3rd - I may be a fool, but I intend to be a live fool.
Who: Matrim Cauthon and you!
Where: Inside the Nostalgia Nook
When: Morning to Afternoon
Style: [Action!]
Status: Open~!
[Today, Mat's decided to look through all the selections of longbows, and if what he's muttering is any clue, he isn't finding what he's looking for. Only really seeing all the bows on his right doesn't help any.]
Blood and ashes...Too short. And that one feels about to crack... [He reaches for a couple more, lifting them individually before putting them back with a grumble, leaning on his ashandarei a bit.]
Too light. And that one was too heavy. [He turns left to better see the selection, lifting another possible choice before putting it back with a sigh.]
This one's too tall. And all of these probably wouldn't have enough flaming range. [Bother him?]

[Link tilts his head, frowning in utter perplexity.] Why do you want someone to burn you?
no subject
I don't want someone to flaming burn me.
[He's used to people chastising his language, not taking what he says literally...This won't help at all.]
no subject
[WHAT IS SLANG.]
no subject
He just sighs. Guess he'll have to mind his language here so he doesn't have to explain, instead of so Nynaeve doesn't hit him. Not that he'd been near Nynaeve for a while.
How old is this kid anyway? Olver hadn't even asked things like that when they first found him.]
It's...You know how you hear some words and when you repeat them someone tells you not to because they're bad? It's one of those things. [HOPEFULLY that makes sense.]
no subject
[No Link we do not speak to the Grand Highblood.]
[Also. Whoops.] Um, I don't think you're supposed to say that, though.
no subject
I guess so. [A shrug] We don't say that in my world.
[And he chuckles.] Hasn't stopped me before. [Maybe he'll stop. But it'd only be so he doesn't have to keep explaining what he means.]

I wouldn't ask someone else from your world, if you think that you're not supposed to say them still.

At the question, he laughs, hard.]
I don't think Zelda would, but Elayne, the bloody Queen of Andor, swears just as much - if not more - than me. And she did when she was the Daughter Heir, basically Princess, too.

Seems like it. Doesn't stop them from giving her disapproving looks when we're in private though. [We're meaning him, her secretary/treasurer/spymaster, Thom, Birgitte, Elayne, and her advisor. Them meaning the two who weren't named.]
no subject
[Not insinuating anything at all. ...No, really, he isn't actually insinuating anything.]
no subject
Not as well as Rand, but you could say that. I've saved her hide a couple of times. [And he grew up with Rand, her would-be husband and the father of her unborn twins.]

no subject
No. Light, I'm not a flaming hero. [Light was also a swear, but best not to mention that.]
no subject
no subject
I've saved people. I've saved quite a few people. But I'm not a bloody hero.
no subject
no subject
I'm just...not. [Saving them wasn't exactly heroic by any means in his mind, though he did save them repeatedly without someone telling him to, bar the time with Moiraine.]

no subject
Sorry, Link, but that makes him cackle more than the implication being a princess means you don't swear. Sure Moiraine had thanked him, but Nynaeve, Egwene, and Elayne had flaming scolded him for rescuing them because they already had plans to escape, nevermind the fact that those plans probably wouldn't have worked.
After a couple of moments, he calms down.]
Kid, I don't think heroes get scolded by the people they save. Light, some of them acted like I had done worse than if I had ignored the fact that they were captured.
no subject
[Looking rather bemused at it all, Link waits for the cackling to die down.] Why would they tell you off? That's really mean!
no subject
Dunno. Nynaeve's used to telling me off, since she was our Wisdom. She was the one who always told me to mind my language. Not sure why Elayne and Egwene also told me off.
no subject
[Anything like the Triforce of Wisdom?]
