Fluttershy's teal eyes blinked in the morning light. White. All around her was the color white. She lifted a hoof to her delicate features and wiped away the water. Where... where am I? Upon closer inspection, the white appeared to be actually white sand. She carefully pulled herself into a sitting position and looked around at her surroundings.

A beach.

There isn't a beach anywhere near Ponyville, the cream colored mare though to herself, taking in her pristine surroundings and the gloomy dome above. Wait, dome? Fluttershy let out a gasp. While there were dark clouds above, there seemed to be a huge, bubble-like ceiling even farther above. A whimper escaped her lips. She wasn't in Ponyville anymore. She didn't even appear to be in Equestria! The pegasus flattened herself to the wet sand and covered her head, a quiver taking over her little body.

He almost didn't hear her reply, but he just managed to catch it. "I've never seen a demon like you before. I'm Cielo." She seems harmless enough, but he doesn't move any closer. She looks scared and he doesn't blame her!

Her teal eyes open wide in surprise. "D-demon? But I'm not a demon! I'm a pegasus!" she said in a louder tone, looking quite horrified. Demons were bad, bad things. She would never do anything bad.

Pegasus. Pegasus? That's a word unfamiliar to him.

It sounds like the name of a demon species to him, if he were to be honest. But she says she's not a demon, and Cielo has learned that something he doesn't recognize as a regular animal doesn't always equal demon.

"Oh. So what's your name?"

"I'm, um, Fluttershy," the small mare responded nervously as she pulled herself out of the hole she had managed to dig into the wet sand. She gave her wings a gentle flap to rid them of some of the granules, but she was in for a long grooming session. Sigh.

This person... looked human. Kind of. That hair style reminded her of the flashier ponies of Canterlot.

Fluttershy was an odd name, but it definitely seemed fitting given what he's seen of her personality. Cielo however, gave no more thoughts to pony names because he saw that she has wings.

"Ah! You have wings!" He was absolutely thrilled to see them. "Then you can fly, ja? I can too."

Her ears perked up and she gazed up at the person curiously. "You can fly?" she asked. But he did not seem to have any wings. Maybe he could use magic like Twilight or Rarity? He had no horn, but...

"W-well, I haven't really tried to fly since I got here. I can't use my wings when I'm, um, distressed..." she muttered, said appendages tightly clenched against her sides.

"Sure can, I love it. Especially this place. When it's not raining, the sky is a beautiful color," he answered. A shame it was raining right now, otherwise, Fluttershy would see that lovely shade of blue. Flying is the best thing ever! To him, anyway. He wasn't going to give a demonstration unless she asked for it. On the other subject, he put a hand under one chin. "Distressed...you mean like scared?"

He understood that. He's never locked up, but flying isn't easy if you're panicking.

Looking up at the sky, it appeared that weather controlled itself. It was... unnatural. She resisted the urge to cower back into the sand. Pegasi were supposed to keep track of the skies and the Royal Sisters were supposed to control the sun and the moon.

Fluttershy glanced down at the wings glued to her sides and attempted to stretch then, but all she managed to do was make them twitch erratically. "Y-yes. But it's alright. I'm not a very good flier, anyway..." she sighed.

Oh. She sounded so sad and Cielo was overcome with an urge to cheer her up.

"Then let's get you somewhere dry then, ja?" Cielo personally didn't mind the rain, but he knew that most people don't come from lands of eternal downpour like he did. "This is only the island. There's a city underwater."

"There's a whole city here, too?" Fluttershy said in amazement, both a little happy and terrified at the thought. Well, at least it wasn't just a world consisting entirely of gloomy weather and empty beaches. But that also meant a place filled with strangers and possibly danger...

"Ja, completely underwater. There's an elevator that takes people from here to there and back." Cielo explained. "There's lots of things to see and do there. This island is nice, but it's also kind of lonely."

"Is the, um, place safe? It's not going to fall or collapse, is it?" she asked with a worried tone, thinking of all sorts of horrible scenarios.

"I've been here two months and it's been fine," he said, trying to convince her. Nobody lives on the island as far as he knows and she'd be really lonely if she stayed here by herself. He and Serph even caused all those little earthquakes while gardening and the worst thing that happened was someone's coffee fell off the table. "But if something does happen, I'll make sure you're okay."

Because as far as Cielo is concerned, he and Fluttershy are friends now and he protects his friends.
