vatheon | BIRTHDAY BASH OF THE AGES (aka Squall's Birthday Party)

[It's the 23rd of August. And one particular Lion is turning 18 today. You know what that means.

BIRTHDAY PARTY!

It's here at last! If you're up on the island near the bay at around 8 PM, you'll see all these damn tiki lamps all over the place. There's also a huge tent set up with food set up underneath it, mainly appetizers and snacky foods. Also, drinks! No booze, although if any is brought Rinoa will tolerate it so long as it doesn't get out of hand.

The main entry on the food table are the three cakes set up, all in the shape of Griever. One is large while the other two are smaller. So there's plenty of cake to go around, thanks to Johnny!

Right next to the food tent is the battery-powered boombox which is blasting all kinds of music. There's a nice stack of CDs on the stand with it, so pick out any music you like and feel free to blare it!

And last but not least, there's a beach volleyball net set up for anyone to play, whether it's one on one or in teams. Or, really, if you just want to smack the ball around. Try not to lose it in the ocean though :(

Like Rinoa said in her post, everyone is invited. She opened it to the whole bubble for a reason. So come on by, even if you don't have a present for Squall, or even know him. Just remember to pester him and say happy birthday~ ~~at your own peril~~]

((OOC: It's up! Everyone tag in! I'll be putting up threads shortly for the different sections of the party. Seriously though, don't feel intimidated if you don't know the party thrower (Rinoa) or the VIP (Squall). This is a good chance to mingle and build CR, especially for newcomers. Feel free to have them just... wander up to the island and see what all the noise is about.))

Sort of! I did all of the planning alone. Had some people help set up and stuff. And someone else made the cakes, so no worries, they're totally edible.

[She tilts her head to the side.] I know it's kind of overwhelming, but you having any fun yet?

*Selphie giggled as she took another look around, casting an approving eye*

You did a super job! You almost put me to shame.

*Feeling much more comfortable now with a face that she knew, she gave Rinoa a bright wink. As for the question, she looked a little more thoughtful, but she smiled*

Yeah.

You think so? [It wasn't easy, but hey, parties are worth it, right?] I wish you had been here to help plan, though. I bet it'd be twice as awesome.

Good. It'll get better. Personally, I'm looking forward to making everyone sing Happy Birthday to Squall.

*Selphie nods as she looks round again. There might have been a coupla things she would've done differently, but it's still a great effort. So she giggles and Rinoa's comment*

Well, maybe it would! But it's great just as it is!

*She raises a brow, trying to find Squall through small crowds of people*

Wow, he'll really hate that! What a good idea!

[If Rinoa had more time, there'd be some things done differently, too. But she found out about his birthday just a week ago. Not a lot of time to put together a big bash. Darn Squall and his secrets.]

Yeah, I can't see it going over well. But it's an essential part of having a birthday, so, it's going to happen.

*Selphie looked at Rinoa and back at Squall, giggling a little to herself*

It's really sweet of you to do this for him. Did you get him a great present?

I got him a few! Some Triple Triad cards from the Nook, since he needs a new deck. I also got him a journal and a little stuffed lion. [She giggles with Selphie.] I couldn't help it.

Awesome! That's perfect! I got him a binder to keep them all in - figured he'd like to keep all neat and tidy and organised.

*She grinned - that was her commander, after all*

Oh yeah, that's a great idea, too! That sounds like something he'd use. I'd bet ten gil that he'll have them categorized by type and in alphabetical order.

I know, right?

*Speaking as a Triple Triad player herself, though hers are a mess in a box back home*

Nah, nah! They gotta be arranged by skills, and then arranged into alphabet!

[She laughs, because this is such a silly conversation.]

Too bad we can't check in a few weeks to see who's right.

*Selphie tilts her head*

Huh? How come?

Well, we can't just snatch it and look at it. I doubt he carries it on him all the time.

*Selphie raises a brow again - what you talking about Rin?*

Uh - hullo, you can totally go to his house or room or whatever and take a look!

That would require breaking in, since he probably has the place locked up all the time. [Really, Selph, can you picture Rinoa trying to break into anything?]

*Selphie gives a gently nudge of her elbow*

You mean you don't just go round all the time?

Not... really. I mean, usually we talk over this thing or in other places. I never know when he's home with his Defense Force schedule, honestly.

Huh... You guys just gotta get yourself a date sorted, already!

[SNOOOOORT.]

If you wanna try to convince him, knock yourself out.

*Whee! That sounds like a challenge!*

Just leave it to me!

...I don't know whether to be amused or terrified.

Hmm... I think...

Both!

All right, then I'll be both. You might want to wait a few days, until he's not so overloaded from this party. [An overloaded Squall made for a cranky one, and rightly so.]

Oh, I will! Just you wait, Rinoa! Just you wait!

*Time for a conspiratoral giggle*

[Rinoa gets the distinct feeling she'll be owing Squall an apology in the future.]

I'll be waiting. And all the while pitying Squall and trying not to laugh.
