[Although the monitors and wires and needles still scared Rinoa, the care she has been receiving counter-balanced the uneasiness the place made her feel. And really, the doctors and nurses had been doing a good job of taking care of her, to the point where she was likely ready to go home in another day or two.

All in all, she was lucky. She wasn't as drugged as the other victims (although it was going to make for some bad nightmares for awhile). The needlemarks on her arms were covered with band-aids, and the tears in her back were stitched and bandaged. The only other visible injury was her eye. The swelling had gone down, leaving a nice black and blue bruise in its wake. That would heal on its own.

But until she was clear to leave, she was stuck in there, with only her SFC and a small television to keep her occupied. Now that the drugs had been flushed out of her system, she was coherent. And she could really use some company.]

*Selphie was there in a shot, the moment she got word from Squall that Rinoa was okay. She appeared at the clinic with her arms full of baskets - some brimming with flowers, others with chocolate and candy, one full of fruit, and another with soaps and a large cuddly chocobo. Each basket was decorated with a huge colourful ribbon. So when Selphie entered, probably only her feet can be seen, but of course she yells out*

Rinoa!~

[Rinoa was just beginning to doze off when she heard her name called. Sitting up, she almost gawked when she saw all those baskets, and the boots on Selphie's feet.]

Selphie?! Oh my - you didn't have to bring all of those!

[She reaches out to take a basket or two off her hands, because holy crap.]

Oh! Don't worry! I got 'em! Easy!

*Selphie didnt let Rinoa take any of the baskets, just put them down one by one surrounding her with them*

Nah..it‘s just a coupla things, ya know, to cheer you up and keep you happy!

*But when Selphie finally looks at Rinoa, her face begins to crumple up*

A couple? [Rinoa laughs at that, because it's funny - and sweet - how overboard Selphie likes to go.

But her laughter dies with Selphie's smile, and frowns worriedly.]

Hey, Selph, it's okay. It all looks worse than it really is.

*Selphie's face grows sadder still and she almost sits on the bed when she thinks better of it and jumps away to sit on the vistor's chair instead. The moment she does, Selphie rubs her face with her hands and let's out a quiet sob*

Rinny...I'm so sorry...I couldn't find you...I wanted to help...

[Too much guilt and pain. There's just been so much of both lately, and Rinoa just wishes it would go away. She's suffering, but worse yet, so are her friends.]

Selphie, it's not your fault. [A hand reaches out and wraps around Selphie's shoulder.] I'm out now and getting better, and he's not on the loose anymore.

*Selphie flinches at the hand on her shoulder, and it takes her a good moment or two before her shoulders relax. When they do, though, she's still staring down at the floor, her hands in little fists on her knees*

I'll get him... He's gonna pay so bad for this...

No, no no.

[Rinoa shakes her head at that.]

He's gonna get locked up, okay? Squall and the Force won't let him out of their sight for a long time. Killing or hurting him or anything like that won't solve things.

What?!

*Selphie looks up, startled, her eyes wide, and looking more than a little bit pissed off*

No way! He hurt you! He doesn't deserve to get away with it! Look at what he did to you!

I know! [Rinoa forgot about Selphie's vengeful streak. And she doesn't blame her for it, not one bit, but...]

I'm not saying to forgive him or anything. I know I won't. But think about it. Inflicting pain on someone, not because you're defending yourself or others or even being in a battle, but because you want to make them suffer? Even if it's in revenge or to make them to pay, is it really any better than what he did to me and the others?

He's been caught and locked up. That's enough for me, Selphie. I just want to put it behind me and move on.

*Selphie sighs and lets her shoulders droop, though at least she's not got her hands in fists any more. She takes a deep breath and glances back up at her friend*

O...okay. If you say so...and you're sure...

I am. Thanks. [She gives her a smile.] Thing that worries me though, is how many others want to hurt this guy? The DF is going to have their hands full with the backlash, especially after a public confession.

*Selphie tilts her head, sitting back in the chair, apparently a bit more relaxed*

DF?

*She doesn't even know what it is, let alone that she's in it - stupid memories*

The Defense Force? Squall and Serph run it. You were a member when you were last here.

Oh... It does sound kinda familiar I guess.

*Selphie tilts her head and thinks about this, before she suddenly looks very concerned*

Oh! Then I gotta be out there doing something!

I'm sure you're okay for right now. You can talk to Squall or Serph later if you want back in, though.

*Selphie gives a definite nod to that, then smiles as she looks at the baskets*

Well, I hope there's enough stuff here to keep you happy while you're stuck in bed. How long are you gonna be here for?

I think there's enough to keep a whole army occupied.

[She's smiling when she says it, because Selphie and overboard are just two peas in a pod.]

Until at least Tuesday. If it weren't for the wounds on my back, I'd have been out of here by now.
