[A wild MAKA appeared!

...Not that Yukari really wants to disturb her while she's reading, but she did decide it'd be a good idea to come check on her. And Rin. So . . . she approaches after spotting her.]

Hey.

[Her voice is a whisper, though with how silent things are in the library, she may as well have shouted it.]

[Sorry, were you trying to be quiet? Because when she sees Yukari, she immediately goes for the Usual Tone of Voice.]

Yukari! Hey, how have you been?

[. . . oh. Well, if she's not going to bother being hush-hush, she won't either. She raises her volume to match.]

Um-- not too bad! [Better than those being murdered/tortured, anyway.] I guess I just wanted to check on you guys with everything that's been going on lately . . .

I'm glad you're safe.

[It's her library, she does what she wants.]

Ah...yeah, it's been hectic lately, but we're doing all right.

[Besides keeping the dead cat in the house for days. Pip is still pacing around to make sure no one else in the house is injured.]

I'm glad that you're okay, too. Since...since it happened to Bianca, I haven't been feeling so confident.

Y- Yeah. I know what you mean.

[She remembers Zelda's broadcast all too well, and the way her heart sank when they finally heard from Bianca again. She bites her lip; and speaking of not feeling confident . . . well.]

It doesn't help that we haven't been able to catch the guy.

[Yeah. She's plenty unhappy about that, though she's not entirely sure where to direct it.

Maybe she blames herself, in part.]

You'll find him. In my experience, people like that don't stay hidden for very long. Murderers often have egos.

[It's why they have no qualms about hurting sweet and innocent girls like Bianca. People like that make her sick.]

And when you do, he'll get what's coming to him.

--As in proper justice, not beating him up. [Though she's quite confident several will want to.]

. . . Right.

[The addendum actually makes her laugh a bit. Maka had spoken so openly and knowledgeably that it was honestly a little surprising; so something a little more lighthearted was definitely welcome.

Yukari just nods.]

I just hope it's soon. I hate being on edge like this.

[Especially since Vatheon is supposed to be peaceful and all.]

Yeah...me, too. I should be used to it considering what I've told you about my work as a Meister, but...I've gotten used to things being so peaceful here. I think I actually have started to like not having duties to protect the peace all the time.

[And that's some major blasphemy coming from her considering at home she was all about her birthright duty. But still...it's been an awful long time of peace and quiet in Vatheon, no need to fight or slay anything, no insanity wavelengths influencing others. It's been nice.]

[It's a nice change for Yukari, too, at least once she got used to it. Though she does have her moments where she misses Port Island, and thinks about home.

. . . Jeez. It's a wonder she can still remember what it looks like. How long would it take her to forget . . . ?]

All I ever wanted was a normal life, anyway.

[Though she's actually not sure how much she even told Maka about what things were like back home.]

[Kanaya is walking through the library with a few books that she's looking to check out, though she hasn't finished looking around. She decides to put the search on hold though when she spies a friend she hasn't seen for a while.]

[Her troll friends are sights she hasn't seen in quite a while, and with Gamzee and Karkat--her two closest troll friends--well, she was bodyswitched with her boyfriend so it wasn't really seeing them.

Hope you don't mind her standing up and going for a hug, Kan.]

Gosh, it's been ages. How have you been? Sorry for not contacting you, I've been a little busy.

[Not at all, and she'll show it by setting aside her books and meeting Maka halfway for the hug.]

I understand entirely. I've been swamped with work myself, as well as a few other obligations... though they haven't all been unpleasant ones.

Haha...I know the feeling on that, too. My boyfriend has been pretty demanding lately, but I don't mind so much.

[Then she remembers that not all of her friends know she even has a boyfriend, so she fiddles with her skirt awkwardly and shakes her head.]

A-and yes, I have a boyfriend know. I'm hoping everyone will be able to meet him eventually, but that's another topic. How's work been?

Challenging and rewarding, but don't think you can deflect that easily. Who's the lucky person? Anybody I might know? I'm sure I won't have to follow the apparent human tradition of your friends threatening your matesprit with bodily harm should they emotionally harm you, though I can if you'd like.

[Of course she's joking. Kinda. Maybe halfway joking. But seriously, she'll do it if you want. Ok, maybe more than half way joking.]

[She blushes a little at the "matesprit" comment.]

Ah--it's okay. I'd beat him up plenty if he was ever a jerk to me.

I thought you would be capable of taking care of your own matters, and I'm happy for you, really. I... I've had a similar change of fortune regarding my own relationships, actually.

Mephisto Pheles, correct? I'm aware. She has been involved of something of a game with him. I apologize if she's cause you or your boyfriend any trouble.

Uhm...wait. No. I don't want to do that. I am sorry if she's been a bother, but it's just the way she is. She enjoys instigating wars of pranks with others, and I think Mephisto enjoys participating.

Ah, it's no different than how John gets...and if it's entertaining Mr. Faust and keeping him out of Rin's hair that's all right. [Shrug!] Actually Rin's only found out that they're brothers recently, I don't think he's taking it well still.

[Which is...bad since she's the one that figured it out and told him in the first place.]
