He writes in his daily journal

Who: N, his Pokemon and YOU

[Another week, another curse, another-- ... castle?!

Yup. There's a castle, or at least part of a castle up on the island. How did it get there? Where did it come from? Do you have the guts to attempt to explore it? Maybe there's riches inside, or a damsel in distress?

Either way, it's just sitting there, begging to be explored. Just be prepared for what you might run in to.]

(ooc: So the castle isn't completely there, it's just the center tower. Inside are a collection of rooms that all look more or less like small banquet rooms, except for one that looks more like a child's play room. N and Zoroark are wandering around, but the castle is more or less deserted aside from them. A rough map of the tower can be found here.)

[If N is ever willing to talk about all of that, Fai will be there to listen and share some of his own life with the other. His impression of the teen is that he needs someone like that in his life. It's done a lot to help Fai open up in Vatheon, after all. He stays where he is, smiling softly and showing N that he's got plenty of patience.]

We'll go when you're ready to.

[Maybe some day he'll be more comfortable with the idea of sharing more about himself, but today doesn't seem to be that day.

There's a quiet nod from him, and he carefully gets up from the corner he had hidden himself in.]

[He doesn't rise until after N does, at which point he stands by the teen's side and waits for him to lead the way. Best to let N stay in control of the situation. And frankly, he doesn't mind. He'd probably just get himself lost.]

[N knows where he's going, of course, but he's quiet the entire way, expecting Fai to follow without the need for instruction. He has a terribly low level of pain tolerance and even that cut is making him slightly dizzy, but he's able to put one foot in front of the other to get to the washroom down the hall.

It's almost the same size as the other rooms, grandiose and over-decorated just like the rest of the castle. But it's functional at least, even if the tower isn't actually connected to the rest of the castle right now.]

[Something tells Fai that his friend isn't feeling too well. He sticks close enough to N so that if he needed help it would be easy enough to offer it, although he doubted he'd be able to support the other for long. He's a little surprised Zoroark doesn't show up. Still, he trusts the Pokemon will show up eventually and he'll stay with N until then.

He takes a loose hold of the teen's shirt, pulling him to the sink. The water is turned on and he keeps his hand under it, waiting for it to get warm. Maybe it'll help N to keep talking?]

Did you grow up here?

Here?

[There's a slight pause before he answers that question with a half-truth, dull gray gaze on the running water.]

Yes. With my father and my sisters.

My brother, Yuui, and I grew up in a big castle too. A lot of other people lived there but most of the time it felt like we were the only ones there... This is probably going to sting, so um, sorry.

[With the water finally warm Fai washes his hands first before he carefully takes the one of N's that's injured and begins to gently wash away the blood.]

[It was probably good that a distraction was brought on by the water on his wound. He really didn't want to talk about his time in the castle, now that he knew the truth about Ghetsis' plan. It hurt him too much to think that they were family when all the man had ever done was manipulate his son to his own means.

N hissed between clenched teeth, looking away from the injury.]

[Although he knows this is necessary Fai still tenses when N hisses.]

I'm almost done, promise.

[And true to that, after a few more seconds he turns the water off. He grabs the nearest clean towel and starts patting everything dry.]

You should go down to the clinic in the bubble and get them to look at it. Someone there should be able to do a lot more for you than me.

I don't want to go back down there, but...

[He didn't want to leave, only to return and find his castle gone. Or to have more people enter and roam about.

Though he knew Fai was right, and even if the cut wasn't that deep, his fingers were tingling and it was difficult to close his hand in to a proper fist.]

... I should find Zoroark first.

[He nods, offering the towel he was just using if N wants to keep it pressed against his injury.]

Let's go find him.

[As is his way, N doesn't thank Fai, but there's at least some gratitude shown in his eyes. He presses the towel down as hard as he can tolerate it.]

He might be near the roof.

Okay. Which way to the roof?

[Fai has a lot of patience and doesn't expect a thank you- he's nice to be nice and because he thinks N needs other people. He trusts that once they find Zoroark, the pokemon will make sure that the teen gets taken care of.]

[He does need other people, but it will be a while yet before he fully realizes that.]

... that way.

[There's a hesitant point in a certain direction, only because it takes him a second to get his bearings after exiting the room. He starts off, leading the way and actually striking up something a conversation as they walk.]

Why did you come in here... ?

[And Fai will persist until then, just like others did for him. He follows alongside once again, glancing around when it can be spared.]

I'm... not really sure. It was different, and I wanted to know why it was here.

[His curiosity has been cultivated too much in Vatheon by people like Darkleer for his own good. In this case he doesn't see it as a bad thing (since he was able to help N) which is why he is slightly grinning up at the other.]

... I guess it would be something to be curious about.

[N doesn't return the smile, but there is something calmer about the look he gives Fai. He doesn't see any problem with being naturally curious.]

[Feeling satisfied that N has accepted his answer and is really calming down, he asks something else he's been wondering.]

How did you and Zoroark meet?

I was abandoned as a child, and found by a Darmanitan that was also raising an abandoned Zorua. That Zorua later became Zoroark. We've been together for as long as I can remember.

So you two really are family.

[It's reassuring that N has at least one person in his life like that- even if that person is a pokemon.]

I wish there were more pokemon here in Vatheon so I could meet them.

... yes. I guess we are.

[Odd how he never thought of it like that, though Ghetsis kind of insured that N really never understood the proper concept of family.]

After we find Zoroark, I have another I can show you, outside the castle.

[Fai's wasn't the best before he came to Vatheon either. But now that he understands what it really should be he's happy to share that knowledge with others. He glances up at N again, this time more excited than before.]

Really? That's another reason to find the roof then.

[Fai's excitement is almost catching. N doesn't quite smile, but there's a fondness in his eyes. Any interest in Pokemon is something to be excited about, in his book.]

We're almost there.

[There's certainly a spring in his step, and if he actually knew the way he might have rushed there to hurry things along. He likes pokemon- the ones he's seen have been so diverse but always close to those whom they chose as their partners. What's there to not be interested in?]

[Like he said, they're not that far away from the roof, and once they reach it Zoroark is standing near the ledge just as N predicted, looking out over the island that stretches beyond the tower. His ears twitch and he looks over when the two reach the top, rushing over as soon as he sees the wound on N's arm covered by the towel still.

Even though N can't hear him, it's obvious that he's fussing when he runs over, looking at the injury and whining quietly.]

I'm fine, it's just a cut. I'm sorry if I chased you off.

[Fai hangs back a step, letting them have a moment together. He's pretty sure N will be just fine this week even if he can't understand his pokemon. A lot can be said without a single word, after all. When he does speak up it's addressed to Zoroark.]

Hello again. You should take him down to the bubble and make sure he goes to the clinic. Somebody there should be able to heal him.
