[Shizuo isn't as bothered by this curse as some of the people he's come across thus far. He tends not to be a pretty deep-thinker, and since he's a pretty honest individual, there isn't much for him to hide - with a little exception, but Shizuo has enough of a command on himself to avoid thinking about certain things in public. When he decides to go to the island, it's not with the intent to avoid people - at least, not more than usual - but because spending time here a week prior had shown Shizuo that the beach is nice and calm at night. The stars are especially peaceful.

His thought bubble calmly cycles through words like Izaya, stargazing, telescope, calm as he finishes a cigarette, walking along the water. He pauses and looks up at the night sky, and his bubble seems to pause with him - clearing itself of all text for a brief moment.]

[Shizuo doesn't flinch as the water gets on him. In fact, it feels a little refreshing. He does smile a little though.]

Guess we had the same idea.

[Or similar ideas, at least. Shizuo might not have decided to swim, but a walk on the beach was nice after spending time training and working out his excess energy. His own thought bubble begins to cycle through a recap of his sparring sessions with Serph, reflecting on how he feels like they are making a difference already.]

[...Ah. He hadn't seen you there, Shizuo. Serph's hands go to his hair to fix it and get it out of his eyes. It doesn't take him long and one he's done, he gives Shizuo a nod in greeting.]

It's good to relax when there's the opportunity to do so.

[Other people might be worried about getting cold, especially when they're dripping wet in the night air, but not Serph; he's spent years being soaked in the constant rain at night and never felt the chill.

Even though they often spar, Serph keeps those sessions focused on their purpose: helping Shizuo. There's plenty of opportunities for more casual talk, like now. Serph tilts his head.]

Were you about to go for a swim?

[Because most people totally go for swims in their clothing like he does. Serph's bubble gently ripples to show the night sky, a representation of how he thinks it's late for starting a swim.]

[Shizuo nods in agreement. Lately he's found the island to be a good place to do just that - relax.]

I like it up here. It's quiet.

[His bubble surfaces a few words about the calm night sky.]

Nah, I wasn't going to swim. I mostly came up here to look at the stars.

[...Stars? Serph's bubble ripples to show a ? before he looks up at the sky. He has... a vague recollection of stars. Something about looking up at the sky while on the deck of a ship at night... His bubble's images are blurry, indistinct and confused, like his memory.]

Stars... are those the lights in the sky?

[This is probably the most garbled his bubble has looked all week.]

[Shizuo takes Serph's confusion in stride, and doesn't bother trying to make sense of Serph's bubble. That isn't his place. Instead, he points upward.]

Yeah. Look up.

[He does so himself.]

I come from a city that's always bright and moving, and where it's hard to really see stars. Here, though, you can see a lot.

[Serph prefers the blue sky of day, but the night sky with all the stars isn't bad, either. He's glad Shizuo has the opportunity to see the stars clearly in Vatheon, when he isn't able to do so in his home world.

Speaking of Shizuo's home world...]

Did you find the shop from your world?

[Serph's bubble shows a replay of the time they'd met in the Nostalgia Nook.]

[Shizuo nods, putting a hand in his pocket.]

I did. I found the magazine I wanted too.

[His bubble surfaces the name Kasuka, which belongs to his brother.]

[Serph's glad Shizuo found what he wanted. Still, he tilts his head.]

Does the magazine hold special importance to you?

My brother is pretty popular back where I'm from. He acts in movies and stuff, so sometimes he's in magazines. I thought I'd try and find one that he's in so I can make sure he's doing okay.

[And, his bubble explains, he had found one with his brother it in, and everything indicated that he - and his career - was doing just fine.]

[Movies... movies... right, the thing Cielo told him about. It's good to hear Shizuo's brother is doing well, so Serph nods.]

Are you close to anyone else from your world?

Mostly him.

[But his bubble flashes Izaya's name. It's still strange to talk about that relationship with other people - and back home things had been much different between them - so he hesitates a little before continuing.]

And there's someone here who I'm pretty close to. So I guess I'm lucky. What about you?

[Serph notes the hesitation, but doesn't think much on it. He thinks over his reply, bubble going though the faces of hundreds of people, all with brightly coloured hair, before it lingers on five others.]

I have many comrades.

[Had, his bubble ripples, before going to stillness.]

Cielo is the only one here. [A pause.] Those I've met here are all friends.

[That includes you, buddy.]

[More people seem to be using the word friend around Shizuo. He's getting used to it, though it still catches him off guard a little. He considers both Cielo and Serph friends too, though, and his bubble communicates this.]

I've made friends here too.

[That's a big deal to Shizuo. He's grateful for it, his bubble explains.]

[Serph nods, understanding that good feeling, having more friends. He takes a long breath, breathing in the cool night air and the scent of the sea. He'll never get tired of just how organic, how different, everything here is, and a warm light trickles across his bubble to represent his contentment.]

Would you like company for a while?

[...Despite Serph being dripping wet still.]

Sure.

[A small smile.]

I'd like that.

[Serph doesn't really have any burning questions for Shizuo, so he'll be quite content to stand with Shizuo in quiet company until he's ready to leave the island, his bubble a content vision of waters.]
