26 - Sand Thief

[ After that pair of moderately awkward voice-mails, Duke has packed a few things up - mostly clothing for the next day, a notebook or two, and almost hesitatingly a book on magic he recently received. That last probably wasn't smart of him, but... It was interesting, even if mildly painful. If he couldn't sleep...

If anyone was anticipating him arriving by searching with magic, he isn't giving his location away that way. He is trying to hide, after all, and if that means he has to be more careful while walking... well, its not going to be a speed reduction or anything.

But he'll be there before it gets too dark, looking a little worn, but not nearly as worn out as he'd been after the fear-curse. ]

... [ Duke needs to think on if he's hungry. He isn't really, but its been long enough that he ought to... ]

... not truly, however, ought to... [ Duke realizes he answered the wrong version of that question. ]

[Ioder brightens, still worried but willing to hide it for now.]

Follow me in to the kitchen.

[ Duke nods, settling the blankets close to how he wants them and following the little emperor. ]

... Two? All? [ Or really one and a half? He's trying to figure out how much he should be looking to help cook for. ]

Ahh... let's make it for everyone. Dhaos and Yuri can eat when they feel like it.

[ An agreeing hum, Duke doesn't want to use more words just yet.

Although he blinks about at the kitchen a moment later. ]

Idea of what? [ He doesn't have any.]

Mmmm... pasta is usually a good default...

[And easy.]

[ That's definitely true. ]

Where? [ He will go through all the cupboards unless given directions. ]

Oh, right above the oven. And the sauce is in the fridge. Pans and pots are underneath the oven.

[ Well. That makes cooking a lot easier. Duke will just get that stuff out and then stare at the oven for a second.

It looks like the same sort Zelda has, so he can figure it out. ]

... I can help, if you're not sure how to use it.

Think know, but your kitchen.

[ Ioder is more familiar with it. Duke will just get things ready for cooking. ]

Alright.

[Ioder offers a smile and gets to work, turning the stove on and going to put water in the pot.]

Do you have any preference on your pasta?

.. Shape? No.

[ So long as it hasn't cooked into one big mass, it was good with him. ]

[Ioder, thankfully, has more skills than that. And he's a better cook than Flynn. Some how.]

Alright well... sauce? We have a few different kids.

... Afraid preference in food is not much beyond 'edible'.

[ And he might find Flynn's cooking to be edible, if just very odd tasting.

Excuse him as he looks at the varieties. ]

Well in that case I say it's a good chance to try something different!

[ Duke blinks once at Ioder, then back at the sauces.

He removes the green can. Says something about 'Pesto' on it. Something new? ]

Mm? ... oh! Petso! It's very delicious. Savory sort of taste. You can make it in to a cream sauce, too.

[Apparently Ioder has been paying attention to Yuri's cooking since getting there.]

[ Maybe Duke should too. ]

Think would like ... as is, first. [ If he's going to try something, he'd like to try it as is before trying a variation. ]

Alright! Here, let me see it.

[Ioder holds his hand out for the jar.]

I think I remember how to make this properly...

[ Duke will just quietly start opening cupboards to see whats inside each. Finding plates, cups, and silverware is just as important as finding out if he will need to provide his own tea. ]

[Meanwhile Ioder gets back to work on the food, getting a pot filled with water, and another for the sauce.

All the while he's humming faintly to himself.]

[ Duke has discovered where most things of importance are in the kitchen, and so he's looking between two shelves. ]

... Bowls, plates?

Mm... bowls might be easier? Unless we want something else with the pasta.
