Are they alright?

[She tilts her head, looking a little anxious. It's only been Shizuo and Zelos to have her cooking so far...]

[Observant as he is, Zelos didn't miss the reaction, though he's had a cookie of his own so he knows there's nothing wrong with the food itself, maybe just something Guy doesn't like. Everyone has their own preferences after all.

So it begs the question... is Guy hiding his reaction simply to be polite, in which case he could courteously decline as manners warrant, or will he tell Zelda they're great and eat more anyway just to bolster her feelings. Another test, as it were, and Zelos puts on an amused but impassive face.]

Yes Guy, what do you think~?

[Guy was used to slipping on masks for the sake of the conversation, especially for trivial matters. He sees that anxious look about her. The impassive look from Zelos, a glint of humor flickering across his expression.

So he hitches a sheepish but honest grin on his face, relaxing his posture. It may come as a surprise to Zelos, especially, having seen his reaction earlier. But the sudden change of composure comes almost immediately, as if there hadn't been a problem in the first place.]

Haha... I think they're excellent, actually. Cooked very well - you did a fine job! You said this was your first time with the recipe, right?

[It wasn't a lie - she'd done well! She just happened to chose one of the only flavors that made his mouth feel peculiar and uncomfortable. That wasn't her fault, though, and he wasn't about to bother her over such a small detail.

So he breaks off another piece, stirring it in his cup a little before consuming it. He'd had worse - MUCH worse, what, with Princess Natalia's cooking attempts - and now that he was aware of what he was eating, he could keep his composure a little better. The sweetness of the tea and cream eased down a little bit of those sour aftertastes, anyways...]

[Zelos gets a bit of a scowl. What's with that tone? When Guy speaks, she looks quite relieved, smiling brightly. If she'd been watching when he first took a bite Zelda would have been angry that he was trying to spare her feelings, but she hadn't been. His words are taken at face value.]

Yes, that's right. It was a somewhat difficult recipe, honestly - what sort of measurement is a pinch? Or a dash? Everyone's fingers are different, it's ridiculously imprecise.

[Oh Guy, you poor bastard. This isn't going to be easy for you.]

And I keep telling you it's to taste. Not everyone likes a lot of one flavor or a little of another, y'know? So someone might want a pinch but someone else'll put in a handful! You just do what seems best to you. Cooking's an art, not a science~

[Zelos pops another cookie in his mouth, this time without dipping it in his tea. They really are pretty good, if a bit bland as far as flavoring. She could have done with more lemon peel to bring out the tart citrus-y taste.

Though then Guy might have exploded so it's probably good she didn't.]

[Guy chuckles as he brings the remainder of his own cookie to his mouth. He actually prefers the milder taste against the sweetness of the tea - sure, it may have been a bit bland, but a little butter or spice or (dare he say it) citrus peel could have helped that out. It was her first time - no need to be so picky over it. ~~No it is not just because it is lemon-tastic otherwise what are you thinking.~~]

Haha, I actually find it to be a mixture of both.

No no, seriously, think about it. There is some science behind it. Or, at least, the foundations of a recipe - the temperatures, the methods, the basic measurements... stuff like that is all best carefully calculated. Cooking is, after all, nothing more than a set of reactions. But the creativity and spark comes through the individual touches and changes you can make, such as with flavorings. It takes experimentation, but it can really bring out some wonderful qualities of a dish when you finally get the hang of it.

[And coming from someone who's had to cook for a horribly picky eater? Sometimes it really benefits to learn to be creative.

He'll just get back to his cup of tea, then. Ahhhh the cream does wonders of getting that sour aftertaste out of his throat.]

[Zelda looks like she's mulling over that a bit. Finally, she smiles again. It seems that Zelos has been taking the wrong approach in trying to teach her how to spice up cooking - making it science is clearly the way to go! She picks up another one of the cookies and chews on it thoughtfully, licking her lips clean.]

Well, when you put it that way... perhaps I should have added a little more of the flavoring, then. Cooking is still quite new to me, I'm afraid if I deviate from the recipe too much the oven will explode!

[Yes, it looks like she's serious. Poor girl, she was never allowed in the kitchen as a child. She was always told tales of exploding ovens and fires gone out of control.]

Oh, I see how it is! Forget all my hard work trying to teach you but the blonde guy makes a suggestion and you jump right on it, eh? I'm so unappreciated!

[Whine whine whine! He's not serious though, as evidenced by how he leans backwards over the chair's arm with the back of his hand against his forehead histrionically. Woe is him~ No one knows his suffering~

He cracks one eye open to see how his audience reacts, especially Zelda.]

[Ahhhh, the poor girl. If only he hadn't heard that story with nobility before, haha...

The look of understanding from Zelda is enough to get a subtle chipperness back into Guy's smile... which instantly bursts into a chuckle at Zelos' melodramatic display. Oh geez. You drama queen. Guy places his cup back down and raises his hands in mock protest.]

Hey, hey, easy! Hah. Not everyone is able to explain everything the right way - I just said what came to mind.

[Aaaand shooting him a more mischievous smirk.] Or hey, maybe you're just doing a poor job with your word choices. Who knows.

[She doesn't seem particularly embarrassed by Zelos's jabs.]

You tried to make it sound like some strange kind of tribal dance! Chemical interactions aren't instinct Zelos. They're far easier to understand than that. Honestly, I'm not sure why I didn't think of cooking as chemistry before now...

[Probably exactly because of people like Zelos trying to tell her about art and taste and flair. Those things have no place in science you silly people! At least not until you get a handle on the basics.]

Because it's totally boring that way. Honestly you people with your science, sucking the fun and mystery out of everything.

[Ouch. Well, them's the breaks! Though y'know, maybe they just haven't had enough time together. Guy really is fairly well suited. He gets Zelda's overly logical wavelength, and he won't lay a finger on her that she wouldn't want either. He can't. Pretty sweet deal from where Zelos is sitting. He'll just file this information away for later~...]

[PFFT.] What, are you implying science can't be fun? Aw, Zelos, I'm hurt!

Come on, have a sense of adventure. The beauty of science is that you CAN explore from those boundaries of the world, as well as expound on why they exist in the first place! It's a never-ending field of possibilities and experimentation and ground-breaking...

[He leans back, crossing his arms with a raised brow and a smile.] You're really missing out if you just consider it boring. Nothing boring about using your head.

Oh, certainly! Discovering the limits of natural laws and how they can bend is fascinating! It doesn't just apply to mana and magic, either. You'll have to teach me more about the limits of technology, Guy. I think that may be what's used in this place. Have you ever heard of nanotechnology?

[She's starting to reach out an arm like she's going to pat him, look out!]

It might be tech but it seems like we're the power source.

[Yeah he's just gonna watch Zelda touch Guy. Can't say it's not entertaining to see how high he jumps when that happens.]

[Guy was more than ready to respond to that pessimistic little comment from Zelos, but he catches that subtle movement from the corner of his vision...

His eyes widen and he scrambles backwards off his seat with an incoherent squawk, stumbling across the floor a few steps with his hands flung defensively in front of him--]

[--and after a moment of trembling, his expression goes sheepish, lowering his arms just slightly.]

S-sorry. N-nothing personal or anything, I just--

[Both of them can feel free to ignore that octave jump in his vocal tone. He knows he doesn't need to explain this to either of them at this point - they know well enough.]

[Zelda looks abashed, cheeks turning pink and ears pointing downward slightly.]

No, I apologize. I got carried away and forgot about it. It will not happen again, I assure you. I don't make a habit of it usually, but I do not mind taking on Sheik's form instead if it will set you at ease.

[She doesn't mind, but it's still someone else's body. Zelda prefers to only do it when it's necessary. Carrying Sola home? Necessary. Chatting on the couch? A little less so.]

[Not quite as impressive as Guy's leap away while they'd been out shopping that once but he still scooted several feet. Not bad! Or maybe the shorter distance correlates with Guy being sweet on Zelda? Who knows.]

Don't do that; it's pretty creepy if you ask me.

[He much prefers you as yourself, Zelda~ As for Guy, he doesn't comment. He'd noted the real fear the last time this happened. Comical as the reactions are, he's not such a heel as to mock Guy openly. Contrary to popular opinion, Zelos does have a sense of tact.]

[Tact indeed, psh. Now what was that he just said about choice of words?]

[Siiigh. He felt like a broken record, having to deal with this again. But whatever, it wasn't like it got easier as time went by or anything. He awkwardly steps back over to his seat, his face still a bit anxious, but softer than before.]

Don't worry about it. Things happen, sometimes we forget. It's only human. Don't beat yourself up or change yourself over it or anything.

[And there's a soft smile.] Besides, I'd prefer you like this, if you don't mind.

If you're certain... I prefer it as well. It's the form of my guardian. He would want me to take it to protect myself, I am sure, but it still seems just a little strange to do so casually.

[A glance at Zelos.]

Creepy is one way to put it, I suppose...

Though I am quite certain I don't engage in the sorts of activities you would if you were to suddenly become female.

[When Zelda makes that face, it's time to run.]

[Have a laugh! Sorry Zelda, but that's no secret.]

Hah! Yeah I probably wouldn't leave my room for at least a day for starters, considering I'd be the hottest chick under the sea~♥

But hey, don't mind him. He'll let Zelda have her moment of teasing. It's highly amusing.]
