And he knew from experience that freezing to death was simply awful.
"Wish I had Gilbird. Shopping's fun with him..." Gilbert grumbled quietly, sorely missing his little bird companion. He lifted his hand out of his pocket, holding a rumpled piece of paper in his grasp. Thank God stuff were for free here otherwise he would've been living in a cardboard box. He still found it fishy that the apartments and furniture and food were for free, but the mystery could be placed on the back burner while he secured a good headquarters - with a fridge full of food. He still felt a bit uncertain wandering about in the streets though. So many strange beings with their own strange abilities and their strange customs - it was both exciting and worrisome. Gilbert remembered his altercation with a blond Superman-wannabe the last time he was here. It did not end well for him.
He shook his head to clear his thoughts. The cold always made him a bit woozy and tired. Shopping and scouting. Focus on those things.

"Very vell. So how long haff you been hier? I see you already seem to know your vay around down hier at least."
no subject
He laughed, shaking his head a little. "Whatever. Whatever happens, happens, I guess. How about you? How long have you been kicking about this Atlantis Reject place?"
no subject
"You can also just find yourself a job to keep you busy. Oder join zhe Defense Forze. Zhere are several trainers vizh zhem zhat you can ask for lessons. I personally vent vizh helping out at zhe hospital. Fairly handy in zertain regards considering my personal projects I came to vork on at long last." Projects RED had not been interested in.

He scoffed at 'lessons' though. "Pleeease~ like I need lessons to join a Defence Force, or whatever. I'm Prussia! I'm the epitome of Defence and Offence!I've kicked ass throughout the ages!" He puffed his chest out, grinning arrogantly. "...but," he deflated, rubbing the back of his neck. "I admit I'm a bit out of practice. Not a lot of wars going on in the twenty first century. Where is this Defence Force place thing?"
no subject
"Nun, zhere ist no real plaze for zhat. You pretty much only sign up und let zhose handling zhe forze know you are villing to help in case zhe next giant sea creature oder vhatever dezides to attack."
Yes. It had been rather quiet lately... That little murder joke aside. But that has been none of those occasions where they had to actually defend themselves or fight to protect this underwater city.

Suddenly, Gilbert looked a bit - well not shy as such, but slightly uncertain. "Sooo...where do you live? I mean, y'know, I kinda know Italy and it's good to stay in contact, y'know, with old buddies...plus I could pop down and visit you too. Fellow Germans banding together, and whatnot..."
no subject
"It ist partly open for everyone to come in. At least zhe training areas and zhe shooting range are. Personal quarters, zhe lab und storage rooms are, of course, not freely accessible. I can give you zhe adress so you can mark it down on your map. You can feel free to stop by at pretty much every time." the RED shrugged lightly, then added a chuckle "I am sure Italy vould be pleased to see an old friend as vell."

"Thanks though," he added, rubbing the back of his neck, his grin becoming a bit sheepish. "For, er, giving me permission I guess." Nations were normally quite picky about who could pop around their homes after all, and Prussia was on quite a few "Throw Out Upon Sighting" lists. Only with the lame countries though, because they were so lame they couldn't withstand his pure awesomeness out of utter jealousy.
Yeah.
"B-But, I'm probably distracting you from your shopping right now, huh?" Gilbert pushed his hands back into his pockets, looking away with a wry grin. "So, uh...y'know, unless you wanna shop with me, or whatever. Not that you have to, I mean."

Glancing up towards the bird that has by now gotten all comfortable on his head again, the man chuckled "Nun, I do not need zhat much, so I am not sure if it even counts as shopping to just pick up zhe usual grozeries. So I apparently happen to haff some time on my hand in case you vould like some company."
no subject
"Ja. Yes, some company'll be awesome. Shopping's boring by yourself."
Response delayed by weekend. Yay.
"Are you looking for somezhing spezific, if I may ask?"

He nodded as an indication for Prussia to come along before he turned halfway to continue down the road he was going to "Maybe ve should just stop by zhe music shop."
no subject
He followed after Medic, keeping in step with the taller man. "There's a music shop?" he asked. "What, selling instruments and shit?"
no subject
"I got a violin in zhat store. Haffing a creative outlet sometimes ist just zhe right zhing."

Most people believed Gilbert to be an uncultured warmonger with little patience for music - solidified by his rivalry and general distaste towards Austria and his "piddling piano playing". But the fact of the matter was that Gilbert had many musicians born in his country; it was just that there was a bit of a debate on who was Austrian and who was German and oh you fucking moron /obviously/ Ludwig van Beethoven was German I don't care how many years he spent in Vienna learning to play the piano - and ad nauseum.
To put it simply, underneath his rough exterior, Gilbert knew more than a little about the musical arts.
"Do they sell flutes there?" he asked curiously.
no subject
Prussia surely wouldn't ask for that specific instrument if he had never held one of them. The idea sort of intrigued the RED.While he played the violin, he still enjoyed to listen to other instruments being played. Or several instruments being played along well and in synch with one another.

But there was no use wallowing over these sorts of things too much. Medic gestured forward with one hand "It's right over zhere."
no subject
Not even Gilbert understood the osmosis between citizens and nations - it just sort of happened. So he quickly ended the topic, and instead followed Medic's gesture to where the music shop was. "Oooh...looks cool."
no subject
"Let us go inside, zhen." Medic spoke and did as he just said, Archimedes reacting to the change of their current setting with a soft coo and a curiously lifted head "Take a look around. I am going to look for some new scores if I am already hier."
