Guriko is gone again. He should've expected this.

Either way, he goes out to do what always comes to mind when he's in a bad mood: kill. In the back of his mind, he knows that it's wrong (Minato would disapprove—) but he made no promises. He agreed not to feed on others, yes, but not on taking a life.

And right now, morals be damned—he needs to kill.

Consequently, one poor local is getting his head grabbed by Tiir, whose eyes are glowing brightly as he applies pressure. It's a bloody means of killing, but it's familiar and that's exactly what he's aiming for as the man's head bursts, soaking a smirking Tiir in blood.

Tossing the body onto the ground, he starts to laugh, even though there's nothing particularly amusing about the situation. He laughs, because he doesn't know how else to react.

... It's better than crying over this, at least.]

[Well, never let it be said that Tiir can't go with the flow of things.

And so, when he ends up grabbing Walter's shoulder instead, he doesn't hesitate to throw him into a building wall.]

[The feeling of being picked up and thrown is something Walter is far too well acquainted with at this point, especially after his last scuffle with Tiir. The unfortunate part is that, however much he braces himself for it, it still knocks the breath out of him when he collides against the building wall and tumbles onto the cobblestones -- the fortunate part is that his back took the brunt of the hit, and not somewhere more vital.

He promptly rolls back up, inhales, then kicks off for a punch.]

[His eyes wide as he smirks, he jumps back, before lunging forward again in a flash, aiming to grab Walter's neck and slam him back against the wall.]

[This time, his neck does indeed get caught. Stubbornly, Walter grits his teeth as his back smashes against the wall again, and swings his arm in an arc to punch Tiir in the face.]

[Tiir tries to back away, but he's too late—the punch connects.]

You—!

[This time, annoyed by the hit, it's Tiir's turn to grit his teeth. He lunges forward again, but now he's aiming simply to stab through Walter's chest.]

[The annoyance is mutual.

As Tiir lunges, Walter rolls off to the side -- to safety, which the wall might not be able to say the same for. Pushing off, he quickly kicks out to catch Tiir in the stomach.]

[When his hand connects with the wall instead, Tiir pushes himself away from it, dodging Walter's kick. Spinning slightly on his heel, he reaches out to grab Walter's leg.]

[Still in the process of twisting and just about to return, there's really nothing to stop Tiir from reaching his leg. And so it gets caught, and Walter begins to steel himself -- ]

[Tiir smirks—a wide smirk that spells danger for anyone who isn't him.

... Unfortunately, Walter happens to fit that requirement.

And so, Tiir pulls, intending to rip Walter's leg off—]

[The pain is instantaneous; unsurprisingly so, given the sheer velocity at which Tiir makes his move. The bones and tendons in his legs break and tear near immediately, then he bleeds internally --

The pain and shock knocks him off his good foot, and he hits the ground unceremoniously with a strangled gasp.]

[Minato heard the commotion.

He's tasked with defending Vatheon, but that's not why he is drawn to the noise; he's drawn to the noise for the simple reason that there may be someone who needs his help.

He will always be there for anyone who needs his help.

So he is running, skidding into the street--

And he freezes.]

[Blood. Blood and blood and Walter and Tiir and--

No no no no no no.

Guriko is gone.

He should have expected this.

But he messed up. He got tied up. He hadn't wanted to think about it, because imouto--

His screw up. Walter shouldn't have had to pay for it.

And a pained shout--]

Tiir-san!

[But there's really no time to lose.

Walter is very badly injured--so Minato just whips out his Evoker, bringing it to the side of his head in one fluid motion and firing.

Bang!

And Messiah appears, the Persona always nearest and closest to his heart and mind, and the wide-ranged, soothing white light of Salvation settles upon both Walter and Tiir.

It always leaves him breathing rather heavily, a healing spell of that magnitude, but it is important--

And only then does he fearlessly run forward.]

[At Minato's voice, Tiir halts, his eyes widening.

Minato.

He lets go of Walter's leg, jumping back in case of retaliation—though, all things considered, Walter isn't in any condition to make a proper counterattack. Dimly, his mind registers the magic, but mostly, he's simply staring at Minato.

... Just like back then, he's painfully aware of how this looks—is. He's covered in blood and just killed someone—and was about to kill another. Shame will never be a familiar feeling to him, but it rains down on him once more.

... Ah. Haha—he hasn't changed at all, has he?

He can't understand why Minato respects him at all. Minato should hate him, as he stands for everything Minato's against. Rejection, killing (eyes that "devour life"—he was born to take life, never preserve it). He should hate him for everything—but by this point, Tiir can't even will himself to wish for Minato to do that.

Rather, he's pleading inside for Minato never hate him. He's not a God's Eyes bearer, so he has no reason to stay with him—but don't let him hate him, however selfish that wish is.

He's taking advantage of his kindness.

(And he hates this place all the more, because he never doubted himself like this before, never felt ashamed—)]

[—Then he won't think about it.

If it's a hindrance, then it's better not to think about it. Self-doubt and shame won't get him anywhere—so he has to be sure of himself.

(Even if he hasn't been for a long time now.)

He can't afford to make mistakes, after all.

And so, he closes his eyes for a moment, before opening them again as he smirks at Walter.]

Well, well. It seems fortune is on your side today...

[Salvation is more than enough to restore his almost lost leg, though the shock to his nerves can't be helped as Walter takes an extra moment to straighten out his breathing. He recovers quickly enough, suffice it to say.

He looks up when Tiir obviously addresses him, his brows furrowed into as intense a glare as he can manage with the rising anger. In the midst of this he fails to acknowledge Minato.]

You . . .

[messianic]

[Nope nope nope.

There's too much to think about and he'll worry about it later, but for now he sees that anger and so he lunges forward between the two of them, Evoker still clenched in his hand.

He trusts Tiir--so he instead faces Walter, his back to Tiir.]

Walter-san.

Do you want to die?

[Because you're not going to win this fight against Tiir. Isn't it obvious?]

[When Minato moves in, Tiir narrows his eyes. He won't hurt him, which Minato undoubtedly knows if he's showing his back to Tiir.

Minato's trust in him never fails to baffle him—though that's not important right now.]

... Minato, get out of the way.

[asea]

[Shocked limb be damned, he immediately pushes himself onto his feet at Minato's words with balled fists, riled up more by what he perceives to be a statement on his weakness.

When has he last won an actual battle with someone?]

I'm -- !

[Already . . . already? No. He corrects himself.]

I'm not running.

[messianic]

[Minato's fists clench as well, one around his Evoker, but he ignores Tiir (and he knows Tiir could kill him if he wanted to, but he won't).]

Don't be so quick to throw away your life.

[And his tone grows a little quieter, but also sharper, and it might just be intended for Tiir as well.]

There's no point to this.

[... Tiir frowns slightly at Minato's tone, but disapproval is something he's used to—something he's lived with and has learned not to care about.

And so, he smirks.]

It seems that he would rather die than live, and I, for one, would be happy to carry out the deed. That's enough of a 'point' for me.

[asea]

[That sounds like a demand, and that is a tone Walter refuses to tolerate from a mere person of the land. Even angrier now, he raises his voice slightly, ignoring Tiir again.]

What I do with my life is none of you Orerines' concern!

[Who is he is to tell him how to manage his life? Who is he?

He's losing his cool, getting ahead of himself again, this is approaching a territory he needs to immediately withdraw from -- ]

[messianic]

It is my concern!

[While Minato's tone rises, it's still unusually calm considering the circumstances. He stands fearlessly between Tiir and Walter, expression solemn and steady.

...]

It is my concern, because I don't want to see either of you hurt.

Not again.

[... Tch.

Tiir knows how stubborn Minato is, as he wouldn't have put up with Tiir for this long if he were willing to stand down so easily. And while it's a trait that Tiir can respect, it can be a bit annoying—particularly in a situation like this.

He sighs.]

I won't do anything while you're in the way, Minato. You know that.

[Though he could easily move around Minato, there's no way to tell how the boy will react, and Tiir would rather not risk having him jump in and take an attack meant for Walter.]

[While Tiir talks, Walter exhales deeply in an effort to maintain some semblance of calmness. The frown on his face doesn't let up, but that hardly matters when he whips around on his heels to storm off. He's had enough of this caring nonsense, and this is nothing more than a waste of time -- of energy and effort.

And he's sick of this illusion of "caring for one another," sick of this blasphemous city and the people in it.]
