6th Combo
Who: Lloyd Irving and anyone
Where: Island beach
When: Morning
Style: Either
Status: Open
[There aren't very many good places in Vatheon to get away from everyone. Not that Lloyd is trying to avoid anyone, but it's usually a good idea to go someplace out of the way when training with new mana techniques - and that's exactly what he's doing today. He'd found a good stretch of beach that was, for the moment, unoccupied - probably because of the chill in the morning air discouraging casual beachgoers. There might be more people in the afternoon, but he'd no doubt have called it quits long before then.
So, while he still has the beach to himself, time to get to work! Drawing both his swords, the teen in red runs through a basic warm-up before settling into a familiar routine. Without calling on his own inner mana, he goes through the motions of the techs he thinks are closest to what he's trying to achieve. Demon Fang, Tempest, Beast, they all involve molding mana around his blades. If he can just keep it there, instead of unleashing it...
Anyone passing by this particular stretch of beach will either see a teenage swordsman hard at work training himself - or they'll pass by just in time to get blasted by mana and sand from one of Lloyd's failed technique attempts.]

[Too late, Trunks, he's already done it once. Now he has the idea in his head that he can do it again.]
Yeah, he's really strong. That's why I'm out here working on this technique. He broke one of my swords the last time we fought.
[He lets out a puff of breath that's not quite but almost a huff.]
He thinks I should fight barehanded, too, but swords are what I know. Besides just punching someone who's being a jerk, I don't know how to fight with my hands.
no subject
[Dun dun duuuuuun.]
He doesn't really hold much stock in using weapons to fight.
no subject
[From the startled look that Lloyd gives Trunks, he really never would have.]
I guess it's up to you and me to show him we can be just as strong with our swords as he is with his hands. Or stronger!
Speaking of which...
[Because now he's curious.]
You wanna spar with me?
no subject
[Trunks shrugs. He really wouldn't expect Lloyd to pick up on it on his own. He smiles slightly.]
Sure. I can really go either way--with my sword, or without--but you should practice that new technique. Maybe even against someone using a similar style. Bare-handed, I mean.
no subject
[Lloyd's bad at picking up family resemblance anyway. Case in point: Kratos.
But back to much more immediately interesting things.]
That's exactly what I was thinking. That I should practice, I mean.
[Considering the options, he tilts his head.]
Do you think you could keep from breaking my swords even if I don't get the technique right?
no subject
[He shrugs. Time shenanigans, whatcha gonna do.]
Yeah, I could. I probably have a bit more practice keeping my strength under control than Vegeta does, I've had more reason to.
[He didn't want to break everything in the house--designed for normal people--after all. Plus the fact that he has a very human mother and if he lost control of himself he could have ended up hurting her. Yeah, he had a lot of reasons why control was a thing best learned early.]
I can protect myself from being cut well enough, too. You won't have to worry about holding back.
no subject
[He's... serious about that. He's actually met someone from four thousand years in his future.
...man, this place. He keeps forgetting how weird it is.
He lifts his swords, smiling at the offer, but then pauses as good sense catches up.]
Are you sure? You don't know how strong I am. Shouldn't I hold back at least a bit?
no subject
Don't worry about me, just let me do that. You keep your concentration on using your energy with your swords, splitting it by trying to hold back too won't do you any favors. And unless you think you can knock me through a few trees, I think I can take it.
[That's right--not into, through.]
no subject
Okay, if you're sure...
[Hang on while he focuses his mana again.]
I'm ready whenever you are.
no subject
Definitely sure.
[He can take a hit, man. And if you're gonna say you're ready...he's gonna come at you, bro. Sword sheathed and fists out. Despite any thoughts to the contrary, this isn't a suicide attack.]
no subject
Trunks-!
no subject
I told you, Lloyd, I can handle it.
no subject
He really can handle it.
Something inside Lloyd relaxes, and he smiles back.]
That's amazing. You'll have to teach me how you do that sometime.
[But right now...]
Okay, this time for real. No holding back!
[He pulls back a little, but he's already given Trunks all the warning he'll get before launching into a flurry of attacks.]
no subject
[He blocks the.swings of Lloyd's swords using hands and forearms, swiping back intermittently--he's being rather gentle, all things told.]
no subject
Growing more confident in both his ability to maintain this technique and Trunks's ability to defend himself, Lloyd decides to step it up a notch. After all, he'll need to be able to do this, too. He should practice now while he has the chance!]
Beast!
[How good are you at taking a blast of pure mana, Trunks? Because that's exactly what's leaping away from Lloyd's blades, the energy almost seeming to take on a snarling visage taller and wider than either boy. It races straight forward, trying to knock the half-Saiyan off his feet.]
no subject
That's an interesting attack.
no subject
Thanks. You did pretty good against it, too.
[He takes the chance the brief pause offers to check on how his blade strengthening technique held up, trying to see if wielding his mana in another technique had disrupted it at all. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he notes that he needs to name this new technique. Later, though. More important things right now.
Unfortunately, Beast did affect his technique. The mana he'd tried to hold in his blades is weaker, more diffuse, almost fuzzy. Frowning, Lloyd concentrates it back inside again.
I'll have to work on that.]
You can do attacks like that, too, right? Just like Vegeta?
no subject
[He raises one hand, palm up and fingers splayed, and a ball of blue ki appears hovering over his fingers.
Yup, he sure can.]
no subject
How strong is one of those attacks? Can you make one that won't really hurt me if it hits? Maybe just sting a bit?
