Gilbert tugged the scarf closer around him, burying his slightly pink nose into it to try and fend off the cold. He found it weird that an underwater dimension could reach close to freezing, and wondered if things would actually start to ice over. It would be fascinating to watch, that's for sure, but Gilbert didn't really want to have to watch out for Glaciers or the like just for going out for a walk. He was glad that the cold came just after he did his clothes shopping though. Would've sucked wandering about in nothing but the clothes he arrived in - i.e just his boxers. He would've frozen to death.

And he knew from experience that freezing to death was simply awful.

"Wish I had Gilbird. Shopping's fun with him..." Gilbert grumbled quietly, sorely missing his little bird companion. He lifted his hand out of his pocket, holding a rumpled piece of paper in his grasp. Thank God stuff were for free here otherwise he would've been living in a cardboard box. He still found it fishy that the apartments and furniture and food were for free, but the mystery could be placed on the back burner while he secured a good headquarters - with a fridge full of food. He still felt a bit uncertain wandering about in the streets though. So many strange beings with their own strange abilities and their strange customs - it was both exciting and worrisome. Gilbert remembered his altercation with a blond Superman-wannabe the last time he was here. It did not end well for him.

He shook his head to clear his thoughts. The cold always made him a bit woozy and tired. Shopping and scouting. Focus on those things.

Gilbert paused as he heard that familiar cry, blinking slowly before he turned on his heel and saw a big blaringly red person. A few blinks later he recognised the mystery person to be Italy - someone he hadn't seen in a long while. "Ah..." he grinned boyishly, lifting his arm in a greeting, waving Italy over. "Italy! Hey there!"

Italy scurried over to him excitedly. "Japan said you were here!" It sure was good to see a friendly face. He'd seen quite a few countries here, but he sure was glad to have Prussia and Japan here with him. Netherlands was probably off somewhere getting high and ~~Canada~~ Other America was quiet. America had since disappeared.

"Japan had this great idea that the three of us should do something together," he continued. "I really like that idea!"

Gilbert blinked. He hadn't yet seen Japan, but he wouldn't put it past the Asian nation to have some mad...ninja skills to detect his Chi or whatever. Or maybe Gilbert had been watching too many exaggerated Wuxia films before he came here. "Japan's still here? But, er, sure! That sounds awesome!" The more people he knew here, the better!

Not that he was, like, lonely or anything. It just got boring by himself, that's all.

"Si, si," Italy nodded emphatically. "It'll be fun~!" Italy was more interested in Japan's art and architecture than anything else. The idea of being a ninja didn't really cross his mind, though perhaps because he and Japan were allies and friends (and that Japan was too polite to smack him on the head like Germany would).

"Ve, we could go out to get food or have a picnic or anything!" He honestly wasn't sure what the plan was, but to go out and do stuff with friends was always a good thing.

"So long as it has food, I don't care what we do," Gilbert said solemnly before grinning, eyeing Italy with an almost predatory look. "Food like, oh, I dunno...pasta? Spaghetti bolognese specifically?" Italy made the best pasta; this was fact, and seeing the nation, Gilbert was reminded of how he'd been craving spaghetti like no other recently.

Oh that was practically the magic word for Italy. Pasta. He nodded excitedly. "I can make spaghetti bolognese! I haven't made that yet here~."

His most common food was just spaghetti for his housemates, but then again, Heavy seemed to eat anything Italy gave him. "I just baked fresh spaghetti noodles yesterday. I could make some for you~"

Gilbert smiled. It was so easy to get food from Italy. He didn't complain about laziness like Ludwig normally did. "That'd be awesome, Italy. Thanks!"

If there was one thing Italy was good at, it was cooking. And he was always happy to make food for someone who appreciated it, especially a friend. And there wasn't a 'you eat too much pasta' complaint attached to it either. "Ve, of course~~. I'll make extra so we can all eat pasta together~ And then you can take the leftovers home so you won't be hungry~"

Gilbert's smile widened. He even got leftover snacks! He could've kissed Italy there and then. "Brilliant. So when should we meet up for a pasta-filled fun day? I've got nothing planned for a long while so..."

Italy wouldn't have rejected that. Anyway, the idea of a pasta-filled fun day had him bubbling over. That sounded like the best day ever. "Let's do it~ That sounds like so much fun~~~~"

"Now?" Gilbert asked. Well, he still needed to finish shopping for his new apartment. Fill the fridge and all that nonsense. "Besides, we still need to invite Japan, right?"

Italy shook his head. He needed to cook and track down Japan, who seemed elusive, at times. "Soon~!" Though he wouldn't object to doing something now. He needed supplies for the bolognese, after all.

Gilbert nodded. They could always call each other on those starfish things once Italy tracked down Japan. "Cool. So, what'cha up to now then?"

"Getting art supplies," Italy replied, indicating his sketchbook. He'd been drawing a lot lately. So many interesting buildings and things to draw and there wasn't anyone to tell him to pull his head out of the clouds and stop. There really wasn't a need to, anyway. Not much had happened since his arrival. A sickness, weird thought bubbles. Well there was that April Fool's joke, but that wasn't a real murder.

"Oh," Gilbert rubbed the back of his neck. "Well...I need to get food supplies, so...I mean, if you wanna shop together, that's cool with me."

Italy brightened up at the suggestion. "Ve, I'd like that!" he replied with a sound nod. "I can pick up ingredients for the bolognese too~"

Gilbert grinned. "Awesome! Shopping's boring by yourself, so...yeah," he tilted his head, looking down at the ground briefly before looking back up at Italy. "So shall we get food first, or your art thingies?"

Italy nodded in agreement. He usually shopped by himself but boy did he enjoy it when someone came with him. "It is~". So which one first. "Ve, maybe art first. They're lighter and easier to carry around."

"Alright," that seemed fair to Gilbert. "You lead the way though. I dunno where the art store is or where it's sold, or whatever." Gilbert was more of a writer than a drawer on the creative side of the spectrum. His nation was mostly filled with musicians or poets or novelists.

Italy was a huge visual artist, and the art supplies pretty much called out to him. "This way!" he said excitedly, waving for Prussia to follow him. It wasn't too far from where they were. After all, that was the direction Italy had been heading initially.

Gilbert dutifully followed, looking secretly pleased about something. "So...what're you planning to draw with all of those supplies, then?"

"Ve, I've been sketching buildings lately," Italy replied. "I want to open a bakery here so I'm deciding what the facade of the building should be. Something inviting~~" The architecture was different here, and he did admire it. He wanted to blend in just a bit to the local theme of the scenery.

Personally Gilbert thought sketching buildings to be incredibly boring. Why not draw something exciting like dangerous animals or battlefields? "Oh, a bakery? I thought you only cooked pasta?"

Italy of course didn't particularly care for dangerous things. They were scary. Buildings and kitties and people were much more interesting. "Ve, I cook a lot of things. Pasta is just my favorite~." He learned a few things from Big Bro France and from Germany, probably a few things from Japan too.

"Hm..." Gilbert rubbed the back of his neck, smirking suddenly. "So...that means you'd know how to cook cakes and stuff, right?"
