The door states the posted hours of this fashion boutique, the odd choice of opening one hour after sunset and closing one hour before sunrise... And yet the shop has been open quite a bit more often than that. Some days it hardly even closes. Kanaya has been throwing herself into her work lately, perhaps overdoing it a little. Just about any time someone comes in, she'll be in the back, slaving away on some new dress, or suit, or maybe even a hat. She still hasn't quite mastered the art of haberdashery, but that hasn't dissuaded her from trying.

[Out and about at late hours as always, the redhead gives his informal greeting to the shop at large as he enters, looking forward to seeing what Kanaya's been working on. They'd been trying to get together for quite awhile in order to play around with wardrobes and tonight Zelos was finally able to get away and pay Kanaya a visit.]

[Fai's week has been pretty rough so he decides it is time to do something to get his mind off of..well..everything. He remembers the discussion about clothes before as he is passing by the clothing shop and decides that today is the best day for trying on new clothes.

He pushes the door open and looks around the shop.]

[So this is the place, hmmm?

To be honest, it hadn't been a challenge for Redglare to figure out Kanaya' whereabouts (disappointing really) once she had her sights set on meeting the girl. Kanaya was one of the few young trolls she hadn't met yet, and though she had received some information on her, she still thought it best to actually pay her a visit. With only so many trolls present here, it would be smart to know exactly what they were like, and how useful they could be to her in case of need. And what kind of legislacerator would she be if she didn't have some kind of network?

With those thoughts in mind, she pushes open the door, striding into the shop with the clack of her heels and a pointed sound when she brings down her cane in front of her, leaning on it.]

Miss Maryam, I presume?

[...It's the one suitable for public. The... The other one we don't talk about. Yep.]

[He enters the shop quietly, and raps his knuckles gently on the counter.]

[ She had heard, once upon a time, about a nice place to go and get some fancy ass clothes made. And Roxy, being a classy lady, wanted some new fancy ass clothes. Or at least one fancy ass dress beyond just the masquerade dress she still had in her closet (and may or may not occasionally bring out to wear around her room for shits and giggles shut up don't judge her).

She spends far longer reading the sign than is really necessary before she finally pushes the door open to peek in. ]

[She comes out from the back room and theatrically takes a moment to look around, searching.]

Where'd you leave him, Zelos? Outside?

[A sewing machine can be heard whirring away in the back room.]

Just a moment, please.

[The machine stops at Kanaya finishes whatever stitch she was making, and she come out from the back room to greet her visitor.]

Oh, hello Fai. How have you been?

[Saturday] it is, then!

Yes, how may I...

[She cuts off as she gets a look at her visitor. Terezi? No... Her ancestor then? ]

Ahem. How may I help you, Miss Redglare?

[Safe enough. If this was some weird future/older Terezi, she surely wouldn't mind being called that name while wearing that outfit.]

[Kanaya hears the soft noise in her display room, and comes to greet the visitor. She's pleasantly surprised to find that the soft noises were not, in fact being caused by some small child or intelligent mouse trying to get her attention, but that of one of the largest and certainly the strongest of the trolls. It would be an amusing juxtaposition of expectation and result, if one didn't know of his habitual preference for remaining unnoticed.]

Darkleer! It's good to see you. Did the Disciple force you out into the open again?

[She's just putting the finishing touches on one of her displays, making sure the suit is sitting correctly on the model.]

Oh! Hello. Welcome to my shop. You're Roxy, right?

[She's seen this girl around on the network, but they've never really had a chance to meet, have they? Kanaya doesn't know exactly what's going on with the alpha kids in general, but the seeing the name Lalonde around has her a bit intrigued.]

Equius and Gamzee did. At any rate, I was hoping I could commission you for other items, possibly. Do you have the time?

[It would be difficult for Kanaya to think any better of him than she already does... She doesn't know his history, only his actions since they've met. Those actions have spoken volumes for her about the quality of his character. ]

Yes, though for you if I did not have time I would be sure to make some. Do you have any ideas for what you might like?

Something for winter, perhaps... I know it is not yet too obvious, but the weather on the island has been slowly changing. Besides, with how capricious the city is, one never knows.

[Idly, he adjusts his glasses.]

All my other winterwear is rather worn and in poor shape, I must admit.

[He had to make his own, after all, in exile. He hadn't been able to grab his clothes during it, and it is only thanks to an old friend that he had been able to get what he had.]

[She shifts a little, her stance relaxing.]

Maybe I came here because I am curious and wanted to talk to you. I guess we don't know until it happens!

[Ding ding ding! Did somebody order a fellow Space player? Jade doesn't usually have a reason to pop on into Kanaya's shop besides saying hello, but for once she actually has an agenda!]

[It's a late hour but it seems to Washu that doesn't matter around this particular shop. So to settle her curiosity, she has a possible request for the seamstress if she's in.]

I haven't worked much with cold weather clothing before, but I'm sure I can figure out something that will be appropriate. After all, there's the fashion history of dozens of cultures available in the books at the library, and humans in particular have managed to create clothing for any situation while maintaining a high level of visual appeal.

[It's true though. She grew up and honed her skills in a desert, and her land in Sgrub was rather tropical. As always, she's looking forward to trying something new like this. She distinctly remembers some winter fashions in a few of the magazines she's been studying... something about fur lined jackets... Oh course, Darkleer is vegetarian, she'll use Faux-furs.]

[Kanaya has never made a habit out of lying... and she's never been that good at it. She's pretty good at noticing when others are hiding the truth, and has a well earned reputation as a meddlesome fussyfangs (wow loaded phrase). She doesn't want to get into her own recent events any more than Fai does his, so she's willing to let this slide.]

I've been quite busy lately, but not so busy that you're any sort of bother. Do you have anything in mind that you might like to try wearing? If there's nothing on display that catches your eye I have a few magazines you can look at.

That is true... This is a very diverse place. I suppose it must be quite a boon to be in such a place when it comes to fashion.

[Sure, he doesn't know much about it, but he figures it's like with any other skill or hobby. You always want to get better, and sometimes that means comparing and taking from different areas.]

What sort of cultures interest you the most, then? Besides our own.

[ Didn't she see this classy dame at the masquerade? She's pretty sure she did. And that she got mistaken for Rose (which is totally awesome and a-okay in her book). Roxy was pretty gone that night, though; it's hard to remember much. ]

[This must be Terezi's ancestor then. She had noted the arrival of both of the Teal blooded trolls to the city on the network, but she didn't have a chance to meet with either till now. Unfortunately all she knows of Redglare is her name, thanks to Terezi adopting the name for her roleplaying persona. She can only hope the real Redglare is a bit less bloodthirsty than the character her descendant played.]

We've already started talking, but I don't see any reason why that needs to be mutually exclusive with getting you new clothing if you want.
