[GV] - 7 - It don't mean a thing if you ain't got that swing
It looks like Zelos has become enamored of Earth culture yet again and has outfitted the entire club like an American 1920's speakeasy. Each member of the staff has been outfitted with a 3-piece 1920's style suit (in the fabric style of their choice) complete with a matching fedora. Even the ambient music is much jazzier this month!
Per usual the rules and employee roster are posted near the door.
Hosts:
Angelo
Asbel Lhant
Duke Pantarei
Fai D. Flourite (assistant chef and appointments)
Guy Cecil (bartender)
Ioder
Jade Curtiss (bartender)
Malik Caesar (bartender)
Peony Malkuth IX
Rin Okumura (chef)
Serph
Sora and Roxas This month guests are encouraged to get up and dance with their hosts, all the tables having been arranged to each side and the center of the room's floor kept clear for such activities. The bar has its regular assortment of drinks but there's something else called "moonshine" for this theme. 21+ only please!
((ooc: Thank you to Umi for this month's theme! If you have an idea for a theme you want to share, please either PM Zelos' journal or shoot me a plurk on reikofanel, thanks!))

[It's only lightly teasing. Zelos was pretty demanding the day or so Guy had been around him, but that could have totally just been his preschooler perspective. The teenage Chosen had seemed pretty cynical.
To tell the truth, it was all pretty hazy. Guy just remembers a lot of crying. Not an unfamiliar memory, but not exactly a comfortable one, either.]

[The entire ordeal had been embarrassing. He hadn't gone into detail with most people, or really anyone, but Zelda's a smart woman and probably figured some things out (though thankfully not what he thought of her at the time, he hopes), and Guy...
...
The Chosen pauses in buttoning his shirt, glancing over at his friend with an uncommonly soft look.]
...sorry about your sister.

[There's a half-hearted laugh behind the words, but it's dry and habitual - hardly genuine. It's not the first time Zelos has asked Guy about his sister, but it's not as if it makes it any more comfortable to talk about. He doesn't remember saying anything telling, anyways. A lot of the week was a jumbled mess in his memory, though.
His smile stays steady, although he doesn't turn to look at the redhead. He just flips his collar up, swooping the tie around his neck but hesitating to really work on the knot.]
...
No need to be sorry. It was a long time ago.

Maybe, but you don't forget family. And you seemed close.
[He pulls his vest on slowly and smooths it, making sure there are no wrinkles or lint.]
Just, y'know, she may not be gone in the same way but you're not the only one who's lost a sister.
[He's not sure why he's bringing it up and breaking their usual pattern of ignoring and moving on, but something about the way little Gailardia had clung to him and cried, something in the way it had made even his hard little preteen heart crack and reach out... it begged acknowledgement.
Not that it means he can bring himself to look over at Guy. He pulls his own tie from the hanger and fiddles with it to give himself an excuse to look elsewhere.]
ILUVM
[He was aware that the damages of war had affected more people than himself, like that little boy they had met in St. Binah. But more specifically, he remembers the bitter words spoken by Zelos' younger self. Not too unfamiliar to the mixes of things he had felt around that age as well. Sometimes, you can't help but let that anger be evident.]
It can be hard. Knowing what to do when it's out of your control isn't exactly a fun thing to do when you're a kid. Especially when others are saying it's for your own safety. I can't really imagine what that would be like.

[He pulls the tie on, looping one end loosely in the other so it will easily come undone at the slightest tug. When had he learned to bait the hook like that? Fourteen? Fifteen? Without any real guidance he'd taken what life had thrown at him and tried to make it work. He still does it, moving on with the things he'd learned as a boy, even after he'd decided that maybe the world wasn't such a terrible place.
It wasn't something he felt like dwelling on, but perhaps in the same way that Zelos had ended up a gigolo, that sort of upheaval is what changed Guy's path as well.]
Is that how you ended up Luke's servant, then?
[He'd wondered about that since they'd met. A servant with obviously noble baring? Curious. He's fairly certain he has his answer now.]
no subject
[The knot of his tie is pulled up with little more than a clear of his throat.]
Something like that.
[That's a mess he really doesn't want to talk about right now. Did it involve Mary being gone? Vaguely. But that was like saying a fisherman goes out to fish somewhere new just because his cat is hungry. It was just one part of something complicated.
...]
Did you ever see your sister again, Zelos?
no subject
Joke's on him then, Zelos isn't backing down this time.]
She moved in, actually.
[He pulls on his jacket.]
I'm still not entirely sure how she feels about that, honestly. She was pretty pissed when I showed up after everything.
[Most days he could swear she still hates him.]
no subject
[What, did she blame him for something that happened to them as kids? Or if Zelos was the older of the two, maybe it was just the disappointment that the older brother hadn't come to rescue the younger sister sooner.
Guy tucks his jacket against his arm, thumb and forefinger tightly adjusting his tie against his neck.]
Mmmn. I guess it wasn't just because you two had to be separated, huh. Has she ever said why?
[He has a feeling there's more to it than that. Either that, or Zelos is just reading too much into things.]
no subject
She slapped me and told me she never wanted to be Chosen either.
[He gives a rueful smile, eyes closed as he adjusts the lapels on his coat.]
Figures she'd see it as a curse too. If I was less of a coward, I could have just borne it myself instead of trying to slough it off on her.
[I really am the worst.
He shrugs easily, closing his locker with that same covering grin as always.]
She came to live with me anyway though. Much better a mansion than an abbey despite the company, right?
no subject
[It's said matter-of-factly, biting down the response he really wants to give over Zelos' self-deprecating attitude. Yes, it was hard, and Guy couldn't pretend to understand the ebbs and flows of it all. But did he really have to focus on the negative so much?]
Who knows. It's not like you can change the past or anything. But you both could probably use a fresh start.
no subject
[And it's my fault she was there so long.
He heads to the door, so done with this conversation and ready to go do something he's actually good at.]
You're right though. You can't change the past.
[He shuts the door lightly behind him on his way out.]
no subject
He sighs, finally pulling his fedora out and closing up his locker. Nice talking to you, too, Zelos. You sure are a piece of work at the end of the day.]
