It's all just a game to him [OPEN]

Who: A seemingly innocent Fennec fox and YOU

[Throughout the week, while the city has turned dark and gritty, and heroes and villains run rampant, one might have the ~~unfortunate~~ luck of happening upon a small furred creature. And not just any small furred creature. A fox, with large ears, blonde fur, a tail tipped with pale tea green, and... strangely blank, unreflected blue gray eyes.

He may seem cute and innocent, but those who encounter him might be in for more than they want to deal with.]

(ooc: slightly in tandem with this Hilda post. If anyone wants to play out N being a jerky jerk face here would be the place to do it!)

[ Meanwhile, the girl was freaking out. She had understood that the curse was doing something strange with N, not just physically, but mentally as well. She had found out earlier in the week ... and she was happy to see that he recognized her, but even then, there was a difference.

Enough of a difference that if she were to call out to him, there was a chance he might not answer, just to keep his ability to stay out. She had to move as quietly as she could, and be as stealthy as he could be in order to find him ...

... but that was much easier thought than done. Especially in her current mindset. ]

[Luckily noise would be what would give Hilda the advantage over finding him.

Suddenly a shop keep cried out, barking out 'GET BACK HERE!' demands to... not a person, but a little animal that was running off with a sausage in his maw. N usually didn't like meat, and that had remained consistent, but he had also gone without much food for most of the week and was getting desperate.]

[ That was her cue. She ran toward the sound, trying to keep a look out for him. She spotted him quickly, seeing him running from whoever was angry ... with a sausage.

That was. Unlike him.

Hilda rushed toward him, and as soon as she was within enough of a distance to grab him, she dove toward the fleeing fox. Her arms were out, ready to snatch him up ... or break some bones, depending on how this played out. ]

[Luckily, as fast as he was, he was still small in that form and it was much easier for her to catch up to him than it was for him to round the corner skillfully enough to get out of her reach.

With a yelp he was snatched, sausage falling out his mouth as he flailed and squirmed, letting out little yips and even a sharp howl.]

N!

[ She winced as she hit the ground, trying to make her hold on him stable. ]

N, it's just me! It's Hilda!

[ Before she could calm herself down, she had to calm him down. ]

[N continued to squirm and attempt to wiggle out of her grasp, but the frantic noises stopped at least.]

Let go of me, Hilda!

[ She tries to hold onto him a little tighter. ]

No! You're coming home with me!

[That seems to stop him from getting free, but he lets out a pained whine in the process]

Why?!

[ She holds him close, trembling as she does so. ]

I don't want you to leave again!

[ Something within her knew that this would probably mean nothing to him right now. She wasn't sure what had made her say it. It had just ... come out that way, and she knew that it was the truth. ~~Giving her abandonment issues, boy.~~ ]

... why do you want me here at all? Why have you stuck by me when everyone else has abandoned me... ?

[his voice goes quiet, head hanging down as those large ears go back. He can't even find it him to be angry at being caught anymore after that.]

[ She absentmindedly starts petting him, trying to calm herself down now that he's no longer struggling. ]

Because we're friends. I don't know what you think of me, and I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't think the same way. I see you as my friend, though, and I care about you.

[ And you told her you wouldn't disappear on her like that again, boy. :| Not that you remember it. ]

Your... friend... ?

[N went from quiet to silent after that, head hung and tail drooping low. He didn't know what to say to that. How could he? In his mind he didn't have friends.

People were the enemy, after all.]

That's right. You're my friend ...

[ She speaks quietly, continuing to pet him gently. ]

Please, come back home with me?

... okay. I'll come home.

[his voice comes out tiny and uncertain. He still doesn't understand why she'd want him there, but he'll do it. For her.]

Thank you, N ...

[ She moves to stand, gently holding him with one arm while she does that and moving her other arm back to make him more comfortable after she's standing and steady. She continues to pet him gently as she walks home with him. ]

I got really scared when I couldn't find you ...

I wasn't thinking... I just kept going.

[He doesn't apologize verbally, but there's something in his voice that indicates some level of remorse.]

[ She can hear that. Hilda smiles a little, hugging him gently. ]

I know. You do that a lot.

I don't see a point in staying in one place...

[Though if she missed him that much...]

Usually I'd agree with you. I just ...

[ her voice becomes a little quieter. ]

I spent so much time looking for you ... and now that we're together again, I was hoping we could stay together.

... stay... together... ?

[what an awkward sounding echo]

Yeah. Stay together ...

[ Hilda's mind is in such a state of frenzy at the moment that the fact that N isn't himself isn't even registering. ]

[N lets out a noise like a sigh, and his tiny furry head rests against her chest.]

[ D'aw ... she continues to pet his fur gently. It's calming, knowing he's here again. She's not sure why it's so calming ... ]

[He's silent for a long time after that, tiredly so, but eventually he speaks up again.]
