[ There's a scuffle, Vatheon. His SFC is pointed to the sky but anyone would be able to hear him distinctly over the network. ]

Blimey, ow. Ah, hell... it all hurts.

[ Ronald's prodding his cheek slightly with a thumb as he gets up. Truth be told, he's an absolute wreck. His uniform's bloody and a mess, his hair's disheveled and his glasses are being groped for before being put back on his face. ]

ow... owowowowowowow... Beastly, that's what he was. Not that I'd expected mercy... cor now, hold on...

[ And then he realizes he isn't on the ship anymore. ]

This isn't the Campania. Did I fall into the ocean then?

[ There's a sigh though as he strains to sit up, finally spotting the SFC and eyeing it curiously before picking it up. ]

...Don't think anyone can hear me through this, can they?

Roughly every two weeks, there are strange occurrences that effect the residents--those like you and I, at least. Colloquially, they've become known as 'curses.' Each one is different, and some are worse than others, but none are very convenient or pleasant.

[ Information for information, man. He'll blab at you back once he finds something worth blabbing about.

But first you get a weird look that lasts for a few seconds. ]

Well. Whoever said the best things in life were free was absolutely barmy then. Suppose that's the price we have to pay for living here.

But give it to me straight. How bad does it get?

Everything is free of charge for us, here. It would be far too good to be true not to have to pay some sort of price, yes.

[ he's still betting on human--or...whatever the residents happen to be--experimentation. ]

There are curses which alter your mind to make you think you are someone or something else, curses which alter your appearance to actually make you someone or something else, curses which make you sick, which alter your perception--there is really no end to it. Not to mention that the local staff at the clinic has a terrible sense of humor.

[ yes, he's still bitter about that. ]

[ And now he's looking more and more uneasy with each example Ciel's giving out. However, he tries to brush it off as always. That isn't to say, however, that he isn't taking note of it. ]

Terrible humor, eh? Wager they're going to be the least of our worries. But cor if that isn't the strangest thing I've heard. Seems like everything's getting thrown at us here.

Very nearly everything, yes. But you've your...compatriots to rely on, at the very least. [ and this is a much more amiable conversation than he's every managed to have with either of them, Knox. it's kind of strange, actually. ]

[ Shut it, Ciel. He'll make it fun, curses or no. And really, he's the most approachable of the three of them. Think about it. ]

Yeah, I prolly do... but I'm sure you've got a friend or two here. Six months or so, you should've made some by now.

And that butler of yours. [ Though he seems hesitant to mention the reason as to why he's still a mess. ]

[ he's certainly the most amiable one, at least, simply by virtue of having not murdered Ciel's aunt, and not obviously loathing him for having contracted with a demon.

but seriously, get with the program. Ciel Phantomhive does not have--or make--friends. ]

I have Sebastian, yes. [ his tone is clipped. wasn't that obvious? he'll always have Sebastian. ]

And as such, I should not have to warn you not to get in my way. Sutcliffe and Spears have done a surprisingly admirable job of that so far, and I expect you to continue it.

[ If there's one thing he is, it's stubborn. He's gonna be your friend, Phantombrat whether you like it or not. ]

S'not slacking off. There just isn't a thing for us to do here and I'm sure Mister Spears wouldn't mind us taking a bit of time off, given the circumstance.
