Meet the Bon-Bon

Bon can be found either: in the library, his room, the kitchen, the gym (early in the morning for this one, I'm talking like 5:30-6:30), or outside working on his makeshift zen space.
Go forth and... socialize? With him? ]

Hello! I haven't seen you around before, are you the Bon Rin's been telling me about?
no subject
One and only.
[ Pause. Assess. ]
You must be Maka.

I'll be honest with you, I was almost starting to think he had made you up.
no subject
No...I'm pretty real.

I can see that now. Good to know he hasn't gotten desperate enough to lie about it.

[A very simple and blunt statement from the resident nerd girl.]
Ah, your first name is actually Ryuuji, though, isn't it? Would you rather I called you that?
no subject
Forget it. If you already know the nickname, it'll just be easier that way.
[ Sometimes he wonders if people forget he even has an actual name. ]

[So she's not up on the culture of Japan, despite her headmaster being a gigantic weeaboo himself.]
I'm not very fluent in Japanese.

[ Bon pauses and sort of rubs at the back of his head with a frown. ]
...kind of embarrassing, and an old nickname from when I was a kid. It's from bocchan, which is a word meaning 'young master'. And with my mom owning an inn and my dad being the head monk, it's... sort of what I am.

But it's not working.]
That's...that's really cool.
[And it's cute but calling guys cute is the fastest way to piss them off.]
no subject
[ Damnit. He's just going to... bury his face into this book he pulled down. ]
At least it's better than actually being called bocchan.
no subject
[And that's final.]
It fits with your cool guy image, too. I'm sort of jealous, I've never had a nickname before.
[Besides.......tiny tits. But can we not get started on that, please.]
no subject
He glaces up at her at that and pauses, taking a moment to look her over before looking down at the book. ]
We'll get you one.

[That makes her so bloody happy one would think that he had just told her he somehow has information that says she maintains a perfect GPA and attendance in school for the rest of her time there.]
no subject
Well, yeah. If ya want one that bad. Shouldn't be hard.
no subject
W-well, I...I don't know, nobody's ever given me a nickname before, like I said.
...Ah...although my friend back home used to call me tiny tits, so...I should say that I've never been given a nickname out of being considered a friend.
no subject
Yeah that's not--
[ AHEM. ]
--Makkan.
[ eureka ]
no subject
Makkan?
[She says it a few more times under her breath, testing how it sounds. Then she smiles.]
Makkan...I like it, thank you.

[ Bon stands, closing the book as he does, and he moves toward the shelf next to her. A hand finds itself lightly resting on top of her head as he puts the book away.
Totally just there for balance and not because patting her head seemed like the thing to do. ]
Just gotta spread the word on it.
