Informal Christmas Concert~

Hijiri looked around to make sure all the musical instruments and seats were in place. He'd prepared a number of extra seats. He'd also managed to get a piano and a drum set out onto the plaza along with some tambourines for anyone who might be passing by and want to join in. Passersby were of course welcome to borrow instruments from the music store nearby to join in or just sing along if they wanted to. Hijiri had already spoken to the store owner about it and she was glad to help. Hijiri can be a very charming flirt when he wanted to~ ♥

Now Hijiri set down and tuned his violin a little before playing a bit of Ave Maria to warm up as he waited for the others.

The evening's programme was to be a mix of classical, pop and even rock Christmas tunes. Anything his fellow musicians wanted to play. Hijiri just wanted everyone to have a fun musical Christmas~

Naoto hadn't really wanted to come out in her unplanned Christmas outfit (with a red hairband that had faux holly on the right side), but it was proper for her to at least make a show. She believed that if anything she should be more in the Christmas spirit even though she knew very few people in Vatheon. This was her first away from Inaba and she wondered how many more there would be like this.

She looked up as she heard the violin playing Ave Maria. She had heard the song along with some of the more classical holiday songs while somewhat celebrating with her grandfather and - as of last year - her friends. Thinking about it now reminded her of how much she missed the team even though it had only been a few months now.

As she listened to it, she couldn't help herself. She knew the words by heart and remembered how to sing it from when she had been in a choir class when she was little. Her voice softly joined the young man's playing.

Hijiri looked up when he heard soft singing then he smiled at the girl as he continued playing.

After the song ended, he clapped. "You have a very beautiful voice."

A soft gasp leaves her lips as he speaks. Had she been singing that loudly? Oh no. She wasn't even that good!

"I-I'm sorry for interrupting," she speaks meekly, "I hope I wasn't singing too loudly."

[Now this is a song that Jade hasn't actually heard before, but she's tuning her bass along with his violin to make sure she's got the proper feel for it (it's a normal bass, after all, and not her bass from home.)

This is usually the part where her ears would swivel back to face him so she can keep the sound consistent, but...

This curse turned her back into a regular person, no more dog ears, she's just going the old fashioned way. She halts a lot in her run through of the song as she forgets then realizes again that she no longer has the benefit of dog hearing.]

[Hijiri smiles over at her. He slows down and pauses from time to time to help her get a feel for her bass.]

Should I play something else?

No, no, no, I'm fine! [And she smiles back!] This isn't a song I'm familiar with, but it's easy enough to follow. I'm just not used to not having my sound amplifiers.

[Ioder had taken to the new music rather well, all things considered. Christmas wasn't a holiday on Terca Lumieres (though they had a similar gift-giving holiday that was a little earlier in the autumn months) but he didn't mind the idea of it. Of course religion was something that went completely over his head (worship of a deity was a bit of an antiquated concept) but the thought of togetherness, selflessness and spending time with loved ones was something he could understand completely.

So he was more than happy to join in the festivities with his flute, playing along easily in spite of his previous lack of knowledge of them.]

You really do have talent for the flute, Ioder! Are you sure this is your first time playing Christmas music?

Oh, yes. I suppose I just have a good hear for music. And these are all very lovely pieces!

<sub>[Libertà managed to find a trumpet, he practiced a lot (in those few days) but just before the concert he realized that maybe, just maybe this wasn't such a good idea. What if he wasn't good enough?

He couldn't help but get a little nervous. He'd never really played in front of anyone. Except the people from his division, but... they were like family to him, so that didn't even count.]</sub>

The concert!

[Cain walks into the stage and sits at the piano that was brought for him, approving of it. He waits for Hijiri to take place, as they will be performing as a duet.]

[Seeing Cain seated, Hijiri quickly assumes his position next to the piano. He tunes his violin a bit then nods towards him.]

Ready, Cain?

[He nods and cues for Hijiri to begin to play The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy from The Nutcracker.]

The concert!

*Selphie's turn, and she couldn't help having a little bit more Christmas rock n roll. She's all dressed up in a lady's Santa outfit too! Especially for the concert, Selphie has learned to play Rockin Around the Christmas Tree, strumming it out with a bit of excitement on her electric guitar, singing away happily into the microphone. Maybe other musicians will accompany her, or sing along too!*

Post-concert mingling

[Hijiri's inviting everyone for drinks and snacks at a nearby cafe~]

[Tatsumi and Tsuzuki have attended to listen see Hijiri playing at the concert. The secretary greatly enjoyed the young boy's performance, and he was happy to see a few other familiar faces around, like Naoto.

Knowing that Tsuzuki likes drinks and snacks, he decided to accept Hijiri's post-concert invitation, so how he finds himself sitting at the nearby cafe.]

[Hijiri spots him and comes over.]

Tatsumi-san! Did you enjoy the concert?

[Tatsumi turns to look at the boy.]

Congratulations, Minase-kun. It was quite good, the concert. I enjoyed it.

[Nothing like a little Christmas jam to liven the mood in the Bubble. Man, do the natives even celebrate or was it just something us newcomers brought to the table? These were some of the hard-hitting questions Marty McFly likes to ask himself every so often but gets lost in the spur of action. Lost in the middle of walking past others mingling with one another.

As much as Marty enjoys playing for the crowd there is something missing. Was it the sound? No. The sound was fine as far as he was concerned. Was it the glass of milk in his hand? No. Not that either. Huh...weird but it is enough for him to mull over in his head by the wall.]
