[ The redhead wasn't exempt from Vatheon's curse this time around. At least it wasn't so bad. She panicked slightly upon waking up feeling rather different, but it all lead to absolute glee as Gracia discovered a pair of strange looking wings on her back. Fortunately, it wasn't just for show, she could actually fly using them. And what a day it's been! Flying up and down the city, around the forest, even the pirate ship...

...There was just one other strange thing about this curse. The wings were a wonderful benefit - she's always dreamed of flying! - but whenever she touched or flew past people or plants within her close proximity, the plants wilted somewhat, and the people either yawned or near fainted. She assumed it wasn't anything at first, but when it kept on happening, Gracia could no longer ignore it.

Was that part of the curse, or the power? ]

[ Currently, Gracia was by the park, underneath a large tree. Clad in a new attire with a dark gray hood, the redhead sighs as her fingers hover above a large pink flower. Before she can even touch it, the flower bends slowly towards the ground, its petals losing most of its color. ]

But I don't understand...what am I doing to it? Ooh, somebody tell me!

[ She's clearly frustrated, if her rubbing her hair till it was slightly a mess wasn't indication enough. ]

((OOC: For the canonswap curse, Gracia is currently one of Homestuck's godtier humans; a Rogue of Life to be more specific. From what I've been told by our lovely mod Dees and other Homestuck Vat players, Rogues steal from things to give to their friends, and the Life aspect is self-explanatory. Put it together, and Gracia is able to steal life from others to give back to others as well! xD; Feel free to poke~))

[ Father. Now she's caught up on something that isn't even going to happen. He would be better off walking away now, but she's needlessly killing everything around her, so he actually reaches out and grabs her by the arm -- and keeps the grip firm to prove a point. ]

Keep moving like that and you'll ruin the park.

[ The energy transfer is strong now, coming fresh from draining the life energy of the plants around her. And this time, Gracia feels it. As she drains from what she touches, Walter seems to feed off of it. It makes him stronger. She stops moving, and stares at his hand gripping her arm. She tilts her head slightly to the side, all other movements from her, still. ]

...I'll ruin the park?

[ Gracia frowns. ]

What's...going on? What's happening to me and you? What am I truly doing?

[ The panic isn't there anymore, but she's incredibly confused at this point. It's obvious with the way she stares at the ground with a stern yet lost expression, the way her brows furrow deeply. ]

[ Walter only lets go when Gracia stares down, knowing that she's more likely to stay still now. In addition, this is way too much energy -- he's "full" and doesn't need any more. ]

Don't ask me. But it looks like you're transferring the life of living beings around you.

[ That's what it looks like. He's not sure what the real, actual process here is, though it appears simple enough. ]

[ She answers him silently, with a confused gaze and a tilt of her head slightly to the side. ]

...Transferring life?

[ Gracia looks at Walter up and down, then to her environment where her new powers have already drained most of the life of the plants. ]

...I...transferred the life of those, [ She points at the grass. ] to you? [ She points at him. ]

[ Walter trains his gaze on Gracia, extending an upturned palm as a gesture to go along with his next words. Despite her slowness, he's remarkably patient about unraveling this mystery. ]

Do you have any better ideas? This can't be coincidence.

[ She crosses her arms. ]

That's strange. If it transferred energy to you, then why did the locals...?

[ The look of anxiousness returns to her expression, and she begins pacing around again. ]

[ He's already stopped her once, so he isn't going to bother doing it a second time. Instead, he crosses his arms. ]

I don't know. But that distinction could very well be the reason.

[ She sighs. ]

I don't really understand it.

[ The grass beneath her feet has turned completely brown, decaying all the way to the roots. It makes Gracia frown. ]

But it's not fair. Why must I take the life of other living things in order to help?

[ Walter doesn't disagree, but nor does he do or say anything to indicate otherwise. The life decaying around him doesn't put him off in the slightest. He has already associated land folk with rotting. ]

It's the law of this world. Vatheon itself operates the same way.

[ She leans her back on a sturdy tree, hoping it doesn't decay from its sheer density and mass, yet alas...even the tree begins to wither somewhat. She jumps back and sighs. ]

The law of this world...What a horrible law, then. The land should be a gentle place, one without such things existing like taking life from others to gain life yourself.

If that were the case, this place would have flooded a long time ago.

[ If it's true that the coral takes the foreigners and uses them to power the barrier . . . ]

Give and take is a universal way of life. It's not horrible; it's realistic.

The coral is...well, nobody dies, right?

[ She oversimplifies things. She doesn't seem to realize that if she doesn't touch the coral herself, she will weaken to the point of sickly fatigue. But Gracia sees that as besides the point. Her frown deepens as she realizes majority of the flora surrounding her has already wilted completely. ]

Where should I stay until this curse is over? I don't want to destroy anymore living things...

[ Likewise, Walter frowns a little, finding the answer obvious. ]

If it bothers you that much, stay in one place where the damage has already been done. Or move into a building.

[ No, he's not going to sugercoat it for her. If she's so petrified to move out of fear of harming things as her Orerines nature should demand, she can stand here all week. ]

[ She looks bothered with those suggestions too. ]

But I don't like being stuck in one place with nowhere to go! [...But then, idea get! Gracia's expression turns from sour to enlightened in a matter of seconds. ]

What if I stay inside a box? Will the box wilt too?

[ Walter's expression doesn't change the slightest. Is she serious? ]

And exactly where will you go when you're in a box?

[ She looks at him with such excitement that it might be surprising to know that Gracia is 100% sincere when she says what she says next... ]

Anywhere you wish to go! That's the beauty of a box! It can take you to all sorts of places; places you've never even been to!

[ . . . ]

Boxes don't take you anywhere, much less move on their own.

[ She shakes her head, still pretty dazed and in complete and utter awe over BOXES~~~ ]

You're silly. Boxes have taken me to the battlefield, to see the ocean...you've never been in one, that's all! Once you experience it for yourself, you'll understand what I mean!
