Believe it or not, I've witnessed it firsthand.

Even when they choose such a thing, they often have a motivation past it.

You certainly are determined to see the good in everyone, even if it isn't there.

That's because we disagree on the question of whether or not it's there.

Sometimes it can be so obvious, though, and overall you just need to look sometimes.

I think we can agree to disagree.

[Jade's gentle way of saying that the topic was over. They had differing opinions and Jade had heard enough about 'inherent good' in people to throw up puppies.]

[But they're still stuck together, so this is awkward.]

[Indeed. Jade finally pauses and begins to work on the hand gripping again.]

You'd think the Coral would have the decency to at least have us stuck together like normal metaphors.

[Like at the hip or something. You know. So he could have his weapon.]

What do you mean?

[ Ky isn't unfamiliar with the concept of metaphors, but in this context no explanation springs to mind. ]

[Jade laughed and waved his free hand.]

Nothing, I was making light of the situation.

Ah, I see. I apologize, I didn't mean to read too much into it.

[ Ky's feeling very awkward again. ]

[Jade was once again chuckling.]

You needn't be so serious.

[He's pretty sure he's told you this before. Listen to him, dammit.]

[Being laughed at hardly makes him inclined to loosen up.]

It's not an easy thing to change, nor one I see as necessary to do so.

[Jade gave a somewhat chiding smile, and shook his head. It'd taken him years to loosen up, and even so, some would say he still hadn't; in some areas at least. He had a sense of humor, now, at least (One that didn't involve death threats on a good day).]

If we could switch, that'd be lovely. I think my arm is solidifying into place.

[The practical measures are more easy to focus on, after all.]

[Jade stops moving in order to turn around and stretch his arm out a bit, rubbing his shoulder.]

These joints were certainly not made for these curses.

Do you usually find your body giving you trouble? Maybe there's someone that you could talk to who could help.

[Jade laughed.]

I'm certain if I talked to someone about one thing, we'd be sitting making a laundry list of my problems into eternity.

There would be an end, and then you could start working on solutions.

Some things don't have solutions.

[He appreciates your efforts, Ky, Really, but... He sighed and smiled quietly.]

Of course that's not true.

[You're a bit naive sometimes, Ky, but Jade doesn't hold it against you.]

How is your arm doing?

[Jade's gonna tug to see if he can get his hand unattached yet.]
