her lips. She wasn't in Ponyville anymore. She didn't even appear to be in Equestria! The pegasus flattened herself to the wet sand and covered her head, a quiver taking over her little body.

The footsteps came to a stop near her, but the visitor did not say anything. Fluttershy cracked her eyelids open and turned her head to gaze at-

Wait, what exactly was she gazing at? Demon? Troll? Cat?

"Uh, h-hello?" she mumbled nervously.

"You can talk!" Nepeta wasn't sure why she was surprised - she'd met lots of talking animals here in Vatheon so far. But never a talking hoofbeast! And she was such a pretty one too. "Hi! I'm Nepeta! Who are you? Are you okay?"

She reached out to pet her, wondering if perhaps she was hurt and that was why she was cowering this way.

"I'm..." Fluttershy cleared her throat and tried to speak louder. "My name is Fluttershy. I'm fine, I'm just... scared."

...Was that blue tail wiggling?

"Fluttershy! Hmmm, yup yup, it suits you, I like it! it's furry nice to meet you, Fluttershy!"

Sadly it wasn't, seeing as it was only a prop attached to her clothes, but Fluttershy could be forgiven for thinking so seeing as how Nepeta herself definitely was wiggling around in excitement. "It's okay, you don't have to be scared, you're safe here!" Will the hoofbeast allow her to pet her? Nepeta wasn't sure but she was definitely attempting to stroke that pretty pink mane now.

I don't know anything about Homestuck T_T

The girl's happiness was contagious and Fluttershy can't help but give her a soft smile in return. Noticing the hand, she lowered her head. "You can stroke my mane, if you want to. I don't mind..."

/pets It's okay! Nep likes to pretend she's a cat because her guardian was one |D

"Really?! Yay!" The soft smile was returned, except in Nepeta's case it was a gigantic grin as she carefully smoothed her hand down Fluttershy's mane, over and over. "You're really really pretty! The prettiest hoofbeast I've efur seen!"

It felt... kind of nice, actually, and Fluttershy didn't even mind when her fingers got caught in a tangle every so often. Hands felt better than hooves. "Um, thank you," she said, blushing in embarrassment.

Wait.

"So... you've seen other ponies here before?"

Nepeta had a lot of experience with petting, mostly with cats but sometimes with horses too from the times she visited the stable with Tavros. She was doing her very best to be comforting to the small pony, because arriving here all of a sudden was always a shock, and besides, she wanted to be friends!

"Uh huh! But none all colourful like you. And they couldn't talk..."
