Boss Fight: Big Slime

Who: Demyx, Fai, Faris, Feferi, Ioder, and Laharl
When: Today
Where: Main Lab
Style: Action
Status: Closed

Enjoy fighting your giant slime! While it's not as tough as the werewolf, it's got some tricks up its sleeve. Melee attacks will not be particularly effective against the slime, though they will serve to keep it off the mages. Anyone that gets close runs the risk of being poisoned, so watch out! Water spells will work, but they have a pretty high chance of making the slime reproduce and spawn a bunch of little slimes. Once it's halfway down, it will do this anyway. For the final phase, it will condense into something that can be attacked properly by melee characters but its poison will be that much more intense. Hope you brought a lot of potions.

[ This was taking way too long to get interesting in Feferi's mind, but playing healer never meant jumping to the forefront and doing all the cool stuff. Instead, she's tucked safely behind everyone else primarily because she doesn't want to die. Even so, she rocks on the balls of her feet, staff held in front of her horizontally.

For now, she's just glubbing anxiously to herself. She'd definitely not going to start doing anything until the giant monster slime had its attention firmly fixed on other people.

[Fai wrinkled his nose as he saw the slime. How many times does he have to deal with the green yucky stuff?]

Waaah~ What a mess. I wonder what the best way to do this is.

[Fai had two elements at his disposal. Fire and water. He didn't figure it would be particularly wise to start a wire, but he already knew that water and slime was not a good idea right off the bat. He does have that fancy tornado skill he hasn't gotten to play with much. Maybe he could blow all the slime away..]

I'd hate to burn the place down before we finish our quest.

Why not burn the place down? It's what I'd do.

[Unfortunately as a cleric he's stuck hanging back behind the meat shields others, though the way he's gripping his staff certainly looks like he'd rather be charging forward to attack with it.

But, his first order of business turns out to be casting a barrier spell on.. himself. What, did anyone think making him a support character meant he'd think of others first?]

[At least you're not alone back there, Laharl. Ioder is even more squishy than the clerics, being a bard and all, so he's forced to huddle back behind the others as well. And he looks terribly nervous, since what is a bard even doing here?]

I'm fairly certain that would completely ruin our chances of getting any sort of prize for this nonsense...

[Though there's a tiny part of Ioder that almost wants to agree with Laharl.

And did he just cast a barrier spell on himself and no one else?! No love for the bard, man.]

Yeah, and if we did burn the place down we'd probably end up going up with it. I don't have my original powers so I'm not sure if there's a way we'd be able to put it out.

[At least Demyx knows the feeling of being a squishy bard! ...Sort of. Either way, he's hanging back with Ioder to reluctantly cover the back. Honestly, how he ended up getting dragged along on missions focused on combat was completely beyond him. Why couldn't he find one that was something harmless? Like collecting butterflies!]

Does anyone have any freezing spells? I mean, ice is usually a little less... Y'know, life-threatening than fire in a small space.

I'll cull you myself if I don't get my points, silly motherglubbers. We're doing this the hard way.

[ She laughs. ]

Anyway, if you all die, I'll fix you right back up, or I'll Holy it into the grasp of whatever slimy gods it might have. Either way!

[ Thankfully, Feferi picks out a less alarming skill than Holy since she does have a mass barrier spell handy. She taps her staff on the ground for dramatic effect when she casts it-- physical protection for all! ]

Well then, at least we are in agreement about the fire~ At least for the most part. Maybe I could use that windy spell I just got. Do you think slime can fly?

[Because obviously he's going to have to move ahead if everyone else is stuck sticking back. He's not usually the charge ahead type but he does have a job to do and so he will move forward in some way.]

No, but it can splatter.

Are the rest of you going to attack already or do I have to knock you into it?

[Not that he probably could right now since for once he's about as strong as he looks, but this is absurd. Where's the bloodlust?

Since Faris seems to be the only useful member of the party, have a Regen spell.]

Attacking would be good, yes. Unfortunately nothing I have is an attack.

[But at least he's not alone in that. Looking to his fellow bard in this whole mess, he asks Demyx:]

Everything I have is either support or potentially disabling an opponent, but I'm not sure if any of it will work on these creatures. So you have any ideas?
