A return of sorts

[It's not a fun thing, discovering your ex has quite possibly gone off the deep end. It's even worse when he decides to shove you like unwanted trash at a 15 foot man-looking sorceress who's about to Junction you to her. Just as Adel reached for her, Rinoa screamed and tried to scramble back...

And suddenly found herself soaking wet and stumbling backwards into a fountain. She sputters and splashes, trying to regain her focus. When the panic finally subsides and she's calm enough to think, she slowly climbs out of the fountain, spitting out some of the water she swallowed. Yuck.

Once she's on the edge of the fountain, she sits and looks around, taking in the... strangely familiar surroundings. A bubble under the sea. She's seen this before.]

...Oh.

[Vatheon. Her second home.]

I'm back.

Argilla?

[Rinoa looks up, smiling in relief to see a familiar face.]

I just came back. I went home for a bit.

[When she realizes that might come as a surprise to Argilla, her smile fades.]

...You didn't know?

[teradine]

[Argilla notices her smile fade, and that kind of worries her. They don't live together, and it isn't as if she has a reason to check the contact list every day, after all, but after what happened, she probably should have been more attentive.

. . . She simply shakes her head.]

It's been a few days, at least. But I wasn't sure.

. . . Welcome back.

[She feels bad for it, that fading smile, but it sort of made her feel like she had been left out and forgotten, even if it was completely untrue. Lingering issues, ahoy.]

At least it wasn't too long, then. Everyone behave themselves while I was gone?

[For what it's worth, she was never forgotten. But at her question, she does look a little amused.]

For the most part. [Heat will always be Heat.] But more importantly, I hope you're all right.

[. . . She's not the first person to land in that fountain, or even the second.]

[Rinoa starts to giggle, because she has a good feeling she knows who Argilla is referring to.]

There's always one in the bunch.

[She nods, not at all hurt.]

I'm fine. I didn't even know I had landed until I was already in the water.

[teradine]

[The giggle admittedly does reassure Argilla slightly, so she feels less of a need to pry. Instead, she just nods, glancing back at the water of the fountain for a moment . . .

No blood.]

It must have been very disorienting.

[Even without landing in that thing, she remembers how confusing it'd been, to be suddenly relocated like that. But it has happened to Rinoa at least once before, so perhaps it wasn't quite that bad the second time.]

Yeah, a little.

[Argilla would be somewhat right. Physically she was still just as disoriented and loopy as she did when she first came. However, the confusion certainly didn't last as long.]

At least I know where I am this time.

[teradine]

[She nods. And although anyone else might've offered her a towel, Argilla doesn't really think to.

Water never really hurt anyone, after all.]

That's true. I've heard that some forget . . . I'm glad that you haven't.

[She sounds quite relieved, actually, now that she thinks about it. As they step away from the fountain, Argilla lets her lead the way.]

[Rinoa nods as she begins to walk, heading towards her home. Hopefully she remembers the shortcut...]

Yeah, I don't get how that works either. Why some remember and some don't. But I'm glad I remember, too. I'd hate to start all over, and do that to you guys.

[teradine]

[Argilla follows easily. Hopefully Rinoa doesn't mind her tagging along for a while as they talk; although she is silent for a while as she thinks on Rinoa's words.

Starting over . . . now that she thinks about it, that's kind of what the Embryon have done here, in their own way.]

I'm sure we aren't the only ones who were concerned, either. Is there anyone you'd like to see before heading home?

[Rinoa will almost never turn down company, and she could use a companion.]

I'll call a few people and see what they're up to when I get home. I need to get changed, anyway. [Seeing as she's pretty soaked.]

[teradine]

[Ah, of course. At that, she turns and sees the state of Rinoa's clothes. Now that she's lived with dry clothes for a while, she supposes she can understand why it would be a little annoying, the way it clings to the skin.

She just nods.]

All right. I'll walk with you-- perhaps we can talk.

[Which they were already doing, but shh details.]

I'd like that. I mean, I couldn't remember anything about this place back home, but now that I'm back, I miss talking to you guys.

[teradine]

We've missed it as well.

. . . And there's someone you should meet, when you both get the chance.

[sorcery_fledgling]

Someone...? [She tilts her head, looking a bit excited.] Is it another person from the Embryon?

[teradine]

[It takes a moment for her to respond. Jinana was a leader of the Maribel tribe, and tragically, they barely had a chance to spend time together as true comrades, but . . .

Vatheon would be different.]

She is. Her name is Jinana, and I think you may have missed her arrival.

But she's been living at the base with us.

[Argilla looks very pleased-- she's practically glowing when she talks about her. She just knows the two of them get along.]

Ah, that's great!

[It does make her wonder just how many people are in the Embryon, but she's not complaining at all.]

Did she make a network post at all? I don't remember any being made before I left from someone like that, but if she did I can at least go back and check.

[Argilla does seem really happy, and Rinoa wonders if they were close back home. At a later time she might ask, but she's still adjusting to everything again and processing all this new information.]

[They were actually one of the smaller tribes -- the smallest that held any territory. But regardless, they were family. Comrades. And she is always happy to talk about them, especially Jinana.

At Rinoa's question, she nods.]

She did. You can take a look if you'd like, but you shouldn't feel obligated.

[She smiles. Her questions have already been answered by now, after all-- and there will be plenty of opportunities for them to meet, anyway.]
