BIRTHDAY BASH OF THE AGES (aka Squall's Birthday Party)
[It's the 23rd of August. And one particular Lion is turning 18 today. You know what that means.
BIRTHDAY PARTY!
It's here at last! If you're up on the island near the bay at around 8 PM, you'll see all these damn tiki lamps all over the place. There's also a huge tent set up with food set up underneath it, mainly appetizers and snacky foods. Also, drinks! No booze, although if any is brought Rinoa will tolerate it so long as it doesn't get out of hand.
The main entry on the food table are the three cakes set up, all in the shape of Griever. One is large while the other two are smaller. So there's plenty of cake to go around, thanks to Johnny!
Right next to the food tent is the battery-powered boombox which is blasting all kinds of music. There's a nice stack of CDs on the stand with it, so pick out any music you like and feel free to blare it!
And last but not least, there's a beach volleyball net set up for anyone to play, whether it's one on one or in teams. Or, really, if you just want to smack the ball around. Try not to lose it in the ocean though :(
Like Rinoa said in her post, everyone is invited. She opened it to the whole bubble for a reason. So come on by, even if you don't have a present for Squall, or even know him. Just remember to pester him and say happy birthday~at your own peril]
((OOC: It's up! Everyone tag in! I'll be putting up threads shortly for the different sections of the party. Seriously though, don't feel intimidated if you don't know the party thrower (Rinoa) or the VIP (Squall). This is a good chance to mingle and build CR, especially for newcomers. Feel free to have them just... wander up to the island and see what all the noise is about.))

That's a real friendly looking "demon" if she ever saw one. Of course, she knows by now that there aren't really any demons here... at least none from Karma City or the Junkyard.
...So she approaches, since he seems almost playful, throwing the ball up and down.]
A...volleyball?
[Oh gosh. She recognizes it!]
no subject
Sure is! Wanna play?
no subject
[Argilla remembers this-- the sensation of diving to catch the ball, only to miss with her face planted in the sand. It was... fun. Her memories aren't perfect, mind you, but she knows well enough to get on the side of the net opposite from him.
...So she'll do just that.]
no subject
[He may be small, but he can play pretty well. He throws the ball up, jumps, and spikes it - it's a hard hit, but nothing that would hurt anyone. Yay fun!]
no subject
It comes harder than expected, from someone that size, but she's still able to hit it back, at least this time. She's smiling.]
What is your name?
no subject
[And he's agile, too, able to zip over and hit it back without skipping a beat.]
no subject
I'm Argilla.
[...No harm in making a bit of smalltalk during friendly competition.]
You're a friend of Squall's, then?
no subject
[When it's his turn, he catches the ball, and has it spin on his finger. Globetrotters, eat your heart out.]
I know a 'version' of him. I've met him from another world. But he's a good guy, no matter what.
[And... return!]
no subject
She simply has to try it out for herself-- so that's what she attempts to do, when the ball's returned to her. Unfortunately, though, she's...not as skilled. And it falls into the sand with a plop.
Oh.]
A version...from another world?
[There's a frown, but she doesn't seem too bothered. She'll just bend down to pick it up as she digests this information.]
Then there is more than one of him.
[Is that what he's saying?]
no subject
A-huh. See, sometimes some worlds have different versions of the same people from another world. It can be kinda confusin', but ya can't control how a world and its people are gunna turn out. I've had people here recognize me from their world, even though I was never there.
no subject
She won't interrupt him until he is finished.]
How strange.
[Honestly... the first two words that come to her mind. But then she thinks about it a little more, and--]
I'm not sure I like that there could be another "me" somewhere that I don't know about...
[She frowns, though he's made it clear there isn't anything they can do about this, so...she'll try to keep her head in the game. It doesn't feel as if she's completely wrapped her head around the idea yet, anyway.]
no subject
[His turn? Maybe he'll go a little easy on her, since this whole issue is messing with her.]
What if we made different decisions... or were born in different places.
no subject
She thinks about it a little more; and because he's going lightly on her, she's able to return the ball without problems. What if things had gone differently...? Back home--]
Subtle changes, then. But still...significant.
[Or so she thinks. Location? Decisions? They're important...]
no subject
And maybe it means everyone ya like have their own doubles... though I dunno if I could handle two Donalds... but I wouldn't say no ta two Minnies!
no subject
It makes it easier for her to smile as they continue to play.]
Friends of yours?
[She's never heard their names before.]
no subject
no subject
[He has a wife... a queen! How interesting-- and if logic follows, that would make him a king. Should she be bowing?]
What kingdom is it that you rule, exactly?
no subject
no subject
[That does sound like something a ruler-- a king, would do, she supposes.]
You must miss it, though... sometimes.
no subject
no subject
Not that it's a bad thing, of course. But oops.
...She'll just chase after it now, give her a moment.]
no subject
Ya play real good, yanno!
no subject
Thank you. But I could still use some practice, it seems.
no subject
no subject
I am...
And you?
