i'm still a purse owner at heart.
Who: Tsubaki and anyone c:
When: Now?
Where: The Nostalgia Nook
Style: Whichever!
Status: Open!
[Tsubaki doesn't exactly know why she's decided to come here again, this 'Nostalgia Nook' place. But to get here, she's had to fend off a lot of natives trying to get her to participate in this "Fishlympics," so she's damn well going to make the most of it.
It's interesting to her, at least-- and she knows that somewhere, there should be a store that has items she is familiar with. But if she's going to find it, it certainly won't be on her own.
...
Case in point: she seems to have gotten sidetracked by a store with a very large bear in front of it. And there she is, in the back where a very colorful set of glasses are being sold. Pink, blue, yellow...probably even more subtle color differences that she can't even quite tell.
There's one that gets her attention the most, though. And even though all of the others look normal and harmless, she tilts her head and grabs this particular one, out of some twisted burning curiosity. It stands out, after all. It's different.
And she...actually slips it on.
...]
Ridiculous.
[Why does it have a nose-- or a mustache for that matter?!
She has no idea. Because she's never seen glasses like these, and hmpth, they don't even improve her vision. So she is taking them off now, before someone sees her.
......Or not.]

[Whoa. He feels kind of bad for her, because he finds, personally, that there's an impressive variety on display. But it's rather cute how her eyes widen so at what he takes to be a sudden change in clarity.]
See a pair you like more? You can try others before you settle for one or two.
no subject
She kind of shrugs-- a response to both questions, in a way. Because she doesn't know what she wants, and for the first time, she's playing this by ear.]
It is how it is. My vision has never been good, honestly...so I've grown accustomed to it.
[She looks a bit sheepish; there is a quick pause before continuing.]
I wouldn't mind trying on some others, though.
Wouldn't you like a pair as well?
no subject
Nah. Glasses are nice and all, but I don't need 'em. If we're talking appearances, though . . .
[Maybe he can just grab something that doesn't correct his vision.
Swag.]You picked the red one from that stack, right? Why don't you check the others there?
no subject
Hm. There may be other pairs that would look nice on her; so she simply looks contemplative at that, looking some more without replying. Just as she tries on another pair though-- bright this time, yellow like the sun-- she turns around and sees Kurow's
swagchosen pair.Slight amusement on her face, yes. They don't look nearly as much of a joke as the other ones she tried on, with the mustache and the nose, but--]
Can you actually see out of those?
[It's...all black.]
no subject
Yeah. The colors are a little washed out, but my sight's still super. How 'bout you?
no subject
...She just nods in return, taking off the yellow glasses to look at it.]
I wouldn't say super. These aren't as much of an improvement, but it's enough for me to notice.
no subject
Appearance is nice and all, but functionality's definitely more important. If you like those, we can find an identical pair with the same correction on the red ones you picked up earlier!
no subject
True. There really should be a label on these things. But in the end, she puts the yellow glasses back where she found them.]
I think they're a bit too brightly colored for my taste.
[There's a chuckle, and she's already looking for another pair. Got her eyes on the red one, though...]
no subject
Glancing around, he picks up a pair of green glasses and raises them to settle over Tsubaki's face from his angle. A little tweaking here and there, and -- ah.
Hmm, it contrasts a bit. Not that bad. Or is it these sunglasses messing with his judgment?]
no subject
The person wearing the glasses always knows best about how they fit onto her face, after all.]
Green.
[Right, she'll turn to the mirror again to see. The frames fit her face pretty well, and temples blend in well with her hair...
Hmmm.]
no subject
With his brightened sight again, he turns to the mirror, himself, taking in the sight of Tsubaki and her green glasses.]
How's that? Can you see?
no subject
It's nice to see his face again anyway, without the sunglasses. So she gives a nod to reply to his questions, although she'll also shrug.]
Yes. Although it's more difficult to tell whether these are better or worse.
[So they're probably about the same.]
I think the red ones were probably best.
[In terms of vision correcting, anyway.]
no subject
Well, the red ones suited you best, too, so we should totally get you those. I'll buy!
[Not like he had anything else to pay for.]
no subject
Wow, she hadn't been expecting that.]
Are you certain?
[She has tokens...he doesn't have to do it...]
no subject
Of course I'm certain. I got a ton of tokens helping out for that Fisholympics thing. And if it helps you, why not?
no subject
There are probably a ton of reasons why not. But she won't bore him with all of them... she just chuckles a bit, grabbing the red pair of glasses once again.]
I simply meant that it isn't necessary. Are you this kind to all of the strangers you meet?
[...She wouldn't be surprised if the answer is yes, though. He does seem pretty young.]
no subject
Laughing nervously, he dips his head, but then recovers quickly by throwing it back.]
I guess you're right. But there's also no way I can abandon a lady in need of help! Leaves a bad taste in my mouth, y'know.
no subject
In that case, she won't deny him the satisfaction of being her knight in shining armor. So with an amused look, she nods and reaches down to pat him on the head.]
Well, thank you. I most definitely appreciate it.
no subject
Her hand's soft and warm.]
H-haha . . . no problem! Now let's go pay for those, why don't we?
no subject
[To be fair, she hadn't expected anything like this either, upon coming out to shop today. So they're both pleasantly surprised. She'll have to remember this for the future, because etiquette dictates she do something for him in return.
She just... doesn't know what yet.
While thinking about it though, she will idly lead their way to the counter, where a smiling cashier waits.]
no subject
Kurow takes the lead at their close destination, then pulls both pairs of eyewear forward to pay for them. He's made a decent amount of tokens from helping out, so it's not much of a dent in his account.
With the transaction complete, he offers the glasses up to Tsubaki.]
They're officially yours now!
no subject
Is there anywhere else you were planning to go?
no subject
Hm. Still pretty dark.
Craning his head up to Tsubaki, he shrugs.]
Not really. I was just wandering around when I met you inside.
no subject
[Once everything is complete, then, she walks out of the store, being met with the same large bear figure. It's a lot more colorful than she remembers-- although not long after, more locals spot them and start bothering them about the Fisholympics again...
It seems they've noticed the influx of people who shop at the Nostalgia Nook and moved their "soliciting" here.
Huff. She should probably head home.]
no subject
He nods along to their requests, uttering "yeah" or "sure" or "leave it to me!" before he turns back to Tsubaki.]
Looks like my evening's booked. What about you?
