Son and daughter having 'The Talk' with Mom
Who: Bulma, Bulla, and Trunks
Where: Bulma's capsule house(?)
When: May 1st (what is this thing you call backdating)
Style: Action
Status: Closed
[Trunks had really intended to break this earlier, but he simply hadn't known how. The mindset of hiding his identity that he'd taken on when he traveled to the past wasn't the best policy here--but he honestly couldn't help it.
He'd talked with Gohan days ago and had decided that it would be for the best to just...tell them, but hadn't gotten around to it.
And now everything was blowing up, just like Gohan said it would. At least he could try to contain the fallout.
Knock knock, Mom.]

7/7 durr I can't count
[...A sigh as she puts out the cigarette in an ashtray on the coffee table. That moment didn't last long.]
But I'm not going to worry about it. No way. Timelines are very impressionable; I will probably have time to come to terms with it. Or have it not happen at all.
[She already has it in her mind that Bulla and Trunks might not come to be in the timeline she's from, hell, why not never meeting or becoming involved with Vegeta at all? It was simple.]
1/2
You couldn't have cushioned the blow? Just a little?
[ BOYS. ]

'Or have it not happen at all'. Yeah, that. She doesn't want to think about that. So she'll just... ]
Hey, he's...different, in the future. I mean, he's still kind of rough around the edges, but he's a good dad. I mean, he makes sure creepy guys don't hit on me, and he takes me shopping whenever I want, so...[ Don't write him off just yet?
UGH, MAN. Why does this have to be so weird, awkward, and just...difficult. ]

But he'd be all for taking the blame, 'cause he tends to do that. He sighs.]
You did see something in him, I know that. But you're right...timelines certainly are impressionable. That's one of the reasons I didn't say anything at first--when I time-traveled, you--the future you--made sure to drill into me not to take any chances that could damage the timeline.

You traveled through time, Trunks? [It certainly sounds like something she'd make sure to press onto anyone before sending them off through the wibbly-wobbly stream of time.] Why? There's no way I would have done something like that for the sake of an experiment.
[Bulma Briefs was a lot of things; proud, stubborn, curious...but she was not someone that would tamper with time willy-nilly. Especially not if it meant possibly endangering her own flesh and blood.]

Then again, he wasn't sure he wanted to get into it now. Not after what they'd just revealed.
...but trying to dodge it now would just be disingenuous, and unlikely to stand. By the time he's gathered all his thoughts, the gloom is back.]
The timeline I'm from--the one parallel to Bulla's--is exactly how you saw on the network. There's basically nothing left. Everything's been destroyed. There's probably only ten thousand people left alive, maybe fifteen. Most of us live underground. All of Earth's fighters are gone, except for me.
[He lets out a breath. This is a lot harder to talk about than he thought it would be.]
You...Mom...invented the time machine so I could go back and deliver the cure for the heart virus that killed Goku, to give everyone a better chance to survive, and maybe find a way to defeat the androids in our own time.
[Just talking about it is emotionally exhausting, and he hadn't even begun to get into everything.]

Goku's dead? Everyone except her and Trunks are dead? (But where does that leave Gohan?)]
Oh, honey...
[Her carton of cigarettes and lighter are dropped to the floor as Bulma gets up and approaches Trunks, leaning down a bit to be at level with him.]
The androids will be defeated. Everything will be all right as long as Goku's around. [She says that from the bottom of her heart, of course everything will always turn out fine when Goku's around. He's the strongest person in the world.] Now...getting back to the subject of your father, I guess I should be more cautious around that guy then.

And then all this stuff with her dad. Was it selfish of her, to want everything to be okay? For her family to somehow pull together and act more like...well, a family? Not just Her, Trunks, and Bulma, but Vegeta too. Dad's not a bad guy. Maybe I can show them that, somehow.
Ugh, why is everything so frustrating?
She frowns, thinking more than responding to what's going on. She doesn't really...know what to say. ]
Yeah, as long as Goku's around...

18, however...probably not, even if he could accept the different timelime as excusing her.]
...yeah. Sorry, it's a lot to hear.

[Not sure if referring to the baby daddy aspect or the bad end aspect.]
