[It had been quite some time since Sola had been outside.

He'd spent the past week puttering around Signless and Psiioniic's place, first refusing to come out of the room they'd let him use, then slowly working up to joining them on the couch for tv or at the table for meals when he was feeling a little more able to be social. He hadn't said much, merely grew more bold as far as seeking out contact went, content to ensconce himself between the two trolls and ask the occasional question concerning whatever was being watched, staying away from any mention of anything uncomfortable.

So it's far from the norm when Sola comes up to Signless out of the blue one morning and asked this:]

Is... it alright if I stay here for good?

[Signless has been waiting for this question, honestly, and when Sola asks it, he puts aside everything he was doing and opens his arms to the young man, offering a hug.]

Of course you can. This can be your home, if you want it to be.

[Sola accepts the hug readily. At this point, he'd be happy to subsist completely on hugs, but there's something else bothering him.]

Um.. I left a lot of my things at the apartment, including my sylladex, but... I don't really want to go back there.

[He pulls back a bit to look Signless in the face.]

Do you think, um.. maybe... you or Psii could go get my stuff?

Absolutely.

[Signless gently brushes some of Sola's hair back from his face.]

Why don't you stay here with Psii, and I'll go get your things for you?

Okay. Thank you, Signless. I'm sorry I can't do it myself.

[Sola rubs his arm and lets out a quiet breath, feeling better that he won't have to face Ion just yet.]

It's okay, Sola. No one is asking or expecting you to do it yourself.

[Signless gives him another squeeze, then lets go.]

I'll head over here right now, okay? Be back before you know it.

[Sola smiles, just for Signless.]

Alright. I'll make some tea or something, okay? We can have some when you get home.

[Of course by make tea Sola means whine at Psii that he wants some. Or at least that's what it usually means.]

[It's been awhile since Signless has seen Sola smile, and he touches the corner of his mouth with his thumb.]

That sounds like a great idea.

[And everyone knows that make tea is synonomous with whine to Psii about wanting tea and then having stuff float around the hive with psionics.]

[Signless leaves Sola and Psii to their tea-making and heads to Sola's old apartment. Once there, he knocks briskly on the door.]

[Ion has grown pouty over the past couple days, knowing that Sola is back but hearing nothing from him. He answers the door and looks up at Signless, frowning slightly.]

Hello, Signless.

Hello, Ion.

[Signless recognizes a grumpy face when he sees one, but he keeps his own smile in place.]

May I come in, please?

[Ion stands his ground. You're not getting him to move that easily, mister!]

...how is Sola?

[That deflates Signless somewhat.]

Better. Still sad, though. I think he misses you.

[Signless admitted that he has Sola, so Ion lets him pass. He steps to the side so the troll can enter. He lets his shoulders sag.]

I miss him, too. I still don't know why he did that...

I think he's trying to figure it out too.

[Signless looks doubtfully at Ion.]

He sent me here to get his things. Will you show me where they are?

To get his things?! He's leaving? Why? I thought we were family!

[The little Fon Master seems genuinely distressed about this. If Sola's hurting, he can't just leave!]

[Okay, now Signless is getting confused. He thought Sola had talked to Ion since he came back!]

Sola... said he wants to stay with Psii and I now. I'm sorry, Ion, I thought you knew about all this!

What?! He hasn't spoken to me since he returned! I thought he was dead until Shizuo told me!

[Ion actually looks... annoyed. Yes, he is capable of making that expression. Sola, you don't get to just push him out of your life, friends are FOREVER mister!]

I'll get his things, you take me to him.

[The Fon Master goes to their shared room briskly, gathering Sola's few possessions. He's right back next to Signless in a flash, looking determined.]

[Signless waits while Ion gathers up Sola's things, thinking over what's going on.]

Does anyone else live here, Ion?

Yes. We stay here with Izaya and Laharl.

[He looks up at Signless.]

I'm not going to abandon either of them, but I need to see Sola.

[Izaya.]

[Signless recognizes the name, and his face tightens for a moment, then smoothes out again. He reaches out and tries to catch one of Ion's hands in both of his.]

I don't know how much you know, my friend, but I can't let Sola move back in with you if Izaya still lives here.

Izaya is hurt from all this, too. He might be older and it's true that he knows better, but what good is it going to do if we abandon him after something like this?

[Ion shakes his head.]

Maybe not right away, but if Sola wants to come back, I think you should let him.

That will be Sola's choice, when he comes to it. I promise to not try and persuade him either way.

[Signless squeezes Ion's hand.]

Come along, then. Let's go see Sola.

[He nods, following Signless without a second thought (Ion, that's bad, you shouldn't follow strangers - especially not ones with pointy teeth! you're lucky it's Signless).]

[Come on, now, Signless might have pointy teeth, but he's about the least intimidating person in the bubble!]

[He's quiet, though, on the walk back to the hive, lost in thought. Once there, though, he guides Ion in, calling from the door.]

Sola? You have a visitor!

[Sola hears Signless come in from across the apartment; Hylian hearing is nifty like that.]

Did you find my bottle? I forgot to tell you it was on the nig-

[As the replica rounds the corner into the front room, he freezes as he sees Ion. That wasn't what he expected.]

[Ion marches right up to Sola with his jaw set and...]
