End Trial
Who: Jade Curtiss and those involved in the recent glasses plot
When: Today, February 1st
Where: Medical Clinic
Status: Semi-open
[It's been a good three weeks since Jade's little episode on the Island. Since then, he's neither moved nor made a sound in his sleep. Occasionally, the glyphs on his eyes would glow and shift, then they would dissipate again. The glasses Guy had made were doing more than their fair share of work in keeping Jade's glyphs in check.
When consciousness interrupted an odd dream, Jade was aware he was laying down on a bed and he was stiff as a board. First came a few small noises, and then little movements that were comfortable. His fingers twitched to life, toes wriggling somewhat, and his head tilting from side to side. After a few moments, Jade was feeling like he was coming back to life, pops and cracks coming with the movements. When he felt comfortable enough, he finally opened his eyes just a bit, looking at the burred image of the ceiling and then wincing. He moved some more and made another few noises as he tried to get his body to wake up further.
When he finally opened his eyes, he was greeted by blurred shapes and lights that were far brighter than he was currently used to. As his vision slowly began to adjust, he lifted his head to try to get his neck to move, pops loudly announcing his shifts. A tired hand moved to touch his face, feeling the new glasses. Guy, his eyes...
He could only remember snippets. Some fighting, a feeling of being vaguely terrified and running; pain, cold, some faces... Peony and Guy, Orphaner and someone else he didn't know. Ky was there at some point, right? And Dist? No, that lout wasn't in the Bubble or so help him he'd finish himself.
Other than that... Where his glasses were, what had happened to him, details like that were either fuzzy or nonexistant. He'd have to do a full check-up on himself sometime. When he felt more in control. He frowned at that, trying not to think so much on that complete lack he'd had when the arte had gone out of control. Emotions, impulses, things he normally kept in check. Attacking people out of the blue was the most worrisome... How had he let it get that bad..?
He'd have to focus on being able to get up, first..]

Do you feel better, I hope?
You seem better.

[Aside from feeling trapped in his body..]
Physically, I've had better days.

[If it were Ky, he'd want some paperwork to do...]

[There's some of the snark. It's mixed in with a lot of the fatigue Jade is still fighting through, but it's there.]
no subject
I see you are feeling a little better, then.
If you need to rest, I should let you.
no subject
I've slept for three weeks, I think I've had my fill.

I should have contained myself and dealt with the situation in a more timely manner.

He sighed, looking at a window instead of Ky for a moment as he slumped a little. Suddenly he did feel tired, and his voice reflected it.]
Yes, of course..
no subject
I'll keep praying for you.

Can I get you anything else?
no subject
He looked to Ky.]
I can't... think of anything.
[Part of him wanted to ask Ky to stay. But... It would be selfish, that was sure. And he felt childish thinking of it.]
no subject
I don't suppose that you'd want to join me in praying?
[He had an idea of what Jade would think of that, but faith was a comfort in hard times. If he could share that...]
no subject
It'd been a long time since he'd ever prayed, and even so, he was rather sarcastic or noncommittal when he had. When he used to, it was to appease the Curtiss' on the pilgrimages. When he'd eventually been sent on one after his coming-of-age ceremony, he'd just gone from relic to relic, sitting and resting before he'd leave again.
No, any god had turned their back on Jade just as Jade had turned his back on them. respectful silence was Jade's usual response, since he never figured they would listen to him anyways.]
I'll listen.

He spoke the words clearly, without any sense of self-consciousness. He believed in the power of them, that just saying them would in fact be able to help.]
no subject
Ky... Well, Jade wasn't convinced or particularly moved past respect for a man who believed in something so earnestly.
Jade had figured he'd stopped believing in any benevolent figures long ago.]
no subject
For now he'll focus most of his hope on simply praying for Jade, rather than allowing Jade to pray for himself.]
no subject
He supposed it felt good that Ky cared so much for him...]
no subject
If there's anything else I can do, let me know.
[He hopes he's said that before, hopes Jade already knows it, but it's worth repeating.]
no subject
I appreciate it.
