01 - halfway between the gutter and the stars

Who: Shing and you!

When: Early morning of the second curse day.

Status: Open, ohshit.

[So much for luck this time... Shing had managed to avoid most, if not all, of the curses that came his way these last few weeks; however this time, he wasn't nearly so lucky.

He was supposed to be human, last he checked, not... having his body altered into something like this. In his shock he'd stumbled out of the apartment, gasping as he fled on foot to a small street nearby.]

W-what...?! What... happened to me?!

[Seriously, who wakes up to find himself as a half... lizard... thing? He placed a scaly hand on his forehead; Shing could also feel... horns? That was what they were called, right?

He threw a fist into a nearby tree in frustration; that was when he had another unwelcome shock. Not only did his fist tear right through it, but when he connected with the ground the earth shook underneath him; he had enough sense to pull back after, but by then there was a somewhat ominous crack in the ground where he'd accidentally punched it.

In any case, he couldn't exactly stay here lest he end up accidentally hurting his friends. Or worse.

Hence why you now have a half-demon Shing in the plaza trying not to call attention to himself. Which isn't exactly working considering that he's wrecked a couple buildings by accident...

Someone help him figure out what do before he hurts himself, please?]

( OOC: And thus for this event Shing ended up getting the powers of one Amaimon from Ao no Exorcist! It's just his powers, though, not his appearance; so yeah Shing still looks like himself, just to be clear here. For the most part. Do be careful, though; he's stuck in that half-demon transformation point where he's part lizard, apparently... either way have fun? )

... yeah, that's her, all right.

[Suddenly reminded of that one miso tea incident... Shing pauses, deciding not to speak further about Kohaku since Rin seems like he knows her well enough anyway.

In any case, he sighs, glancing down at his hands before looking back up at Rin appreciatively.]

... thanks. I can use all the help I can get here about this.

[Well... he's handling it alright, all things considered. Better than Rin himself did, anyway, when he found out.

And Rin's was far more... permanent than Shing's will ever be.]

... yeah well... just try to keep calm, 'kay?

[he pauses, then holds his hand out awkwardly]

Name's Rin Okumura.

I'll try to.

[It's okay, Rin; Shing's not gonna judge if and when Rin's heritage comes out! He takes the hand, giving it a good shake.]

Shing Meteoryte. Nice t' meet you, Rin!

[Rin shook his hand back, though it was pretty clear he didn't greet people like that often.]

Uh... you should probably tell Kohaku what's goin' on...

[Shing pauses as he looks at himself again, grinning a little.]

Now that I know what's going on, though... this is kinda cool.

... oi oi oi! Don't get carried away! Bein' a demon ain't all fun and games yehknow!

I know, but still... I think it can't be all bad, just saying.

[Shing, gdit :| ]

... you really have no idea.

[Sorry? He's a huge derp, can you tell?]

Maybe not... but then again, what would I know.

[There's a serious pause here before he pokes at his ears.]

I should probably try to find Kohaku now... I'm pretty sure she's wondering where I disappeared to.

[A bigger derp than Rin. Who'da thunk.]

... yeah. Might be a good idea.

[Shing nods a bit -- though he pauses. Knowing her, she's probably looking for him right now.

With a pause, he walks away for a bit, fiddling with the SFC -- Rin would probably be able to hear Shing's message to Kohaku if he so chose.

In any case, after that he puts away the device, returning with some questions.]

Rin... you said you've seen this before, right? Uh... what should I expect?

[His hearing is pretty damn good, so he doesn't have to move much to eavesdrop on his message. He doesn't say anything about it, though. Kohaku will be there eventually, that should be enough.]

Uh...

[Expect? Of suddenly being the Demon King of Earth, more or less? That's a hell of a question, no pun intended.

Rin scratches his head for a bit, remembering with a bit of disdain how the night he learned the truth had gone.

Pain, anger, upset, confusion--...

No. It'd be different for Shing.

He doesn't have to go through that...]

Well... like I said. Just... try to keep calm as much as possible. Stupid things can set you off, mainly gettin' pissed off or upset. Your strength is probably a lot more than it used to be, too, so you'll probably have to hold back a lot. Things like openin' a jar or turnin' a faucet might make you break things instead.

Amaimon had control of Hobgoblins, but since there aren't any here, you won't have to worry about that. But he has control of earth, too, so... well, I don't really know how to deal with that part besides just being careful, yehknow?

[ As soon as she received the message from Shing, Kohaku was worried. So, she quickly made her way to the Plaza, frantically looking around for Shing and Rin once she hit the area.

Oh, where were they ... where were-- there!! She waved, rushing over there as fast as she could go. ]

Shing! Rin!

[ She looked Shing over as she moved toward them ... he didn't seem hurt or injured at all from first appearances, but he had said something was wrong. She trusted him. If he said something was wrong, something was wrong.

But the fact that she didn't see it right away bothered her. ]

Kohaku! There you are...

[Whatever comment Shing was going to make to Rin about the different powers he now had was lost as he spotted her approaching them.

That didn't mean he wasn't aware of what he said, though, if Shing's reluctance to approach Kohaku was any indication.]

... uh, I think I've been struck by what's going around.

[Can you see the tail swishing around behind him now, Kohaku? And his ears are certainly longer now, too...]

Hey!

[Rin waved back when he heard Kohaku calling out to them, waiting for her to get there to say anything.

Of course Shing jumps in to it before he can, but even his short little explanation isn't much. He's actually pretty worried about it and doesn't want to just brush off what's going on as no big deal]

Uh, yeah, look... he's... kind of a demon. Actually he's got the powers of a demon from my world - Amaimon, the King of Earth.

[He pauses, then adds quietly]

He might be pretty dangerous like this...

[ that certainly explained Shing's reluctance to approach her ... and now that she was closer, she could see the ears were pointier and he had a tail in back of him.

... she kind of wanted to poke it.

She resisted, though, nodding in response to Rin while most of her attention was focused on Shing. ]

I see ...

[ She moved closer to him without any hesitation, taking him into her arms and holding him gently. ]

Shing, you know I'm not exactly a delicate little flower ...

I know, but I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I hurt you, you know that. Even if it's accidental and all...

[There's a quiet pause as he breathes out a sigh, hesitantly returning her hug with one of his own.]

... that isn't all, too. I need to keep my emotions under control, too; otherwise I end up becoming a demon, too.

[He glances back at Rin as if to ask him to explain a little more what was going on.]

[Rin sees her going to hug Shing and starts to say "maybe you shouldn't..." but it only gets about halfway out before he gives up. She's going to do it anyway. Sigh.

He's left standing there, a bit uncomfortable watching others be affectionate with each other. He looks away, scratching at the back of his leg with his foot with his arms crossed over his chest until Shing glances at him.]

Uh... I guess... well, what do you wanna know, Kohaku?

Ah ...

[ She slowly lets go of him, looking toward Rin with a bit of an embarrassed blush. She's so used to just being affectionate with Shing at this point that it normally isn't a big deal for her. ]

... He mentioned he has to keep his emotions in check. What all should we be looking out for?

[Rin shrugs a bit, shifting his stance again and shouldering his sword as the strap starts to slip down bit.]

Uh. Well. I really only got a problem with my powers when I'm pissed off.

[If the tail wasn't clue enough, Shing, that was pretty much confirmation right there that Rin is a demon in his own right.]

But I guess I'd say anything where he might lose control.

[He's pretty much leaving that open ended because, really, he doesn't know Shing normally so trying to predict his behavior as a demon would be impossible.]

[ She tries to think. Shing was ordinarily in control of himself ... but that really could span a wide variety of things. She sighs, rubbing her temples a little bit. Oi, this entire thing was already giving her a headache ...

... but she knew they'd get through it. They always did, right? ]

All right. We'll just have to be extra careful for the next week, right? I can stay with Shing as much as possible until this wears off, and make sure he'll be okay.

Ehh... maaaybe... you should have me around, too. Just in case...

[Rin scratches at his cheek a bit, looking away with a bit of an awkward air about him. He really doesn't know if he'd be okay spending a week with a clearly affectionate couple, but if something were to happen and he was all the way across the city...]

I mean, I know you're tough an' all Kohaku, but I'unno if you could really take on a full demon on your own and come out okay. Even I've got problems with that.

... Yeah, that might be a good idea. You definitely know more about this than I do.

[ And he would; Rin was a demon himself, if she remembered right. She turned to Shing with an awkward smile. ]

Are you okay with that? We should probably let Beryl know what's going on, too. You know she's going to find out eventually ... especially if Rin stays with us for the duration of all of this.

[Shing was perfectly content with letting them talk to each other about that, but nods when he's addressed about the whole issue.]

Yeah... I'm fine with that. Better to be cautious, after all, just in case. Right?

[He glances back at Rin with a serious expression. So Rin was a demon too...? That would explain a lot, really...]

We should probably back, too. Beryl's probably wondering where everyone in the apartment went right about now.

[Yeah. Sorry about not being clear about that, Shing. Rin was trying to keep you from flipping out more.]

I should get some stuff from my apartment then...

[this is going to be an... interesting week]
