[ The routine of a Helmsman usually involves more powering interstellar space travel and unspeakable agony. In the bubble-city of Vatheon, however, it is a slow and surprisingly calm routine for the most part.

The Helmsman makes breakfast for three or maybe even four, just in case. He takes a cup of tea up with him as he checks on his bees, assures their health, and spends an hour or two up on the rooftop. Back down to the hive to watch television of dubious quality, then make lunch, and back to those shows that really don't make much sense at all. It's serious business, the study of human culture via television programs.

It's odd how often Vatheon Shore seems to come on, too.

A few hours like that, back to the bees, and back down again. Run the occassional errand, never going terribly far from the hive, and then it's dinner. All the while, his thought bubble is just a stream of incomprehensible code.

At some point, he might even talk to people. ]

It's surprising, isn't it? The things their culture allows for.

[Although the free-wheeling pail romps they get up to in Vatheon Shore have their appeal. Signless misses that, and for just a moment, his bubble flashes with a memory of a tangle of sweat-soaked, gold and red tinted limbs.]

They are a thtrange, innothent rathe. I enjoy learning of their wayth.

Have you talked to many of them? If you like learning about their culture, maybe you should try to make some friends and ask them directly.

[ He actually flushes a little at that, shrugging up one shoulder. ]

It doeth... not theem my plathe to.

[ In short, terminally shy. Whoops. ]

[Signless knows him well enough to read between the lines of that statement, and smiles into Psii's hair.]

Maybe next time I go to see Dave and John, you could come with me.

I do not want to cauthe children dithcomfort. My prethenthe would likely do tho.

[ He knows that others find him disconcerting to be around. Humans in particular, but the sentiment exists generally as well. ]

[Psii, baby... Signless can't really argue the sentiment, as he knows it's true. Even back on Alternia, Psii tended to make those who didn't know him uncomfortable.]

They'll be fine. Once they get talking about something they really like, they'll hardly even notice we're there.

[Very gently, Signless rubs the side of his face against one of Psii's horns. The gesture is purely affectionate, not proprietory.]

[ The difference was that he could act as if it did not bother him, and sometimes it really didn't. Even though he was reclusive by nature, he still craved the company of others from time to time. But he allows the Signless to reassure him, comforted by the fact that little attention would be on him. ]

Perhapth I would enjoy that. [ He sighs, careful to keep his head still as Signless nuzzles him. ] Thank you.

[Signless would say more, but that's when the commercials end and Vatheon Shore starts up, so he gives Psii another quick squeeze, then turns his attention to the set.]
