[Ion was dead set on making himself helpful to his new roommates. He was sure that Izaya hadn't run out of food so quickly when he lived on his own, so Ion went out on a perilous journey to replenish all the food stocks in the house and then some. He looks determined as he's shopping - this is serious business.]

[One of the people Ion passes on his grand shopping adventure is Squall.

Oh, I'm sorry! Nothing is wrong, sir. I'm just looking for the grocery store...

[Ion looks a little sheepish.]

Do you know where it is?

[Grocery store? That's it? The way the kid was looking, Squall was wondering if there was a battle looming or something.]

It's down that way.

[He points in one direction.]

Thank you, sir!

[Ion bows politely, then he gets his serious face back on as he heads in the direction Squall pointed.]

[Squall was actually on his way there too. Grocery shopping was kind of weird for him - he had always lived in a place where everything was provided for you before being taken to Vatheon.

And who knows, maybe he'd see that kid there. Squall had to admit he was curious about what was so important about going to a grocery store.]

[And sure enough, Ion was at the grocery store. He looked a little lost, but he was managing just fine look Anise he's taking care of himself!. Until he got to the fish selection at least. Ion recoiled from the dead fish, turning slightly green.]

Ugh... t-they're whole!

[Oh look, there's the kid.

...he's not doing too well, is he?]

Of course they are. A lot of people use the whole fish when they cook.

R-really? It doesn't bother people to be... stared at like that? I thought they would already be partially prepared...

[In fact, he was kind of counting on it.]

Izaya seems to like fish though, so if this is how it's sold, I should get some...

[Well...maybe it would bother Squall if he wasn't so used to seeing dead wildlife.]

They've got ones with the heads and tails cut off over here if you want.

[Sure enough, there's some precut and prepackaged fish over to the side.]

[Ion seems surprised to see him. Crap, he's failing his covert grocery mission!]

Well, the truth is...

I wanted to help out everyone, you know? So I was going to go grocery shopping by myself. I didn't want to trouble anyone.

[Because doing all the laundry he can get his hands on and cleaning up like a good little housewife wasn't helpful enough.]

[Ion looks in his basket.]

So far, milk, eggs, some of that fatty tuna Izaya seems to like... what do you like, Laharl?

Yeah, I was gonna mention that... fish... thing Izaya likes.

[ Bit of a sideglance. ]

Get him some tea, too. Kinda saw he was running low.

[ But back to normal, folding his arms across his chest. ]

Just get me some meat.

[ A beat. ]

And stop apologizing all the time, geez! You that much of a wuss? Ya gotta stand up for yourself sometime!

[Okay, adding some tea then. How cute Laharl, you noticed what Izaya eats! It's one thing for a considerate guy like Ion, but Laharl? Interesting~]

Right, meat.

[Ion just smiles at Laharl in response to being told to stand up for himself.]

There's no reason to stand up to you. We're allies, we live together. I want to get along with you.

[The Fon Master perks up. It's not troubling someone if they were going with or without him!]

I have not actually been shopping before, so I'm not entirely sure how to do it.
